Turk, Thank you for the correct info, sorry for any mis-information. I truly thought it was part of a m/a policy, my bad lol. Thanks again.

John, well said. I could never understand why automatic mutual-aid was not used as much as it should. As for Westchester, I know a few of the career and combo depts use it almost daily. Depts such as Fairview, Greenville, Hartsdale, Rye, Rye Brook & PCFD rely on it regularly. Personally I think its a good policy. It ensures you have adequate equipment/manpower (especially w/career depts) responding on alarms. It also keeps a good working relationship between Depts. Here in Orange County, automatic mutual-aid is a common thing. Many FDs have pre-set M/A for everything from fires to MVAs to auto-alarms. Some may have 1 & 1 coming mutual-aid for reported structure fires or even auto-alarms. Some have m/a rescues for certain MVAs. Many have FASTeams dispatched for any reported/possible structure fires. It seems to work very well up here & could work in Westchester. As for EMS...I won't even go there. That's a system that truly needs addressing County-wide in my opinion.

Glad to hear that the Officers have been cleared. As others have said, all the BS is probably far from over. The officers involved that night were faced with a very ugly situation and a clear threat on their lives. In miliseconds, they had to make a decision that no LEO ever wants to make in their career. DJ Henry made poor choices that night that unfortunatley led to his death. The officers were doing their job that they are sworn to do and DJ Henrys actions caused the Officers re-actions. Hats off to ALL LEO's who keep us safe on a daily basis. I can only hope that PO's Hess and Beckley can get on with their lives and careers, knowing that they had no other option that night. The Daily News covered the Grand Jury findings yesterday. The headline read something along the lines of "Officers Skate Charges in PACE Shooting...." I may not have it ver-batum, but pretty close. The fact that the author of the article chose to use the word "skate" made me absolutely sick.

Task Force, awesome shots, thanks for sharing! Quick question, is the Barberton FD a career Dept? Hard to tell by that sticker on the Engine . Just kidding, but holy IAFF sticker batman lol. I actually like that they're showing true pride in their union. Definately a unique color for an FD apparatus. Also, any reason why the Engine is purple and the Truck is the more common red and white? Also, i too like that Engine from Columbus. The Spartan chassis have really grown on me and they seem to make good quality rigs.

I hate to sound like a sap, but this is a truly touching story and i wanted to share it here. I read this in the paper today and it made me think of how precious life really is. Kudos to the brothers of Engine Co.1 and Ladder Company 24 for showing this brave little angel what the Brotherhood is all about. I was truly touched and impressed on how the brothers took this child in as one of their own and made his dreams come true. Little Liams family is a very strong one and my heart goes out to them. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/columnists/molloy/index.html

This past August, i spent a week in Nashville, TN. During my stay, i tried to get some FD pictures. Nashville is a great City, so i didnt want to spend too much time buffing lol. I happened to stop by this Firehouse one day. I was greeted by the housewatchmen who told me the rest of the house were out on a training detail. That being said, most of the apparatus that was housed there was out on the detail. The pictures are of Truck-2, which was less than a year old when i took these pictures. The housewatchmen was more than willing to pull the rig out so i could get some good shots. The only other rig that was there was a Communications Unit. Unfortunately, the lighting was bad and i couldnt get a decent shot of it. Anyway, heres a few shots of Nashville FD Truck-2, a 2010 Pierce Velocity tower-ladder. *I aplogize for the sideways pictures. I rotated them, but cant get them to save properly.

I will be Florida-bound at 6am Tuesday....i hope to hell the wife and i can get outta dodge before this crap starts! The OT ive been getting from this snow has been great, but ive had enough. I know the guys at work have been using the front-end loader all week to try and move the snow to make room for any new snow that may come. A friend had told me that the Farmers Alminac is calling for a severe storm that may bring up to 3 feet of snow before the season ends.

Josephine, may you rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers to her family. As efdcapt115 said, she ironically saved the men of Ladder-6 when they stopped to assist her. Thoughts also to those brothers of L6, as im sure this loss has hit them hard. Hats off to Capt. Jay Jonas for stepping up to help.

Bill, as always, great photos! You truly have a knack for taking great action shots! Looks like New Hack had a nice knock down. I like that they used the reach of the hose stream & didn't rush into things. As Billy said, you just never know what people have in their vehicles. Especially the fact that the driver was GOA and the plates were missing would make me real hesitant. It does look like a home heating oil tank of sorts. TCD...glad you asked about the "NKFD" on their gear, I've wondered this for some time lol.

The new Tower was definately a nice rig. As for the Q, they must have really wanted/needed one lol. Tennesee is definately a really nice state from what we saw of it. Truly nice people, clean streets and great friedly hospitality. Yes, Austin, Tx is on my "to visit" list for sure. As for the music, i wasnt disappointed at all. We saw live music from around 10am to closing and that was pretty much every night lol. I needed a week to recover from that trip! Funny story. We were hoping to see/meet some famous Country singers, but no luck there. Many of them are known to pop in to the bars and do an improptu performance. We were walking downtown one night and i spotted a tour bus. So, we made our way down to it and it was parked in front of Tootsies, a Nashville landmark honkey-tonk (which was the first one we went into when we arrived). There was a large crowd formed, but nobody seemed to know who was inside. Come to find out, it was Kesha (the pop singer) and she was just hanging out. My buddy has pictures of her drinking out of a Jack Daniels bottle while standing on the bar. Ill have to see if i can get it lol. Soo, no Country stars, but we did see a singer.
