  1. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but...is that YFD Commish Pagano? If so, looks like the Commish is trying to make the best of things for that young boy. Great picture for sure.
  2. EMSer... I'd love to photocopy one of my pay stubs to show you my weekly deductions. However, i am sure that you would then b**** and moan that i am paid too much and that of course is my Union's fault right? All of the members who have posted before me have hit the nail on the head repeatedly. You still fail to produce facts and many of your statements are baseless. Many Union jobs such as Police, Fire and DPW were waaaay under-paid for years. These were jobs that nobody wanted. So, many people went to work for companies such as IBM where they made good money. Through the years, the Unions which you bash, worked hard to get better compensation for its members. All of a sudden, these jobs became more appealing. Now the people that rode their high horse all the way to the bank for all those years are crying that us Union members are over-paid and over-compensated. Look, you're more than entitled to your opinion. I actually enjoy the fact that you continue to go back and forth with the other members who reply to your posts. Unfortunately, as most have said, you still fail to produce legitimate factual information to back up your statements.

  4. I have no words for this. WTF is wrong with society today? For people in their teens/early 20's to think of such a horrific crime is unbelievable and just plain scary. CNN - The suspected ringleader of a group arrested for allegedly luring a 15-year-old boy to a Florida home, shooting him several times, burning his body in a fire pit and putting the remains into paint cans, could face the death penalty if convicted, his attorney said Thursday. 5. I was the one who posted the Incident Alert about this last night. I had been listening to the scanner on and off, but was only getting bits and pieces. I knew there was a water rescue of some sort, that was about it. Later on i heard that it was for a vehicle in the water. As i drove to work this morning, i heard the horrific news on the radio. I was stunned and literally sick to my stomach. I cant say much more that hasn't already been said. JBE hit the nail on the head as many others have. All i can say is that my heart goes out to those poor children and to the sole survivor. He is 10 years old, old enough to know what he saw and went through. As JBE stated, there will be a special place in hell for the "mother." Also, im glad to see that soo many of you have included the emergency service members who were involved in this incident. This is one of those calls that you could never prepare for and will never be forgotten. My thoughts go out to those Fire, Police and EMS members who were involved.

  8. Awesome picture, thanks for sharing. Just goes to show what a small world we really live in. Kudos to Chief Goldfeder for stopping (while en-route to a prior commitment) and lending a hand. I too had the opportunity to meet D/C Goldfeder back in 2006. Unfortunatley, it was at a LODD wake in New Jersey. However, i was very impressed to see that he made the trip from Ohio. He actually approached me as he recognized (and who couldnt) my maroon uniform.

  10. What a skell, total disgrace to the shield! By his actions, he directly put his fellow LEO's in extreme danger by "outing" them to dealers. Its a miracle no LEO was hurt or worse. Lock him up for the max! Im still taken back by the fact that he was able to retire? That would lead me to assume that he is collecting his pension as well, no? Unbelievable
  11. Excellent photos and info Chief, thank you for sharing. Its been said already, but definately awesome work by all FD, PD and EMS involved. Chris, i like your Autobahn comment, scary but true! I would assume speed played a big factor in this incident.

  16. Wooooow, WTF is wrong with these people? I hope this jack-off gets charged with more than a DUI and unauthorized use. The fact that a Police Officer was along for the ride is the icing on the cake. Apparently no brains between any of them. The house that they were drinking at is owned by the (vol) fire company??? Soo, vol FF's can live in this house i presume, to be able to respond to calls. Instead, it sounds as if the house is used more to the tune of a frat house. What a disgrace!

  20. wooooooow, WTF? What is with the combo-depts in Maryland? There always seems to be issues down there. Why was a vol. FF allowed to have his "date" sleep over in the 1st place? Then this date goes and urinates in a persons (doesnt matter vol, career, joe blow) bed? To top it off, the poor SOB was apparently sleeping in the bed at the time. Sounds like a real classy lady! Personally, someone would have been getting their teeth handed to them. However, the career FF is most likely held to a higher standard and had to restrain himself. Although, shes right up there with the stem-wackers that are urinating on the career FF's cars. Its no shock that the volunteer association is looking into a lawsuit against the career association and/or County. From reading the article, sounds like a real cluster with a bunch of immature, unprofessional jack-offs that need to grow up or get out! Hell, if they cant find a solution, get rid of the vols in that station all together. If these guys cant get along and get the job done, then they're not needed in my opinion. God bless and best of luck to the career guys stationed at this house.

  24. PFD, some very good, valid questions and concerns. I know that when i rode with Peekskill VAC, we had some vests on our rigs (or at least the 1st due). If i remember correctly, they were "hand-me-downs" from Peekskill PD. I am currently a member of Cortlandt VAC and we do NOT have ballistics vests. I also do not know of any other vac's or FDs that carry them. Ballistics vest's are usually replaced within 5 or so years, much like turn-out gear. Many times, there may be nothing wrong (technically) with the vests. Its just that it is reccommended that they be replaced as they may break down from normal wear andtear and things such as sunlight. However, there are still many PD agencies that dont require/mandate that their members wear their vests. Im sure some of the LEO's on here can offer more concrete info.
