Dan, great thread. I love the shots of the Po-Town lids. I love hearing of and seeing the history of the fire service and helmets have a history of their own. I have never seen a "reversible" front before, am i alone in that? I think thats a great idea and something that could/should be used today. Real neat orange Probie on one side, black on the other lol. Ill have to take a pic of my helmet the next time im at the Firehouse. Its my second n5a and its a 2005 that i had re-furbed to look like an early 90's n5a.

RIP Officer McCandless. Another life taken way too young and for no reason. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery to the injured Officers. There have been far too many Officers killed this year, especially by gunfire. To our LEO brothers on this site, stay safe and stay vigilant.

As always, Frank got some great shots. Good shot of the Career FF's (tan gear/yellow helmets) stretching the initial line. Looks like a quick stop by LMFD, nice work. Glad to hear nobody was injured. Also, nice shot of Career FF Andy LaRocca making his way up with the TIC...just saw that picture.

Dan, nice work! Good thinking on your part to not only take note of the Troopers actions, but to get a pic of it as well. Thanks for sharing and kudos to this patriotic Trooper!

It would be a lifelong dream-come-true for me to get on the job. But quite honestly, i have become very discouraged in the last few years. I still cant fathom how the old test was racist. We have beaten this horse many a time, so i wont go crazy. But as many guys have said, what happened to "the best candidate(s) gets the job?" I know many guys on the job who's life dream was to be a fireman. But they now see this nonsense and some of the people who are spoon-fed the job and they're disgusted. I feel for those on the job and those who will get on the job in the future. It seems as the career fire service is losing that pride and tradition that was a huge part of the job. Best of luck to those of you who plan to take the exam.

res6cue...To my knowledge, the Verplanck FD Dive Team no longer exists and hasnt in several years. Its a shame because they were a good asset, especially being right on the river. A few years back there was talk of starting a Tri-Village Dive Team, but it never happened.

These 2 Paramedics are an excellent example of how all of us in Emergency Services should be. They went above and beyond in my opinion and really showed compasion and their hearts. Hats off to them! Nice pictures Chief, thanks for sharing. I was actually on the river this morning for boat qualification and we could see the column of smoke and knew it had to be a structure. The smoke was carrying accross the river pretty good. We could actually see the smoke from parts of New Windsor as we made our way down to Cornwall Landing. Was nice to see the smoke change color and disipate as we were out there lol.

Pat, that was a good one. I have been meaning to bring my camera to work so i could get a shot of the old Cortlandt Eng. Co. Figures JT beat me to it and knew it lol. I figured it wouldnt be fair for a Tri-Villager to make a guess. It later became the Montrose Free Library, but is currently a dance studio i believe.
