  1. It certainly is Dan! Maxim's have certainly stood the test of time. Thanks firedude. Well said! This is exactly what the Chief of Middletown Springs had said. No electronic BS to worry about. The stick is all hydraulically run. He said it is soo simple to run and very smooth. Many of the newer ladders are very "touchy," where as this one is more nimble. This truck had a gas powered motor with a standard transmission. At somepoint, i believe the early 90s (?), it was changed over to an automatic transmission with a diesel motor.
  2. Maybe i am wrong, but from looking at the flyer, i see no indication of Police, Fire or EMS involvement? Either way, seems like an interesting Expo.
  3. Im just curious...are you referring to the wetdown as a waste of taxpayers money? Or are you referring to the actual piece of apparatus? Again, just curious as your statement was kind of broad.
  4. For and early 90's (?) Ford, it looks to be in good shape. Especially since it served and ran alot in Greenville and Fairview. Is the work being done by the Greenburgh DPW shops?
  5. Best of luck with the test. Give yourself plenty of time to get there and maybe have a light breakfast beforehand. Dont rush yourself either, use the time wisely. Again, good luck.

  7. Seth, a simultaneous raid of 3 seperate locations was conducted a week or so ago in Newburgh. I know that they were targeting gang members and drug charges. I will see if i can find any of the articles. On a side note, i recently heard a rumor that Newburgh wants to lay off something like 16 Police Officers! The City of Newburgh needs MORE officers, not less IMHO.
  8. Happy birthday Dan, enjoy it!

  12. Hey everyone. My wife and i love to travel and when possible, i try to get some buffy pictures. We usually find ourselves traveling to the Carribean or other beach destinations. However, we have both come to the conclusion that there are soo many places here in the States that we'd like to explore. With that said, we spent the last week of July vacationing through Oregon and Washington State. We flew into Portland, Oregon and spent 2 days there. We then drove our rental car into Washington and up the Coast, where we stopped off at some destinations. We spent one night in Port Townsend, a cool little Port City. Early the next morning we hoped on the ferry and over to the Orcas Island where we spent 2 days. Orcas Island is part of the San Juan Islands off of the Washington State coast, which is absolutely beautiful. We then left the Islands and drove into Seattle, Washington. We were only there for a night, so i wasnt able to photo hunt. Anyway, i will share some pictures that i had taken. Ill try and include some non-buff shots as well lol. Hope you enjoy them. First up: City of Portland Heavy Rescue-1. We were lucky enough to meet these guys in the coffee shop attatched to our Hotels lobby.
  13. Good evening Captain, Unfortunately, places to legally ride are few and far between. I ride friends/in-laws machines in Vermont or upstate New York without incident. Its a damn shame you have to travel to enjoy some recreational ATVing. I have some friends who ride regularly, ill check with them and hopefully have some answers for you.
  14. George, all i can say is: Spot on brother! Just want to say nice job by all PD's involved. Nice to see the PD mutual-aid coming together. Hope the Park Rangers werent hurt badly and for a speedy recovery.
  15. Thanks, glad you liked the photos. I must say, my wife is cool as hell and isnt bothered by much. I try and make my public safety "photo shoots" as quick as possible though. However, sometimes its easy to lose track of time when talking with other emergency service personel. I dont want to take up too much of our vacation time any more than she does. I just treat her to a nice dinner and drinks to thank her lol. The weather was crazy in Oregon and Washington when we were there. Everyone was saying we lucked out and must have brought the east coast weather with us. We were prepared for damp, rainy, dreary, overcast days. We packed our raincoats, as well as jeans, long sleeve shirts and hoodies. Somehow, it was hot as hell and i was in shorts and a tee-shirt 99% of the time. Figures though. We spent last week in Myrtle Beach (SC), Nags Head (NC) and Ocean City (MD) and had to come home early because of Irene.

  19. George, Mt. Rainier is absolutely amazing. Seattle is a beautiful City and i would love to spend some more time out there for sure. We were too pressed for time, so we didnt order any fish unfortunately. However, we did watch others order fish and what a show lol. Think my better half may have gotten pics and/or video of the flying fish, ill have to check. Thanks Ken, much appreciated! Yes, we had a blast. As with any vacation, it ended too soon. Thanks Kyle, thanks for looking. I also bought my wife a flight lesson in R.I. for our anniversary. I see youre a Pilot; maybe ill dig some of those shots up to share, you may appreciate them.

  24. We ended our trip in Seattle. Unfortunately, we only had 1 evening/night there. Here are some pictures of the sights in Seattle. The famous Pike Place Market. Some shots of our visit to Seattle's Space Needle. And the last picture to share of my Pacific Northwest trip; a shot of a Seattle Fire Station. Again, there was nobody there to talk to or to get apparatus shots. This is the most pictures i have ever shared on this site lol. Thanks for looking and i hope you enjoyed at least some of them.
