  1. Haz-Mat 1 and the 2nd Piece should be right behind them.
  2. Who might that be? When does R4 arrive?
  3. I stand corrected, you are right. What I meant to say is that Motorola puts them in at Seagrave.
  4. Yes, they still have their aerials made by Smeal.
  5. Seagrave does not put in the radios. I believe each rig was 800K+ and the total price includes an additional 9 or so units above the initial 21 units to be done at a later date.
  6. Just to clarify, although it was initially reported as a "ceiling collapse" it was certainly not a ceiling. What collapsed was actually an entire roof section of a one story brick and steel section of the school which was under demolition. The entire roof section pancaked with 2 workers on it who were buried under the collapsing parapet walls. Both workers suffered major trauma injuries and one is critical in a coma on a respirator. Hopefully he will survive. The photo on LoHud shows the scene. http://www.lohud.com/article/20091101/NEWS...-2-workers-hurt Thank you to those who responded; NRFD,FDMV.PMFD and Empress Medics.
  7. I have to agree here. MOST accidents are preventable. In some rare cases they are due to extenuating circumstances such as mechanical failure or weather or such. However this APPEARS like many to be attributed to driving practices. Thankfully no one (MOS or civilians) were killed in what looks like a catastrophic collision. It is a miracle they ALL survived but some of their lives will be changed by this incident. How many apparatus accidents occur every year? and how many injuries or deaths occur from them? Don't we face enough inherent danger as it is? We must change the way we respond to incidents or this will continue to be a problem. You have to apply risk vs. benefit to responding as well. In this case the risk did not outweigh the benefit as we clearly see by the tragic outcome. I preach to my crew all the time about responding appropriately to every incident and they understand that I do this because I am ultimately responsible for us getting there safely and would have to answer for whatever went wrong. Just as the Officers of these two companies (as well as the chauffeurs) will have to do somewhere down the road. I hope everyone fully recovers and that the rest of us learn from this and SLOW DOWN and be more careful when responding. We owe that to each other and the public.

  12. They are Smeal Aerials on HME Chassis
  13. I don't know why Sprint doesn't just activate their Q-Chat PTT feature on the CDMA Curve model? That would be a great unit giving you EVDO Data and PTT use. Makes no sense!
  14. Ditto, Rapid Fire is the way to go! Give him a call; 914-588-6976 www.rapidfireservices.com
  15. You forgot to mention "Pray the phone does'nt ring" !! #616 1986-1987
  16. It was my understanding that if you were already on a Free Incoming plan prior to Sprint eliminating it, then you were "Grandfathered"? I could be wrong though. Were you on the Free Incoming? You should have been allowed to stay on it. Also, if you were being charged for minutes during your Night & Weekend period you should be able to get credit for that. I've had fairly good success with resolving issues with them lately. I know they've been horrible in the past but lately they seem to be more willing to satisfy. Are you calling reg. Customer Service or Gov't accounts? If your in Public Safety you should be on a Gov't Individual account. Reg. cust. service is definetly not as good as Gov't Cust Service. Yes the Network was terrible for a couple of years but it's gotten better again, at least in my opinion (anybody else?) Finally, there's always the Everything Plan if your a heavy user.
  17. Lucy!.......... you got some "splaining" to do!
  18. When I got on FDMV in 1988 we had 5 Engine Co's (Eng.1 had just been decommissioned) 3 Ladder Co's and the Rescue. Foam 1 was kept in Sta.2 and was manned by Eng.5 back step man when needed to respond. In years earlier they even had a Rescue 2 which was manned and did primarily EMS. From what I was told by the senior men was that back when the Rescue ran out of it's own quarters on Fulton Ave. with 5 or 6 men, they used to work a 56 hour work week. Good Luck to Noah & Teddy. They have a very tough road ahead of them. It's no easy job to take over a department where moral is very low.
  19. Just like to say Thank You to our Brothers from Greenville, Hartsdale, Fairview, White Plains, Mount Vernon, Pelham Manor and DES for all their help! We got hit very hard and very quickly. This proved the system works! Thanks again! Pelham FD (Group 3)

  21. The guy on the turntable on the left is the FDMV Mechanic and the White Shirt on the ground is an FDMV Deputy Chief.
  22. What are you talking about (particularly the bold/underlined)? Thank you, I was going to ask the same question!
  23. This rig was one of three FDNY High-Pressure Units Ferrara built for the city. It has been retro-fitted with a Waterous single-stage 1500 gpm pump.
  24. I like the Ferrara Ultra cab, other than FDNY and Mount Vernon, NY and now Pelham- did any other Ultra's get delivered? None, to my knowledge Since this is a 2004, was this a demo or did it see service somewhere else? Never, only went to shows. Also, will Engine 5 become the new primary Engine, or will Engine 4 still retain that title? Also, what's the status on R-45? Engine 5 will become first due. R45 is in reserve status.
  25. This week Verizon Wireless set and industry milestone by launching a Nationwide Unlimited Calling Plan for $99.99 per month. Additional add-on services are offered with higher tier plans. This was followed by T-Mobile countering with their version and including text messaging for the same price point of $99.99 per month. Then AT&T announced it too will follow suit on Friday Feb. 22, 2008 with their Nationwide Unlimited Calling Plan also offered at $99.99 per month. All this, off the heels of Sprint's rumored consideration of launching a Nationwide Unlimited Calling Plan to help bring back lost subscribers. So everyone felt Sprint's new CEO Dan Hesse made a fatal error by leaking a hand (strategy) he hadn't played yet, Right? Well, it is now rumored in industry circles that Sprint may be launching their version of this "Plan War" at a price point of possibly $60.00 per month! If this becomes a reality (which seems to be the case) was this a strategic move by Sprint's CEO to lure all the other carriers to set the bar first? If so it seems pretty crafty don't you think. Both AT&T & Verizon ( #1 & #2) not wanting Sprint to gain any momentum on their already well known failing business ( losing over 687,000 subscriber in the Q4 of last year) may have shot themselves in the foot! How many of you out there will jump on a $60 per month unlimited plan? Let's keep our fingers crossed!! Stay tuned................................................
