Briarcliff: E92, E94, R37 All have Hurst spreaders, cutters and rams. E92 and R37 have portable units as well as an on board power unit. I'm not 100% sure about the specs of E94, however i believe they also have the same setup.

I am going to school recently and was driving around City Hall only a few minutes before this and saw Squirt 43 driving by. They seemed to be driving a lot faster than any apparatus should in a crowded city at noon time. Way too many cars around. Not sure where they were exactly going. There are conflicting reports from various news agencies as to where they were going. Some say a fire at 22nd and Warren St, which doesn't exist. Those 2 streets never meet. Others say 12th and Locust. If 12th and Locust is true, I'm not sure how they ended up at 8th and Lombard. Some are saying they were coming from 2 separate calls when they crashed. They are stationed at 21st and Market St. These are far distances for these trucks to be covering. I know that they're coverage zone starts on a part of Drexel University's campus at 32nd and Market. I dont know how far it goes but it seems like thats a lot of area for 2 trucks to cover. Speedy recovery to all

SVU films a good portion of their episodes in Westchester. Many jailhouse scenes are shot at Westchester County Jail. Many forensic scenes have been shot at the county's forensics labs.

Any updates on this fire? Story: http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...430/1020/NEWS04

Every ambulance that is part of the Philadelphia Fire Dept. has a dual tone siren. Don't think it confuses people since they still don't get out of the way...
-
Initial dispatch for a kitchen fire, PD on scene with smoke/flames showing from rear, re-tone updating call to a structure fire.

i witnessed a recent mva/hit and run on the TSP in the early morning and stopped to make sure the driver was ok. she had a neck injury with a small laceration to her foot. She was in pain, however, didn't want to go to the hospital because she had to get to work. The H.E.L.P. truck operator informed me that the ambulance was not coming because she said that she didn't want to go. He said it was their protocol only to dispatch the ambulance if the victim wanted to go, whether anyone medically trained was on scene or not. He also added something about a ambulance fee for coming out and he didn't want the victim to have to pay for it if she didn't want to go. Keep in mind, nobody medically trained had checked the victim out. I had enough sense to make sure she didn't move and convinced her to go to the hospital to get check out, however, i am not an EMT, just made sense to me... Is it me or should the victim still be check out by EMS personnel? Shouldn't EMS be the ones to RMA the victim if they still don't want to go?

I'm currently in Philly and some of there engines are fairly new(2002-present) ALF Squirts. I'm assuming they are still making the tele-squirts.

I am a film student and I use Avid Xpress Pro. I use it for both presentation videos and editing feature and short films with footage from either Mini DV, DVCAM, 16mm, or 35mm film. I currently run it on a custom built PC with the Canopus ADVC-110 (allows audio and video to be imported and exported using RCA, S-Video, or firewire), a JVC VHS-Mini-DV deck, and a JVC preview monitor. I am waiting to run Avid Xpress Pro on my new MacbookPro because Avid has not released the fix for the Mac-Intel Processors yet. Avid Xpress Pro costs about $1500 and as of now Avid is the movie industry standard. It works on both Mac and PC. If you are looking for a cheaper program, Sony makes a program called Vegas+DVD. It has both video editing and DVD authoring in it and runs about $550 or so. If you know a student or teacher who can buy these for you off of academicsuperstore.com or studica.com, then I would go for Avid Xpress Pro because its about $250 with the student discount and you get everything that you get for $1500. The Avid Mojo with Avid Xpress Pro is also a good package. THe Avid Mojo is used to import and export through Avid. It is more expensive but from what I hear its well worth it.

I'm currently living in Philly while attending school and have been riding on almost a regular basis with Engine 44 here. E44 is based in Mantua, a section of West Philadelphia. As far as I know. All of the above fires have occurred in areas either similar to or worse than the area that E44 covers. Many of the buildings go against code. I responded with them one night on a box. They were the first due engine being that it was a few blocks away. Upon arrival, we noticed that it was a church on fire. When the members of E44 entered they realized it was no longer a church. The church had been converted into apartments. The fire was reported by phone and not by smoke detectors and no smoke detectors were found in the entire building. The occupants were very lucky that they all got out in time. Throughout Philly there are a lot of buildings like this and it doesn't seem like the government has made a big enough effort to fix this. I'm sure they will now though.

3 Injured In Philly Firehouse Accident January 6, 2007 Pennsylvania - A fire truck apparently slipped out of gear, crashed into the back of a firehouse and caught fire Saturday, injuring three firefighters, officials said. Firefighters were moving the truck at the station in the city's West Oak Lane section when it lurched forward, said Daniel Williams, executive fire chief. Investigators believe the truck's transmission had jumped out of gear, but the exact cause remained under investigation, Williams said. A second company was brought in to help fight the blaze. The firehouse, used to house reserve fire trucks, was seriously damaged. Two vehicles also were damaged. One firefighter was hit by the truck but was listed in good condition, and two other firefighters were released after treatment for smoke inhalation, Williams said. Written by Associated Press

I found out today that 2 engines and a medic unit were destroyed in this fire... While i was up at Engine 44's house today i did here Engine 73 get dispatched for a call so I believe they are running out of a different house. This is from phillyfirenews.com: Engine-73 apparently jump out of gear and pinned two firefighters against a wall of the firehouse. Rescue-1 and the collapse unit were requested to the scene. B/C-9 reported a fire had started secondary to the collapse and had heavy fire through the roof. Placed all hands in service. Three firefighters were transported to a trauma center. All injuries are reported to be non life threatening.
