I read this article and wish that I could have taken place in the study. Since I started doing Civil service, I have always loved to work 4-12's and Mids. I can say that I am an insomniac and it usually takes me 3-4 hours after a tour to fall asleep and that doesn't usually happen since I have daddy day care. I know what my body requires to function, and it isn't much!

I have been off the grid since my computer crashed and I forgot my password. I have been to too many Police and Fire funerals, and that was by far the biggest I have ever been to. We were near the LIRR standing 6 deep and I could barely hear the pipers playing. What a sad day, but a great sendoff. I hope his fund hits millions and millions more. RIP Brother!!

The Killing of any human being other than self defense should be met with the death penalty. I think every Dec 30th we should hang all the guilty in Times Square. Be a good pregame before the Ball drops!

I guess NC figured he's NY's problem now why bring him back here! It's such a disgrace our Justice System. We need prisons like Papillon. You plead guilty or are found Guilty, no appeals, off you go. If you can escape, well then society will welcome you back!

Yesterday's tragedy was an ambush while the officer was on a traffic stop. There was a shooter on campus that had not been caught at the time of the shooting so it is and Active Shooter case in my opinion. Lock down of the campus was a smart thing to do. As for 2 man police cars, I don't see that happening in very many places when PD's are talking about budget cuts and laying PO's off.

Judge Judy makes it a regular point on her show when she find out people are on disability or welfare. She always says she is gonna send a tape of her show to the respected State's Government. I hope she does!

If any of you think that I agree with this woman, you are totally wrong! The point I was trying to make is that 1, maybe the ambulance crew could have positoned the ambulance in a better spot. I don't think they parked it to inconvience the public, but it did. 2, maybe this PO didn't know that he could move the amb or he could have asked the crew if he could move it. I wasn't there so that could have been suggested when this woman just decided to move it on her own. As for moving my veh, as I posted before, if it was someone on my job or another PD Agency, I would not have a problem with it. It has happened where a VFD member moved a PD Veh and the VFD member came very close to being arrested.

To all my Public Service Brothers and Sisters, but mainly LEO's. Today is Dec 1, what starts what we call SUS or Sitck Up Season. Please Be aware of your surroundings no matter what time of day. In these hard Economic times, people are resorting to comminting many types of crimes to provide for themselves or their families. If you see or hear something that doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. If you are home during the day, watch for packages being delievered to your neighbor's and watch for people removing same from your neighbors houses. Many people will be attending CHRISTMAS PARTIES at all times of the day and night which could result in Robberies and DWI's, always keep your heads on a swivel. It's hard enough for us in LE to go to work during the HOLIDAY SEASON, but it's alot more important that we make IT HOME TO OUR FAMILIES TO ENJOY THE HOLIDAY SEASON! BE SAFE!!!

It isn't the PD's responsobility to secure the ambulance. Maybe if they pulled up at the same time he/she could suggest putting the ambulance in a different spot, but if the PO is already tending to the patient, the amb crew should use some common sense!
-
What makes you think that the PD has the right to move the ambulance. I can just see if for some reason the PO hit something. Do you mean DWI Interlock devices? That would seem pretty idiotic if you ask me. Maybe if the driver of the ambulance positioned it as to not inconvience others on the road this wouldn't be an issue! I can tell you this, anyone other than myself or another LEO from either my job or another job moved my patrol car they would be in handcuffs as well!

I have always been all for a fleet of marked vehicles being keyed alike. I have been on calls where keys were locked in a running Police car and another car has to go back to HQ to get the lock out tool to open the car. This now takes 2 Patrol units OOS. If they were all keyed alike, you can keep a spare on your key ring as long as it's in your pocket and not attached to you bag in the now locked Veh! If the amb was locked and this woman broke into it, a Crim Mischief charge prob would have been added due to the damage she would have had to do to open the door.

Journal News NEW CITY — Rockland County's proposed $7.25 million law enforcement cuts will increase crime and severely hamstring the county's abilities to investigate and prosecute people charged with crimes, police and prosecutors said Thursday. They plan to lobby the county Legislature to restore the money and not eliminate the Sheriff's Office Police Division. The proposal calls for firing 30 of the division's 69 officers and transferring 30 others to the legally required inmate transport unit. The proposed cuts mean no forensic investigations at crime scenes, no arson investigations, no bomb squad, a diminished task force to target drug dealers, no horse, marine and anti-terrorism units, and no crime analysts and investigation.

I understand what you are saying. You would think that when people retire they would back fill them with new hires. We are having the same problem on my job. A couple of guys retired and some are out on comp and they only hired 1 when we really needed at least 4. Good luck and be safe!!
-
I agree with you, but when is enough, enough? I am all about everyone getting theirs, but there also comes a point when a person is actually losing money by sticking around. I am pretty sure everyone has the number in their heads around the 17 year mark on what they need to get out in 20, if that is what your retirement is. Unless you are in a position to get a promotion, I think if you hit your mark then retire. I also do understand that some unforseen things do come up negating this option.

I think that maybe some people should retire! Wouldn't that save and maybe open up some spots for others on the a list?
