Well Said. We have 3 FD's at least. All with the same Equipment and less than 2 miles away from each other. GIVE ME A BREAK. WHAT A JOKE. And it's not like they are out all day answering alarms. I guess it is good for PARADE SEASON though!!

I can't speak for the Airport, but I can speak for the Kensico Dam. I know the boundaries as does North Castle since we have had Jumpers down many times. I am pretty sure the COUNTY doesn't handle these calls unless the person makes it to certain part of the Plaza that makes it COUNTY PROPERTY. Please abolish the 42 little jobs and make us all one. That would be awesome. As long as I started at Top Pay and we figured out some sort of Seniority I am all down with that. Much more could get done in this County then. I wasn't saying Elimainate COUNTY PD. I was saying let other Agencies help out. As for the OT. All you have to do is read the paper and you can see what some of your guys are making on OT. One would think that hiring some other people would cut some of this OT. But if you say it doesn't than it must be true.
-
Well Chris as for the Airport you can have North Castle PD and/or Harrison cover what goes on. Kensico Dam you can have MPPD, DEP, and NCPD cover that. I know that on the busy days like concerts or July 4th we may need your help but for the rest of the year it is kinda ridiculous for it to be WCPD property. As is it now, we respond down there for calls prior to you having a car get there. As for the Bike path, if a crime occurs it should be the job of the PD where the crime occured. You can keep Social Services, The County Center, and Playland. How much OT does the County have a day going to The Airport, SS, COUNTY CENTER, etc...? I don't think you can eliminate the COUNTY GOV'T, but you can cut down on how much money they spend by letting other AGENCIES cut into the WCDPS budget. Just so you know, I am NOT ANTI COUNTY POLICE. I have many friends there and maybe even a relative now so don't think this is about that.

Maybe that is why I saw so many "little green people". Oh wait, that could have been people from the Yonkers St. Paddy's Day Parade!

I think he wants to go to a STATE WIDE VOLUNTEER SYSTEM!!
-
I betcha there is a resident of School St right now that has a warrant on them. Look, it might not have been the right way to do it, but it got the job done. I don't think that FF's are in any more danger now than they were before going into a not so nice place. People who could be going back to jail really don't give a crap what kind of UNIFORM we wear. ALS I don't want a large farva. I want a goddamn litre o' cola!
-
I don't think that I am wrong for thinking that it might have been a good idea. You guys go to fires in some pretty crappy placed don't you? What is the difference that the PD usued you guys as a tool to get a dangerous person out of a building and into custody? THat is why I love the USA, we can still get along.
-
I am sure that people watch police shows. Have you ever seen an LEO dress up as a "PACKAGE DELIVERY PERSON" to do a controlled drug bust? That is WAY more dangerous than what happened here. The situationi was resolved without anybody getting hurt and that should be the main thing. No what if's either because there were NONE.

We have an LPR and I kinda like it. I find it is easier to be stationary. The other day there was an AMBER ALERT I think from upstate and we manually programmed the plate of the suspect veh into the database. I don't think it is big brother. As others have said, if you haven't done anything wrong, then you don't have anything to worry about.
-
How about you save your money. Your gonna need it after I write you a ticket for all those silly lights.
-
Amen. In your number 1 I don't believe that everyone's call volume is too high. I just think that they can't get out. There is no reason that certain agencies should have to be toned out 2-3 times. INSANSE. #2. I have been saying that for years. COUNTY WIDE DISPATCH FOR AMBULANCES. What is so hard about this?
-
Maybe he was just worried that his FF would melt if they got wet. ZING ZING Just trying to have a little fun with everyone.

JOURNAL NEWS Third Mount Vernon firefighter kicked out of academy By Hannan Adely • The Journal News • January 6, 2009 MOUNT VERNON - A third city firefighter has been kicked out of the Westchester County fire training academy for receiving too many demerits for disciplinary violations. Francis Stone, 39, was dismissed from the academy Friday, four weeks short of graduation. Mount Vernon Fire Commissioner Noah Lighty said Stone had 12 demerits for infractions that included lagging behind in physical training and being untruthful to instructors.

"This place got a pool"? "Pool and a pond... Pond be good for you". Just had to put that in. From a very famous movie. Happy New Year to all. BE SAFE!

Wow, in the past week 4 SCUMBAGS have been aqcuitted of KILLING A COP in NYC. What a Joke. Is it the jury system or lack of brains by the DA's office? Come on now. I hope Karma comes back and gets all these guys.

I downloaded a GPS program for my CELL. It is pretty good but it can't find my brothers house in CT. Standing in his driveway and hitting locate puts me in the middle of space. I was told that it was because it was a new street. At least I didn't turn onto the TRAIN TRACKS!

Chris not sure how long ago you had the desk or if you even had to take the desk. But lets just say you answer the phone and it is a medical call. Are you not going to try your best to give instructions to the person on the phone? That is what I meant by IMROVISE EMD. I don't have the flip chart in front of me but ANY HELP I CAN GIVE IS BETTER THAN WHAT IS BEING DONE WHILE EMS IS ENROUTE right?
-
That's my point. If I am alone how can you expect me to EMD or IMPROVISE EMD? I can't just let other lines ring can I? If 60 handled those types of calls they have other co-workers that can handle other calls. 636, 60 should hire more people. I have to say at work I don't listen to you guys unless I have too. You know why? You sound awfuly busy all the time. What is a few more VAC's/FD's to dispatch? LOL
-
I am not EMD certified but I bet ya I can talk somebody through and EMERGENCY on the PHONE. I have done it many times. Not speaking for other PO's though. I have/had lots of EMS experience. Although you follow the flip charts when EMDing, I never have. COMMON SENSE. STEP 1-STEP INFINITY. The problem is COPS don't want to EMD. They don't even want to be on the desk. So why teach someone something that they no they are going to hate?

Journal News SCARSDALE - The village police union last night announced a vote of no confidence against Human Resources director Michael Delong and demanded that Scarsdale reverse its decision requiring an officer injured in the line of duty to pay for his medical benefits until he returns to work. Not sure if it was posted or not or if this should be moved to a General Discussion Arena but I figured I would post it here. The turnout for the meeting was incredible. It was nice to see not only the many members of the PBA's in the area, but also that amount of FF's from the area as well. This effects all of us if this OFFICER does not receive his Benefit's.
-
Your right is is my JOB. I want my job to be EASIER. Call comes in I then have to DISPATCH THE MEDIC AND AMBULANCE, A POLICE OFFICER then the VAC has to CALL IN for some reason all while the phones COULD BE RINGING off the HOOK. And this is when we are ALONE on a middie. At least 60 has at least 3 people working that could easily handle this call. It is what it is. It's not going to change. BUT ONE CAN WISH IN THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON.
-
My Christmas wish would be for 60 Control to dispatch ALL MEDICS, VAC's and FD's in the COUNTY that way I wouldn't have to do it. PLEASE SANTA CAN YOU HELP ME OUT.

Every year around the Holidays that Terror Threat goes up. You shouldn't be that surprised to see ESU and others carrying M-4's. As a matter of fact, you should be used to it by now.
