There is a Tow rotation and Mt Pleasant only uses two Tow companies. The accident happened early Sat morn so the traffic was not as heavy as it would have been on a weekday! Glens does a fantastic job with tows. Fast and professional! As is Mark's Tow!

When are we as Police Officers gonna realize that pointing a gun at me/us should not result in being tased! Yes, it has worked out in the Police favor in both these local cases, but it will bite us in the arse! Point a gun at me, and see what happens!! The big problem is, the public now thinks this is the right way to handle this situation. Now when a LEO responds with shooting a suspect instead of tasing, the out cry will be out of control. I was not at either situation and I don't want to Monday morning QB, I just want to keep us all safe!

Let me make something clear, I was not in anyway saying these officers did a bad job! I read that article and posted it on here. The other incident happened in New Rochelle back in Jan and was almost the same situation except that a gun was pointed at LEO's according to the paper! I want everyone to be safe and remember, if you point a gun at me, I am gonna point mine at you, and fire!!

Joe that was my point exactly! I have learned that the Journal News may have shockinly reported the incident wrong! Apparently and this is only what I heard, the suspect had fled the area and was later subdued and arrested by the Police! Gun may have already been gone at that point. Call was originally for menacing! I think too many people in this Country are scared of what will happen if they do their job! Can't say what I would or will do. Hopefully what I am trained to do. Can't get blood from a stone!!

Like I was taught and told long ago! I would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6! These pieces of garbage get away with way too much. News 12 and the Jouranl would put their high school picture in the paper/tv and show what how clean cut they were. Meanwhile, they would dig up any bit of dirt on me they could. White, black, green, blue, purple, etc.....I am going home at the end of my tour. Point a weapon at me and there is gonna be trouble for you!!

I actually am part of our Commercial Veh Unit! We go out at least once a month and conduct such details. We don't have 4 lane one way roads here, but we do shut down one lane of a two lane road and stop and talk to hopefully every COmm veh that comes through. We don't have scales as of yet, and we do work with Westchester County PD who do have scales. We have used a shopping center in the past and have had no problem. I guess if we can't have a weigh station, this is the next best option. Alot safer than the side of the road!

When Northern Westchester started their Fly Car service back in 1999 0r 2000, I happened to be the first medic in the fly car. I happened to know the area from just driving around as a teen being bored. Anyway, I was amazed of how long it took from NWHMC to say a job in Vista or North Salem. Granted the fly car I was in was a piece of garbage and could not go over 60mph. It still took me a good amount of time to get amount of time to either get to the residence or intercept. Luckily, they now have 3 fly cars up in that area! I am not sure how many residents that covered and I only used those two towns as and example. But for the bigger picture, 1 Fly car to cover New Castle, Mt Kisco, Bedford Hills, Katonah, Somers, Lewisboro, Vista, North Salem and there are a great deal more. What a crazy time that was! Not sure if that has anything to do with what we are talking about but it might!

If you are sharing resources with another Agency, why not just form a TOWN WIDE EMS SYSTEM instead of 3 different Agencies? I know it would take alot of you to play nice in the sandbox, but it may benefit the taxpayers of the Town which is the most important thing. There can be an Election and everything for who would reign supreme of the EMS system!!

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong. Listen, this isn't some inner city where people call the 911 the PD for an ambulance just to go to the E.R. Most people are calling for an ambulance because they believe there is something wrong with them. It's not to get you out of bed at night to go and help them. You think I like getting to a call where the PT is waiting at the door? No, but sometimes it happens and often! BTW, if you couldn't tell I live in your jurisdiction so I expect an ambulance and a professional crew no matter what time of day I call!

I just caught wind of this thread and had to catch up! JJB as usual you are right on the money! When an EMS crew shows up to a call I have no idea how much experience they. It's not like they hand me their resume! To tell you the truth, I don't care how long you have been in EMS, just get to the scene. I am very comfortable on AIDED calls, but some of my collegues aren't. They just want EMS to get to the scene. I/We are sick of explaining to family members at 2am that we are waiting for the ambulance because they are volunteers and they have to drive from their houses to get the ambulance. Or that a the ambulance doesn't have a driver or etc... I could go on and on. Family members don't understand that stuff, they just want the ambulance there. Bottom line, get a crew there and get to the hospital.

How do you know where the intent is? If somebody gets caught before they commit a crime, then you don't know if they had intent do you? The bottom line here is that the weapon was in his glove compartment. If somebody didn't tell officials, then they would have had no idea that he had a weapon!!

Oh I get it!! When I got married my wife got me an engraved money clip as a gift. Leaving the the airport from Maui to Honolulu, securtiy stopped me and took the money clip because it had a file in it. I knew it, but didn't think to pack it when leaving for the airport. Anyway, they took it an put it in this lock box never to be seen again. Is the file a weapon? Not to me it isn't, but it could be, as could any of the above used IN THE WRONG WAY LIKE I PREVIOUSLY STATED! If someone charges me with a pencil in their hand and I shoot and kill or injury them am I justified? If they are just holding it in a threating manner I am still going to instruct that person to DROP THE WEAPON, not drop whatever object they are holding!

Tire irons, utility knives, leathermen, multi-tool and all the above are WEAPONS if used in the wrong capacity! If someone is hitting, stabbing, etc.. with these "tools" they are considered weapons! Maybe I need to be educated because I don't understand how you think that they are simply TOOLS.

What is wrong with that school district? The knife was in his GLOVE COMPARTMENT and he had no easy access to it at any time. This kids resume is pretty good as well. The kind of Citizen you would want in your town. I hope that powers that be at West Point have seen this story and give him a fair and balanced interview. What a bunch of TOOLS!!

I don't think I have ever seen the Emerald Society or Columbia association come out and say that somebody didn't get a promotion because they were Irish or Italian!! It seems that he Vulcans and other such Organizations like to play this card when they can. Bottom line, study for the test, pass the test, and wait to see what happens!!

Everyone needs to RELAX!! No I don't go on calls round the clock, but I bet I go on more calls than WPFD does! Seth I said that me writing tickets generates revenue for my town. I don't know how a Dept can issue a ticket. They aren't human! I understand about the bars and clubs in WP and how they need to be monitored for over crowding. I commend the FD for doing this. But, when pictures like this come out in the paper, it makes things not seem on the up and up. Do you really think that most of the public knows that the FD does checks in the middle of the night? Of course not! When somebody gets pulled over they may get a ticket right? In getting that ticket they may have to pay a fine right? Hence, making a municipality MONEY! REVENUE!! If Police Dept didn't write any tickets I bet there wouldn't be that many Police Dept around. Comm Veh details, STOP DWI DETAILS, CLICK IT OR TICK IT DETAILS, CELL PHONE DETAILS are all to stop people not complying with the law but they are also there because they do shockinly enough GENERATE REVENUE!! I am sorry they got caught on camera and I am sorry they put this in the media. It is what it is!! Mark Z thanks for telling me that I am all wet!! Prob means I am diving somewhere on OT!!
