I couldn't agree more! Someone should be held accountable if they can't fulfill their duties!
-
As I said before and I'll say again, some Agencies need to consolidate. I did not see what agencies these were, but I can assume I know one of them. At least in my town there should be a centralized EMS building that is staffed by paid and volunteer crews.

I don't think I found the right page!

Izzy would you mind if I posted this thread to my FB page? I found the other page!

What's the FB page?

I know the owners and many employees of their establishments. Has someone tried to contact management and tell them what happened? I know for a fact they will/would not put up with something like this. They have always been pro cop/ff/ems. They hold most of the 10-13 Benefits here in Westchester and almost always the employees give whatever they make to who the benefit is for. We also don't know both sides to the story! Just keep an opened mind until the whole story comes out!

I have actually been trying to enforce this. Usually I sit where I can monitor a traffic light. I have found that when there is a red light, that's when you catch them. The prob is, what section to write.I guess you can write for mobile phone in use while operating a MV. I have been writing no hands on steering device as a good cover. Accident reports now have this as an option as poss cause of accident. With most PD's I think switching over to mobile ticket systems, NYS shld add texting as a seperate section!

Does the FD have access to an air boat or hovercraft? If so, after you rescue The LOO from the top of my patrol car, you can take him back to shore so I can process him! Lol! Seriously, you may be able to bring a ladder out for the rescue!

I think it was necessary! Sorry!

When I first read this thread I posted it too my facebook page and I am almost positive it got back to the owner in a rather quick fashion. I happen to know the owner and quite a few bartenders there as well. As a matter of fact, I was there not too long ago and they DTRT if you know what I mean. If you don't like what was said, don't go back there. I am sure they won't miss your business! I am sure we all may have known people that died on 9/11 so grow some thicker skin!

Last week I was asked to assist The FBI and Dept of Labor Agents on the execution of an arrest warrant because they wanted a marked patrol car and uniformed officer. When I got to the briefing in a parking lot, the case agent advised me of the suspect name and picture. I was also advised that we were gonna sit in front of the suspect residence until 0600hrs. So basically 45min sitting IFO this suspects house. I decided that I was gonna place my patrol vehicle in safe but close proximity still having eyes on the residence. While waiting, I decided to look up the subject in our data base. It turned out that he had/has a license to carry a firearm. Did the other Agents know that? I have no idea. There was also some other info I was advised about that I can't/won't go into here. @ 0600hrs, the Agents pulled their 4-5 veh's in the driveway. House was still dark. We walked up an unshoveled walkway to the front door. 2-3 Agents stacked in "the fatal funnel". I was off to the side with eyes in the window. After making contact, the suspect was allowed to stay @ his residence due to medical reasons. While they were interviewing the suspect I got to talking to the other Agents that all seemed to have less than 3 years OTG. Not that it matters, I just thought they could have been more prepared.

Great post Joe! If we don't shoot on our own it's just not gonna happen. Most departments aren't going to pay us or for the extra ammo that we are gonna use unless we are in a specialized detail. I do like that we train with simmunitions. It puts that real life situation in our minds because often we are being ambushed or the sh@t hits the fan in a matter of seconds. When scenario's are over, the critique by the instructors is the most important point. We have a chance to see what we did right and wrong. I also think we need to review how these warrants/raids are being conducted. We are often going into Houses, Apt, etc... without knowing exactley who or what is in there. I know we try and get as much intel before going in as possible, but it doesn't seem to be helping. The ball is mostly in the bad guys court, and when they have nothing to lose we suffer. I am by know means a tactics expert, so I could be way off base. I know we like the element of surprise, but when thats gone what do we have? What if the powers to be just waited for these perps to leave their residences and arrest them with the odds in our favor? Just saying. Like I have stated before, it's about us going home at the end of our tours. I am gonna do everything in my power to make that happen for the rest of my career!

We as LEO's need to remember that's it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6! I keep hearing/reading officers killed during routine traffic stops. I don't consider any traffic stop routine simply because I have no idea most of the time who is in the vehicle. This country simply needs stricter penalties for 2nd and 3rd time offenders. No more plea bargins. Cop killers face the death penalty upon being found guilty and I mean within 1 month. Allow 1 month for a SPEEDY APPEAL and that's it. We must take back control. I am not saying go out and be rogue, just don't put up with sh#t cause your worried of being sued. Last time I looked you can't get blood from a stone! I am very frustrated cause I bleed BLUE and I want to keep all of our Brothers and Sisters safe!

I have been following these numbers as well. It seems some of these bad guys have nothing to lose and are getting the jump on LEO's. I wonder if it has to do with compliance or training! Just completed 10 and I like to think I am just or more aware of my surrondings when responding and arriving at a call. Some of these were preventable. Please be safe everyone!

This is such a big pet peeve of mine especially since I work lots and lots of midnights. I almost starting writing tickets to homeowners but haven't yet. Our fines aren't that big that people prob wouldn't care.

Let me see if I can explain how we work it. We need at least 4 PO's on the road and 1 PO or SGT on the desk. Ideally, we would like to have 4 PO's and 1 SGT on the road and another PO on the desk. In the case of somebody on light duty, we could have 3 PO's and 1 SGT on the road with the injured person on the desk. We have 4 main posts that cover the whole town. As manpower goes up, so does coverage. We also try to have a "Selective Enforcement" unit on the road if we can. Of course there are times where Det's or Lt's have to take calls as well. This is all based on the time of year. In the summer, it seems that we always have 4 on the road and a SGT on the desk for all 3 tours! It works for us. Could it be better, hell yeah it could. We are answering more calls and doing more cases and arrests with less PO's.

I was working when that happened and the Patient was transported in the back of a Tahoe. RT 9 was a parking lot at the time of the Aided case. Orginally it was not known that there was an accident. Bystanders were doing CPR when MPPD was called. Medic was dispatched along with an ambulance but there was NO WAY they could get through. I would have done the same thing!! If you wait for an ambulance and the Patient dies everyone will say well why didn't they transport in the police car. Damned if you do and damned if you don't!!! Good Job to my boys at MPPD on getting the Patient there ALIVE!!!

I'm not touching this one!!!

I need to play Devils Advocate on here as other people read my posts. Luckily I took off that night, but if Glen asked me to shut both lanes of North and South I would have done it. We have a good working realationship with Stiloski's on other levels. Wish we could add them to the tow rotation.
-
Thanks! Didn't know about the LoHud one either. Just signed up for both!
-
So would Stiloski's like if another tow agency picked up one of their jobs on the Saw Mill? Glens was very capable as would have been Marks's who also have Heavy Duty Wreckers! I am sure if Glen didn't think he could handle it, he might have made such a suggestion of Stiloski's. He is that type of man!
