How would this apply to your 360 degree size-up of the structure? Couldnt the IC take a quick look inside to ascertain the size and location of fire? This, in my eyes, fits size-up, one of the main arguments made by members of this site as being a crucial one in the initial stages. Just something to think about brother.

I havent been around for a while in my dept, but I believe we carry 39', 35', 24' extensions, and 12' roof on our Truck. I have never seen a "church" or "auditorium" raise in actuall fire situations, but remember my ladder class all too well.!!

Moose Good boy....Moose e-mailed Rob....Moose get treat now!!!

Auditorium raises!!! Ahhhh, that brings back memories of Ladder Ops Class! I was the heaviest one there and the teacher said that if the calss can raise the ladder and hold me they would pass!!!! (Sure, always pick on the FAT guys!!) Needless to say my knees were shaking climbing that ladder!!!

Thanks brother. My pregnant sister-in-law has already started me on the "Points" System. Her sister has the books and everything so they just figured out my points values for the day and told me what to eat and not. I started it a week ago...as I speak Im eating my "3" Point cardboard ravioli (hoerdeurve if you ask me!!) Seriously though, it doesnt taste that bad and Im sticking to it so far...( fingers crossing) Thanks Guys Moose

I saw it on the news this morning, its sad to hear so many have perished, but the child seen in the pic was caught by an off duty police officer according to the news. This is why Codes are so strictly enforced here in the states, Im not sure about in Germany or anywhere else. But we still have problems with people not wanting the fire inspections performed, or failing to get the necessary permits and inspections because they feel they are not needed. Wooden Staircase??? For EGRESS purposes? Everyone should embrace codes and inspections to prevent this from ever happening. (Not just because its my job!! ) Moose

TRUST ME, my finger was poised over the "Delete" button for a good 2 minutes!!!!! I agree with Baboosky, Will Ferrell was FUNNY in that "Suck One" Commercial. I also liked the mouse/Dorito one, that was funny too, but I voted for Will Ferrell on this one, made me pee my pants. "Cuteness".......(shaking my head and sighing)....whats the world coming to!!!!!

Too many Bowel movements going on here!! Im not sure if I should bring this up here or make a different thread, but Ill start it here. I heard this AM that Pretty Boy Brady and Randy Moss Have abandoned the Pro-Bowl???!!!! Are they THAT immature? As if leaving the field before the game was over and not congratulating the Giants and shake their hands was bad enough, now this display of unsportsmanlike disrespect of their brothers in the pro-bowl by stepping down. I heard Brady is saying his ankle bothers him now and he cant play....???...He seemed fine in the superbowl, and even said he was 100% again before the game, and when he left the game early he wasnt limping. Just angers me to see such gross displays of immaturity and disrespect to their fellow sportsmen. How does everyone else feel about this recent news? By the way....GIANTS ARE # 1!!!!!! Respectfully Moose

Excellent. Thanks for the advice brothers. ATCFF, are you a trainer or something on the side? Or just like to work out? I do have questions about workout programs for full body conditioning but I will PM you later. I find that the microwave meals are good....if your in the station to cook and eat them. But lately our buts have been handed to us each shift. Keeping sandwiches on board sounds like a good idea, I will just bring a lunch cooler with sandwiches and bananas and grapes and stuff. I was mostly concerned with my increased obesity due to increased amounts of stress lately, and how I can fit a workout routine into an already busy schedule. Thanks for the replies guys. Stay Safe Moose

22 Truck, I have dealt with Road Rescue and Lifeline rigs, both decent. Our Road Rescue we had in my old dept when I was Captain had lasted them a good 20 years, and we sold it to a volunteer agency out of Ohio who used it for another 8 years. They are good solid rigs. Sorry about not getting back to your question about the chasis from the other thread. Im not much for mechanics but I believe, and dont "quote" me (LOL), its a Ford F-550 deisel. I could very well be wrong, I just take care of patients and fight fires, I dont get too involved with the mechanical part of it, sorry bro! Good Luck on your future purchase.

Congratulations Brother!! My very best to you and your future wife, may you have decades of happiness and good fortune. Just remember to always take the garbage out dude!! "Yes Dear" was also great advice, remember that. Another great bit of advice was the "Better to be happy than RIGHT", brother, Im telling ya now to save you grief, SHE is ALWAYS right!!!!! Seriously, best of luck to you guys, and may your wedding day be memorable! Moose

Sorry, I just have to rant a little here. Everywhere you look you see superbowl talk and what not, obviously with only less than a week away. But lately when people talk about the Giants its always "Eli Manning"!!! Being we are all in a brotherhood and we all promote teamwork, and there is no "I" in t-e-a-m, does it bug any of you like it bugs me? "Well Eli Manning is heading to the super bowl..." or " Its always been a Manning in the superbowl and now Eli is next" What about the team that got him there? The offensive line that protected him? The receivers that scrambled to catch his wild passes? The running backs that got him closer to the endzone for him to throw a quick td pass? The media is making it a one man operation. Before you all go nuts, I am a Giants Fan and am extremely extatic that the GIANTS made the superbowl, but I would like to see credit where credit is due. End of Rant. Ahhhhhhh....feel a little better, untill I see another tv or newspaper ad for "Eli Manning"!! Thanks for listening. Enjoy the game, have fun, stay safe. Moose GO GIANTS!!!

Great points. Also, remember to transport pt on their unaffected side, so they can maintain their airway on their own. Laying them on their backs could make their saliva pool in the paralysed side and therefore make them drown. Position them on the unaffected side, secure the bad arm with the strap, and make sure you have suction ready. Make sure you position their faces aimed at your partner so if they vomit they get covered and not you!! (Kidding)

Excellent! I already started to advertise for us Eli! I have been spreading EMTBravo around here ever since I first joined but a lot of my friends were unsure at first because they didnt know anything about the Westchester area, so now I will get them to join. Looking forward to it!! Moose

Yah, but without people like me asking the questions, none of the members who are scared to ask will ever learn. Right? I was trying to spark further discusion brother, thanks for the link though!

Great post Jack. I am an "Old School" EMT that used to be a EMT-CC about 9 years ago. Recently I was at work in my PT job and we had a call for possible stroke. My medic partner, just recently certified 8 months ago, starts talking about a scale for stroke PT's, I believe he called it the "Cincinati Scale". Does anyone else know of this? Its new to me. I was trained to check for hemiparesis by asking the pt to squeeze my hands, and apply pressure with the feet, than check for facial droop. It has changed a lot since I was first certified and I would like to stay current. This brings up a great topic, and Im glad you discussed it. Thanks Jack!! Moose

I agree ff402. Seth shouldnt have to carry this site out of pocket, and get all the negative remarks from the freeloaders who could care less. There are those of us who do care Seth, and we are always going to help when needed. Just a thought Seth; over 7,000 registered members, have a registration fee every 3 years, say $2, thats more than enough to run the site, and even some to donate to burn units or charities in EMTBravos name, that way it kind of keeps in the values of EMTBravo, keeping brotherhood alive and helping others in need. Just a thought to help with the site, I would gladly pay it as I do other sites I belong to.

Thats my question as well, does NFPA 1901 require all existing apparatus to be retrofitted? We just got a new rig in 2005 and it doesnt have the netting, and was wondering if we had to get it and our other engines retrofitted now? We had it happen to us too, enroute to a structure fire in our neighboring town, we lost 1000' of 3" hose and didnt even realise it untill we got to the scene and found a length dangling of the back and half the bed empty! When we got back to station that night, after vigorously searching for the lost hose, we found that an elderly gentleman had picked up ALL the hose in his little pickup and brought it back to the station for us! Needless to say, at that years annual banquet, we have gag gifts for some members that deserve it. The driver of the truck that day, got a package of load tie-downs!!!

I guess those chevrons realy are effective. At first I thought they were ugly and didnt see where they would make much difference, but they are realy visible and they dont make people go into epileptic fits like some of the strobe packages today do....and Im talking about personal vehicles!!

I did brother, thanks for the laugh!! I almost got concerned at the start of the whole thing, you talking about rectal thermometers, closing the drapes and getting into comfortable clothes....thought I was reading a spam notice!!!!!! Great laugh, thanks bro. Moose
