It is legit. NYS is finally allowing individuals access to their OFPC training records.

Three engines and 1 Truck are career staffed. Minimum manning is 10 personnel (3Engx2 ,1Trkx2 & 1CARx2). Full manning is usually 12 to 13. During full manning a Rescue (really a pickup) is staffed. 2nd due career engine oper assists in securing water then joins regular ops (they do not hang out). 3rd due career eng begins to move Code 1 on 1st alarm and then upgrades or cancels enroute depending on radio traffic. Volunteers operate 1 eng and various mini types. They are never relied upon for a true response, but are helpful when available. Information on 2nd alarms and greater are acurate enough as posted earlier.

Three 10hr days then off for three. Three 14hr nights then off for three. Kelly days are also used.

From the fire side of things at New Paltz... They do not have any EZPass devices and have been unsuccessful in obtaining them due to the same reasons that Bnechis has explained. Upon entry to T-Way, the apparatus will select a manned lane, slow down, turn off siren and then proceed with normal code-3 response. When exiting the T-Way, the apparatus will select a manned lane, stop at toll booth and sign a ticket that was generated when entering.

We have been under fuel restriction for a couple months now. It has done the following: Enhanced interpersonal communication within the shift (ie PLANNING AHEAD). Healthier meals (Most take-out is the worst stuff you can eat).

I have the opportunity to work with both types (TDA & TL) on a regular basis and agree with the points made so far. The only point that I would like to add is that a TDA needs 2 people to get it down the road. For the career side, this can be a pro or a con depending on what side of the coin you are on. For volunteers, some places have a hard enough time getting drivers to show up that it might never make it out the doors.

Things looked to be getting a little better (winds were down and also shifted away from most structures) as of 2100 hrs. Many companies were being released for the night and a large line burn was done by NYS Rangers. Hopefully the weather will cooperate tomorrow and make things a little easier.

Give a call to OFPC. They are usually very helpful in determining equivalencies with their own standards.

I've worked with a PowerHawk system for several years now. While it does not have the power or operating speed of the traditional rescue tool, it has proven useful on several runs because of its portability. I would not recommend one for first line equipment, but if your budget allows, it does make a nice backup.
