They should do a little more commercial truck enforcement on the Hutch, I always see at least one commercial vehicle on the Hutch when I'm on it and there not suppose to be on it.

Thanks Dino, I was confused when I saw that because I wasn't aware you guys had one down at the firehouse.

I noticed on this list that Harrison has a Marine Unit, #35, a 12' Zodiac, do they still have this and if so where do they keep it because I have never before seen or heard of it.

this might sound dumb, but is there really an engine 99, engine 81 and ladder 46 or were these just made up for the show.

I can't believe that he was released on just $250 bond, that seems alittle low. I feel it should be much higher for impersonating a police officer.

Get well soon. I hope the drunk driver gets what she deserves.

I was wondering if anyone knows why someone subway cars are wider than others. I know that this might sound stupid but I have noticed that the N-R-Q line has a much wide car (looks like a Metro-North train car) than the 4-5-6 line, just as an example. I ride the 4-5-6 line and it gets very crowded, so why not use a wide car to make more room. I know that some people will say that it has a more narrow tunnel to travel through but i thought that alot of the tunnels were dug out around the same time. Im just curious if anyone knows the answer to this, and sorry if it sounds stupid.

I think it would be sweet to wear shorts in the summer. You can still look professional in shorts. I think that even if a department doesnt want you to wear shorts, they should make an exception and let you wear them in exterme heat. Or they could allow you to wear the bike pants where you can unzip the bottoms and make them into shorts. If you get a call you could just zip them back on in a few seconds and be back in pants.

I wonder how low the crime rate is in his county, the conditions in his jail must deter alot of crime.

Hey, now I know that this topic has been discussed before but I am having trouble finding them. So does anyone know where to find websites online where you can get CME's from. I know about JEMS but I can't seem to find anything else for EMT-B CME's that are approved for NYS and also WREMSCO. It doesnt matter if there free sites or pay sites. If anyone knows anything it would be help alot. Thanks in advance for your help.

I agree, if someone wants it bad enough they will find a way to get it. There are so many places that you can go to get lights and sirens, and adding paperwork would not fix the problem. You can walk into an automotive parts store and you can buy strobes and dash lights.

by any chance were the photo's posted, sorry for nagging but i just wanna make sure im not going blind and has passed them, lol.

I was messaged and told that emcert.com had online CME's. you have to pay for them but its a good site with good topics, i just thought I'd let you guys know this incase anyone else is also looking for online CME's.

I feel this is a great topic. I have heard stories and seen events where air transport has been called when the patient could have easily been transport by ground ambulance. I mean sometimes you could have been enroute almost to the hospital by the time the air transport reaches the scence, so to stay on scene longer and then throw in a big bill I think is a little much. Now I am not saying that when you get on a scene that might merit the use of air transport that the first thing running through your head should be the bill is not the case.

my father was a police officer for 30 years and he had the same rule. If he wasn't carrying his gun, then he left his shield at home and he would bury is ID behind his drivers license. he always said god forbid something bad happened and he had to empty his pockets and a bad guy saw his shield they would expect him to also have a gun.
-
how could anyone do something like that, you have to be an a**hole to do that. i hope they find who ever did that.
-
that seems a little dumb. where the heck do you keep the equipment and how on earth do you do any work on the patient? it would make a better fly car than an ambulance.

God Bless and may he rest in peace, my thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and his fellow firefighters.

that was a nice house. i don't know why anyone would want to demolish it, but i guess it must be nice to have money to do that. but i guess in the end it worked out good because the surrounding fire depts got a great drill outta it.
-
I will agree with that. I also worked in a gas station for about 5 yrs, and I saw some drivers do things that just scared me and made me wonder how half of the drivers out there even got a license. Some drivers are just plain old dumb.

Good luck Croton, hope it all goes well!

I hope that they do this for Westchester residents, it would be real nice. On a side note, Metro North gives Police and Fire free rides, but does not to EMS. Over the summer I had to commute to the city and i had was running late one morning and didnt have time to buy a ticket on the platform so i figured i would buy it on the train. When the conductor got to me i took out my wallet and went to give him money and he looked down and noticed the flap that was covering my shield and he asked if i had a badge under it and if so could he see it, i showed him my shield and he said to put my money away, that police and fire ride for free, and i informed him that i was an EMT not a cop or firefighter, and he then turned around and said, in that case you will have to pay. I have to say, at that point I was very embarassed because the people sitting around me had seen what had happened. He made it seem as if EMS didn't mean much. I wasn't looking for a free ride but when he offered me one I wasn't gonna refuse (who would) and when he then made me pay because I was an EMT it made me feel as if EMS wasn't as important.
