How old is the current one, about 20 years old?
-
It's about time, NY and NJ were about the only two states left that didn't have a blue/red or blue combo for LE lightbars.
-
That's not 'just' an EMS call, its an assault, PD is mandated to come.

I don't know if they are getting more than one new bus, but I know they sure do need a new fleet, most of the buses are quite a few years old now. As for units running, there are 4 BLS and 1 ALS (15A, 15C, 15E and 27A for BLS and 15V for the ALS).

I know of no one that would issue a UTT for it though....

Sounds correct, the problem with having so many paramedics in a system (like NYC) is that there is a VAST difference in the abilities and skills from one paramedic to another for two reasons; 1.)there is little in the way of actual medical control. A paramedic in NYC can go their entire career without ever actually meeting the medical control doctor on the other side of the phone and 2.)with so many paramedics and relatively few true ALS emergencies in the response area (only about 25 percent of so called ALS calls are that in most of NYC), the amount of time one can go without a 'hot' call can be substantial. I know that I have gone for more than2 months without a cardiac arrest job more than once in my career.

I'm actually speechless that someone stated that they didn't care if the person calling (usually the PATIENT) is embarassed. If that's your feeling, then its time for you to stay away from the ambulance, I think you forgot why we are doing what we are doing...
-
I really don't understand why this is causing so much trouble. Here is the VERY simple way to both get to the call and please the caller at the same time, 'TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND SIRENS 2 BLOCKS AWAY'. Your response time will not suffer and neither will the patient's pride. What the heck are you all refering to SOPs for? This is common sense.

It's both EMS Week and Police Memorial Week.

Godspeed and RIP Lieutenant.

Virtually all the broadcast channels and most of the newschannels broadcast a continuous crawl when there is an AMBER Alert, along with most if not all radio stations in the region concerned, along with the Highway Advisory signs and most cellular carriers, at least those that offer AMBER Alerts with their plans.

A federal vehicle has absolutely no authority over any, ANY vehicle. A mail truck is NOT an emergency vehicle and as such has no way of usurping the emergent right of way. As for who would go next? I'm a big fan of the size rule. If you have the ability to run me over, you get to go next.
-
Most do, as any AMBER Alert would come through NYSPIN as an urgent message.
-
When you call DMV, the calls are answered by prisoners, a little known fact.

That's a mockup of an RMP on a Charger R/T model, the police model will not have the sunroof and will not have the alloy wheels, it will have 18 inch black rims.

Italy's Polizia di Stato Lamborghini Gallardo, but I don't know how many there are, but I would guess at least 2.

That one ambulance is 'donated' to MV out of the kindness of Empress' heart, if I remember correctly Mt. Vernon hasn't had a formal contract with Empress for years.
-
Godspeed.

The prosecutor is in court and getting paid one way or the other, whether he is working V&T that day or a Penal Law violation. As for the reduction in the summons, some places have a prosecutor that offers the reduced deal via mail before the trial date. Some places wait until immediately before trial, where the officer after looking at your driving history will offer you aa reduced charge. It is up to the judge to decide if he is willing to accept the reduced charge.
-
Simple, if you decide to not take the plea, they will schedule the actual trial where the trooper will appear.
-
About time, those buses are ancient.

Not much can be done to get rid of one or the other, there are not enough OLM EMS people to run Monte and Einstein's operations, and since the Monte/Einstein operation is non-union and the OLM operation is union, Monte can't simply take over OLM... To tell you the truth, I think that EMS is pretty low on the priority list for Spencer Foreman.
-
Carrying a EMT off duty is not a big deal, whether he had it in the federal courthouse or not. The issue is that we are obviously missing part of the story here. Being charged with Forgery 2 and CPFI(both felonies, IIRC) isn't something a cop, any cop will lightly charge an EMS provider with. I await the entire story before passing judgement.

There are marked CTSP cars, they tend to exist closer to Hartford.

If you call from a cell phone, its picked up the state troopers, then transferred to where they think the guy is calling from, which usually is right, but from time to time is wrong.
