It's getting the kids under control that will quell 90 percent of the violent crime, I would venture to guess that in any one city/area/precinct that 50 percent of all crime is committed by less than 20 different people. Oh, and Mt. Vernon is going to have to pay more AND get better equipment in order to attract people, 36K starting salary just doesn't cut it anymore.

Is Warnock Ford/Chevrolet the supplier?

NYS DOH regulations state that the EMS provider's name must be the most prominently displayed text on the ambulance.

Exactly what I would have done in this situation.

Nassau and I believe Suffolk County have had this rule in effect for years.

MV A-1 has had a 'new' type 2 for a few months now.

That is the Motorola/PIPS version of the ALPR. It's more popular out west.

Very close, but not quite. There is a daily updated file containing the stolen vehicles, suspended registrations and wanted parties that is downloaded through NYSPIN every morning, but the Mobile Plate Hunter 900 does NOT have the ability to directly check plates through NYSPIN, the file is stored locally. FYI, the system does not contain any file information on valid plates, however if you put a plate of interest in the system, it can find it while driving around and can tell you if it has read that plate in the last 30 days and if it has can tell you exactly where and when it did.

I saw a HUGE International chassis ambulance driving northbound on the Hutch this afternoon covered in that a HUGE Westchester Medical Center symbol, does anyone have a pic or any more information on this monster?

Most of the day to day functions of a police department do not need the services of a police officer. If you can use another underutilized public safety worker to perform a civilian task, then I am all for it. Heck, it will keep the tax rate down.

Transcare/Metrocare had them, hmm, like 10 years ago, I don't think they buy then anymore though.

That interior pic is of a Chevy/GMC and not a Ford, correct?

I really don't understand that retarded concept. We don't get shot with a gun before we carry it, so why would you have to be tazed or sprayed before being able to carry the Tazer or OC?

I am impressed at just how high the Bronx River and the Hutch reached.

There are blue, yellow and red alerts, each calling for an additional county zone to be called. Playland was a yellow, I believe, not a red.

The funeral is at 1000 on 4/11/07 at 21 W. Broad Street in Mount Vernon.

I know that dialing 911 on a cell phone within any of the south county cities brings a crap shoot with whether or not the state police (Westchester) or NYC 911 will answer. 911 calls from either location can not be directly transferred and you will instead get calls from the SP dispatcher over a regular line or will get a call from the NYC 911 supervisor, again over landline. Sometimes neither party knows exactly where the person is either and is just guessing. 911 is NOT perfect, far from it. ANI/ALI information usually doesn't come up for cell phones either when they do hit the right PSAP, leaving you with a 'NO ANI AVAILABLE' message. I would think that more than 50 percent of calls are over cell phones now so this isn't perfect.

I regret to inform everyone that Stu passed away today.

The list is replaced every year however, so 100 will usually not be reached.

Top 50 is much more realisitic. They generally put about 10 people in the fall academy and about 6 or 8 in the winter academy. Ya got to figure that one in every 3 get picked since the others have misdemeanors, credit problems or failed psychs.

Navistar makes all the PowerStroke engines. They had a HUGE problem with all the recalls involving the 6.0L PSD and Ford sued Navistar to get back some of the costs. Navistar refused and to get the money back Ford ordered the engines and didn't pay for them. Navistar, after a while decided to stop supplying Ford with the engines. Navistar states that they have the engines in their factory, Ford only needs to pay for them to get them. IF this all works out soon the E series will have the 6.0L shortly, with the 6.4L going to the F-series.

I gotta say that whoever hit the Route 9/9A southbound roadway did a GREAT job on the roadway, it was very easily drivable during the afternoon rush. The Sprain southbound was also in great shape. However 287 westbound from the TZ was just a pathetic mess.
