  1. We're 'bashing' private companies, but the country's biggest public on also is the same exact way. FDNY EMS is stuck inside the bus with inadequate facilites to rest between jobs. On the flip side, your at a JOB, and as such do not have any rights to get any sort of 'rest'. What it the point of mandating rest periods at a job that is usually only 8 hours long? Should the other 2 tours be given the same benefit?
  2. Sometimes people post comments just to post them, thise seems like one of them. As for a new mayore making a difference, hopefully it happens. FDMV has atrocious funding and equipment, facilities and staffing. I hate to say it, but if there union was more vocal to the community and to the press about the conditions maybe something would change, but the union, just like other people in the city, were afraid of 'King Ernie' swinging his magic stick. Thankfully for FDMV he is now a lame duck.
  3. License plates aren't private and are easily viewable on the street by anyone, I really don't see the point of blurring them out, but it seems to be the fashion these days.
  4. In my experienceit will sometimes work with license plate covers, but more often than not it will not work.
  5. Ours will not work through glass, but do work well in the rain.
  6. We don't perform invasive medical procedures just so that we can say to a family that he received the highes level of care. We do it because the patient needs it. If this was a healthy 20 year old with no previous medical history, no medications, with generalized shortness of breath and no other presenting problems, I would send im off BLS.
  7. Inadequately trained EMTs. The guy has a legitimate reason for being tachycardic and short of breath, but at the end of the day we all have to make spur of the moment decisions that may come back to kick us in the butt.
  8. Ballistics and DNA testing are now standard practice on all firearms cases in Westchester.
  9. You're getting bent out of shape over someone calling an area with tiny homes and tiny streets Tiny Town? Jeez...
  10. Godspeed.
  11. Uh, they're still testing them....
  12. No one is saying that any cop would ever write a blue light ticket.....
  13. I think it would be a great idea if all emergency vehicles had red and blur front and back, but just like everything else in NY, we are afraid of any change.
  14. IF they are OEM and you can prove it, then you are good to go. If you are refering to the aftermarket 'blue HIDs' that some people have, that is written under the 'dazlling headlights' section, no this one.
  15. Don't blame the police for enforcing a law that is on the books, blame the NYS Legislature for coming up with a law that is too specifically written. As per NYS law the only vehicles that are authorized to have a rear facing blue light is a police vehicle, nothing else.
  16. Operating a motor vehicle with unauthorized colored lights (blue) is a violation of VTL 375.41(4B), which is indeed in the equipment section, but there are other violations in 375 that are point inducing, such as failure to dim high beams or illegal tints.
  17. Technically it's a moving violation, not a equipment violation, it would be two points.
  18. I have no doubt in my mind that 1.)the survivors didn't tell the police that there were other people in the vehicle and that 2.)the police assumed that they were the only occupants and didn't ask the survivors.
  19. If a person states that they don't want to go to the hospital or get checked out, then one should respect their wishes.
  20. I would never, ever write it, heck I've been seeing blue on the fronts of some police cars that were all red and white before, blue and red will be the standard in NY in a few years.
  21. It's been in the protocols for like 2 years.
  22. This is a non-issue. We have '10-13' parties for people that are held at The Thirsty Turtle all the time that go off without a hitch. A CA at a bar is no different. I think that you think that the people that will be going won't be able to handle themselves and will then drink and drive. I have a little more faith in people, we're all pretty responsible adults.
  23. Can he? No, but I think that EMS handled a very difficult situation as well as they could. There was no ill-will involved in this entire incident from either PD or EMS's part.
