  1. RESCUE 6 was placed into service on August 3 and disbanded today, November 3. It was a "temporary" Rescue Company due to GOP Convention and Presidential Election staffed using Federal Grant money.
  2. I obtained the "proper cleaning and disinfecting instructions" for Scott SCBA. They have a cleaning product out specifically for Scott SCBA. It's called Multi-Wash. It can be used on the masks, adapters, and regulators. As per Scott this is the ONLY product that should be used as other agents may be harmful to the equipment, some might even void the warranty. #-o This product is available at AAA Emergency Supply in White Plains. Gallon costs $42.00... to be used in a spray bottle form. The Handy-Wipes are also available box of 100 for $45.00 however Scott recommends a full cleaning after EVERY USE with Multi-Wash. (Handy-Wipes are not a product of Scott) Just thought I might pass this helpful information along!

  10. Here are some helpful instructions from the Cairns/MSA website on how to repaint your Leather New Yorker. Cairns Helmets Repaint Guide The following procedures are suggested for those wishing to repaint a structurally sound N6A Houston or a N5A New Yorker leather helmet. If there are any questions concerning the serviceability of the helmet, please contact MSA Fire Service Customer Service at: 1-877-MSA-FIRE or info@MSAFire.com. STEP 1: Before proceeding, inspect the helmet for damage. If there is any sign of burnt or broken stitching, soft or cut leather, cracked leather, etc., the helmet should be repaired before proceeding. STEP 2: Remove front piece. STEP 3: Clean off the helmet with soap and water to remove as much surface dirt as possible. Use the minimum amount of water possible. STEP 4: Roughen the entire surface of the helmet with fine sandpaper, taking care to avoid excess sanding of the stitching. STEP 5: Apply one coat of the recommended primer. Allow to dry completely. 12. Rumors have been going around about building a Main Station for the Peekskill Fire Department but by the time that happens I think I'll be in Hudson, NY. The "City" is looking into the cost to repair our current fire stations vs. building one central fire house. I will keep you posted.
  13. If it's 1 floor why would you need a pole? I know a few places that have sliding poles but they are not firehouse's. haha
  14. Those of you not familiar the NYS V&T Law Section 375 "Blue Lights" it was revised in 2001. 24. THANKS to everyone who came out to support Peekskill FD! The fundraiser was a success. Hopefully when we do it again in a couple months we'll have an even larger turnout.
  25. ALS, I know exactly what goes on and I appreciate your doubt in what I know and or concern. Yes, at times PPD does not transfer the calls, Not saying it's right. It's not! The point I was trying to make regarding this thread was Peekskill for the most part has a good 911 system between Police taking the call and 60-Control dispatching Fire-EMS. Everyone has problems that need to be worked out. Some are better than others. I was once at the other end of the phone, the 911 caller. Cardiac Arrest at my house. The system worked great! Police, Fire, and EMS. Don't be so quick to bash a system which YOU are a part of. If you have an issue and it sounds like a good one do something about it. We are all good a bitching! A Concerned FF makes a great point in some Westchester areas you get nothing. No EMD... Is that right?
