Having a scanner with a PL/DPL is the way to go. I've been hearing loud and clear some NJ FD on our PFD Dispatch 453.225. The PL/DPL cuts it out. It's annoying!

On 12-6-04 at our Multiple Alarm Fire the members of Peekskill VAC and Cortlandt VAC not only stood by the fire scene with EMS crews but provided ALL the Firefighters with Water, Coffee, (Milk & Sugar) and Oreos. Ahhhh as WAS967 said "Gotta love them Oreos" Obviously this money was dished out by EMS and I gotta say it was a great thing and very much appreciated by all of the Firefighters. I don't know of many VAC's that will provide refreshments for Firefighters at Stand-By's. Actually it's not part of EMS's job but they went the extra mile. Again, PEEKSKILL VAC THANK YOU! How many Westchester VAC's do something like this?

Good topic! Relocations / Stand-By's are NOT Emergencies! You should respond NO LIGHTS / NO SIREN! "Normal Driving Mode" This is for FIRE and EMS Emergency Vehicles. NOTE: Lights and Siren CAN be used for Santa Claus! LOL =D>

APPARATUS AND EQUIPMENT CAN BE REPLACED! WE CAN NOT.... I WISH MORE DEPARTMENTS WOULD SEE THIS.

PEEKSKILL FD has a FAST Specific Firefighters that have Specialized Training. If we have a FAST call ONLY the FAST members respond. E134 is designated as the FAST Engine, If E134 is OOS then E130 is back up. Crew assembles then responds on the apparatus. OK, "ALS" you can jump in right here.................. lol =D>

First, I want to say I have a lot of love and respect for the FDNY not only after 9/11 but long before that having several friends on the job as Firefighters, Lieutenants, and a Batt. Chiefs. The FDNY does an outstanding job of firefighting and rescues hands down, No other department like them in the world! BUT..... You gotta wonder is Scoppetta really looking to screw them or do the right thing? The department which as we all know has had some really bad press. Assaults, Arrests, Sex, Drugs, Drinking, several off duty DWI's. This is NOT the FDNY I once knew. It's sad... No laughing matter. I stand behind Mayor Bloomberg and Fire Commish. Scoppetta. CLEAN UP THE DEPARTMENT!!! But don't make it a political thing. I understand where "The Union" is coming from but as mentioned above "step back and take a look in the mirror." God Bless the members of the FDNY.

Peekskill Professional Firefighter and Paramedic Kevin McGovern explains the "Vial of Life" to Catherine Tarchine of Peekskill at Centennial Hose Company No.4 in Peekskill Dec. 8, 2004. The Firefighters Local 2343 are distributing the plastic vials that contain a resident's vital medical information, which helps emergency crews determine proper care of a patient on a scene. Crews are alerted to the vials, which are kept in the refrigerator by a magnet placed on the door. See photo: http://www.thejournalnews.com/dailygallery/index.htm Peekskill FD is a Combo Department, The Professional Firefighters not only serve as Firefighters in the City of Peekskill but 9 out of the 25 staff (2) Advanced Life Support Fly Cars 39M1 and 39M2. They are part of the Cortlandt Regional Paramedic program which covers the City of Peekskill and the Town of Cortlandt. They are the ONLY Fire Department in Westchester County that provides ALS. In addition they have (9) EMT's that provide a BLS Engine to the City of Peekskill. GOOD JOB Peekskill Professional Firefighters L2343!!! =D>
