  4. LIVE WIRES DOWN Recently, I heard a Fire Department being dispatched for Wires Down. The FD remained on scene for some time making numerous requests to the Dispatcher for an ETA on the power company. I could hear the urgency and frustration in the Chief's voice when he radioed in "Live Wires Down" and was told repeatedly by Dispatch "They are enroute no ETA available" Shortly after the Chief got on the air and stated "All FD units clearing the scene, cones have been set up" What kind of LIABILITY is on the Fire Department, City, Town, or Village now that the Fire Department has left a Hazardous Scene unattended? (John Doe comes walking along with his dog and gets cooked) Any thoughts?

  7. I've spoke to some senior firefighters both career and volunteer who were against hoods when they first came out because as stated "you knew the fire was too hot when your ears would burn and you backed out" I think they have a point however I am all for SAFETY! Let's be honest here all the boring OSHA videos many of us dread or fall asleep thru guess what? IT'S ALL ABOUT SAFETY!!! Maybe we should wake up and watch them. As mentioned above the Firefighter who fell down into the foam blanket survived because of FULL PPE. The stories go on and on and on..... Remember the Firefighter climbing up the Ladder carrying the Axe? Helmet and Bunker Pants only. He cut corners. What happened to him? BURNED VERY BAD! Anyone on EMTBravo been burned before? Maybe they can describe how much fun it was. NOT! "Tradition, Unhampered by Progress."
  8. As I sit here on this Saturday afternoon I am glad to have EMTBravo. Not because I am a "BUFF" LOL Rather it's a great resource of News and Information. I make a bunch of posts on here but I think this one is for EMTBravo himself. Seth, THANK YOU for EMTBravo and all the work you put into this site. I really appreciate it. I hope some other members will jump in and say a few kind words. Rob
  9. Remember585, Judges didn't see the Lights or hear the Siren but they did notice the DIRTY HOSE! Glad everyone is OK.

  12. Chris192, Next time you buzz over Post 29 wave at me. I was walking my dog the other day and I saw a Chopper do a few circles overhead. I assume it was WCPD. BE SAFE! Awesome Bird!
  13. When people have nothing better to do they find something to complain about. Enough said about that.... This message board is a very useful tool for ALL Firefighters, EMT's, Paramedics, and Police Officers for the ability to SHARE information. Keeping a "Top Secret" is nothing more than someone on a power trip when it pertains to a NEW apparatus. Why hide it? BE PROUD OF IT! I'd like to take a moment to wish the Members and Officers of Valley Cottage FD all the best with the new Ladder. P.S. Trauma74, You forgot the new colors!
  14. NR, Bunkers? C'Mon.... Johnny Gauge & Roy didn't need Bunkers. They put out the Fire in Work Pants and Shoes with Turnout Coat, Helmet, and SCBA. Bunkers only at night! Anyone ever catch that? haha EMERGENCY! "Station 51 responding, KMG365"
  15. HDQTRSWP, You do have a point! I have been out and about in public and you never know who is who. I have heard EMT's discuss a call with patient information. Police Officer's brag how they "tuned up" someone. Firefighter's tell bystanders it's Arson and C&O is still on the scene. Sometimes we have to keep our mouth shut for our own good! I don't feel giving away Police, Fire, or EMS Frequencies is an issue at all since you can find them on numerous websites including the FCC. It's all public Information. After the events of 9/11 should that be changed? Maybe I post the Frequencies in the Frequency Section for the benefit of our members. Unless someone has the Transmit Frequency and PL/DPL Tones not much can be done. I have seen a few BUFF sites that post TX, RX, and PL/DPL now that is without a doubt NOT GOOD! Yeah, maybe they will hear a buddy's plate being ran, drug bust, or on NYSP Car to Car "Left Lane 85 MPH Red Chevy" .... WHOOPS! Sometimes sensitive material does come over Police, Fire, and EMS Frequencies but that has been going on for many many years. Police go digital then 6 months later digital scanners come out. With that being said.... This has been discussed before but as a reminder to EVERYONE.......
  16. Chris Rock "Police Training Video" LOL!!! This is hysterical!! (Caution on the language) VERY FUNNY!
  17. I went to visit E73/L42 on Prospect Ave in the Bronx back in the early 90's. "La Casa Caca" At the time E73 was a Mack CF and YELLOW!

  20. I have to say I LOVE the new and improved EMTBRAVO.COM If you take a moment to think back where this site was 1, 2, or 3 years ago it's very clear of the steps taken to improve the site by YOU! I'd love to see someone take the challenge of running a site trying to please almost 5,000 members or are we past that yet? YOU DO AN AWESOME JOB!!! I respect everyone's opinions on here as I know you do also but with all the time and work you put into this site for no one but US you deserve a compliment NOT negative comments. "I don't like this, I don't like that" With all due respect if you don't like it... Click the "X" at the top of the website. Enough is enough! THE NEW EMTBRAVO.COM SHOULD ABSOLUTELY STAY! Oh...by the way.... How many people made a DONATION to help cover the costs of EMTBRAVO we all love (or bitch about) so much?
  21. X635, You should check out the Hyde Park Brewery! It's close to where the Drive-In is on Route 9 in Hyde Park. I was there for my BDAY back in April. If you don't go for the Good Food, Good Beer, then go just to see the Bartender..... Ashley! OH MY!!! Dutchess guys know what I mean? HAHA
