PROGRESS on the Catering Facilities. I have a couple more to meet with. One MAJOR issue has some up and that is LIABILITY of EMTBravo if we should host an event. Does anyone know an Insurance guy or gal who could write up a policy for the event and the costs involved???? This has pretty much HALTED all efforts until we can clear this up. LIABILITY on EMTBravo, Seth and I is a BIG concern. Chances are nothing would go wrong but what if? HMMMM Other option.... If all else fails..... I pick a date, place, and time for all of us to meet "as pals" and have a beer and some food. (Unofficial EMTBravo get together) I am sure you guys understand.

CT an EMT at 16 years old? Cool... I didn't know that. Hey, If you can do the job at 16 years old hats off to you!!! As far as a legal issue of being under 18 good point. My next question would be..... Why would the State of CT allow this if it's an issue?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! "How old are you now...." ??? LOL!

Do you mean underage members riding the Ambulance such as a Junior Corps Member? I rode as an Attendant/Observer when I was 16. I think it's a great thing to have 16 and 17 y/o in EMS and Fire. It really sparked my interest at a young age. In New York State you can be a Certified First Responder at age 16 and an Emergency Medical Technician at age 18. I was an EMT and listed as the "Crew Chief when I was just 18 years old. It's a lot of responsibility and not for everyone but my 5th call as an EMT happened to be a Cardiac Arrest. NOTE: It was a CPR Save 7 y/o Drowning.

"I" !!!!!!!!! haha Just to update everyone who is interested and I hope you ALL are..... I am meeting with two catering facilities, one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. I am trying my best to make this a fun night. I feel having it at a catering facility would be complete. Members just show up. NO WORRIES! I am open to having it at a Firehouse IF it can accommodate a large crowd but then I would have to worry about who is bringing this and who is bringing that. If one guy forgets something or the other guy bringing the Baked Ziti does not show??? I think a catering facility or a nice restaurant is best for ALL! Again, I will keep you guys posted. Please keep spreading the word to spark some interest. If anyone has a "HOOK" with a Catering Facility in the Westchester County area please feel free to E-MAIL me at: RWC130@aol.com THANKS! Rob

I am actively looking at a few places. I want to pick a location which is in the middle for everyone that way you won't have to travel too far and most important keep the cost as low as possible. It's a challenge but I already have a potential deal in the works. I just hope we get a good turnout. The Holiday Party will be open to EVERYONE on this site. I will keep everyone posted! Photofires.. That is an AWESOME idea! Chris192.. 50/50 Raffle with a ride on Air 2? LOL

HOLIDAY PARTY!!! HELLO TO ALL! For the past two years I have wanted to plan a gathering for EMTBravo members. We thought about a Summer BBQ but that didn't work out. After speaking with Seth we have decided to move forward and plan something. How many of you would be in favor of a Holiday Party? I am looking into a few places to hold this event. If anyone has suggestions or thoughts please e-mail me: RWC130@aol.com I think this could be a fun event for ALL of us. Thanks, Rob

Veterans' Day (formerly Armistice Day) November 11, is the anniversary of the Armistice which was signed in the Forest of Compiegne by the Allies and the Germans in 1918, ending World War I, after four years of conflict. At 5 A.M. on Monday, November 11, 1918 the Germans signed the Armistice, an order was issued for all firing to cease; so the hostilities of the First World War ended. This day began with the laying down of arms, blowing of whistles, impromptu parades, closing of places of business. All over the globe there were many demonstrations; no doubt the world has never before witnessed such rejoicing. In November of 1919, President Woodrow Wilson issued his Armistice Day proclamation. The last paragraph set the tone for future observances: To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nation. In 1927 Congress issued a resolution requesting President Calvin Coolidge to issue a proclamation calling upon officials to display the Flag of the United States on all government buildings on November 11, and inviting the people to observe the day in schools and churches...But it was not until 1938 that Congress passed a bill that each November 11 "shall be dedicated to the cause of world peace and ...hereafter celebrated and known as Armistice Day." That same year President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill making the day a legal holiday in the District of Columbia. For sixteen years the United States formally observed Armistice Day, with impressive ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where the Chief Executive or his representative placed a wreath. In many other communities, the American Legion was in charge of the observance, which included parades and religious services. At 11 A.M. all traffic stopped, in tribute to the dead, then volleys were fired and taps sounded. After World War II, there were many new veterans who had little or no association with World War I. The word, "armistice," means simply a truce; therefore as years passed, the significance of the name of this holiday changed. Leaders of Veterans' groups decided to try to correct this and make November 11 the time to honor all who had fought in various American wars, not just in World War I. In Emporia, Kansas, on November 11, 1953, instead of an Armistice Day program, there was a Veterans' Day observance. Ed Rees, of Emporia, was so impressed that he introduced a bill into the House to change the name to Veterans' Day. After this passed, Mr. Rees wrote to all state governors and asked for their approval and cooperation in observing the changed holiday. The name was changed to Veterans' Day by Act of Congress on May 24, 1954. In October of that year, President Eisenhower called on all citizens to observe the day by remembering the sacrifices of all those who fought so gallantly, and through rededication to the task of promoting an enduring peace. The President referred to the change of name to Veterans' Day in honor of the servicemen of all America's wars. Remember Veterans Day and... THANK A VETERAN FOR THE FREEDOM YOU HAVE!

LOL!!! Reminds me of my High School days. I went to a Halloween Party dressed as a State Trooper. I had a real uniform shirt, pants, purple tie, and gun belt. As most HS party's do things got a lil crazy and the Police were called. Can you take a guess at what agency responded? State Troopers walked in and did a double take when they saw me. I was pulled aside and some very kind words were said. HAHA I can't say I blame them. I looked too real. Had I not been 16 years old and knew some NYSP members I prob would have been locked up. That story (above) gave me a good laugh.

If YOU are one of the following: A: New York State Paramedic B: New York State Emergency Medical Technician C: New York State Certified First Responder AND YOU have BLS Equipment in your POV I see no problem in responding to a scene to begin BLS patient care. I've done it in the past numerous times. Maybe you live close and the Ambulance is responding with a delay or Mutual Aide is coming in. You can do a little more than "Air and Stare" FOLLOW YOUR SOP'S OR SOG'S ON THIS MATTER! Just my two cents!

Izzy, I see the pics OK. Maybe it's a problem on your end? WOW... I wonder how many beers it took to build that castle at the bottom? haha
