MOUNT VERNON TRUCK 2, I don't know where this thread is heading..... but.... I have seen a Chief go in and sometimes on the line. What happens at a fire where you have minimal manpower? Some departments might have 1 Chief on the scene and some might have a Chief, 1st Asst, 2nd Asst, Etc.... As another member just said he is still a Firefighter, obviously a good one if he is a Fire Chief. Chief needs to do his job, We as Firefighters must do ours. Important question here..... Did the FIRE get put out?

Anyone use this? I remember seeing a Piercing Nozzle used for Car Fires but Structure Fires? Interesting....

I also got that in an e-mail forward. Very moving photo! God bless the Troops.... Past, Present, and Future!

Hensonville Hose Company Hensonville, NY (Greene County) I made a few good friends up in Windham at Hensonville Hose. I love this Fire Engine! Fort Garry Pumper (Canada) The chassis is a Peterbilt and features a 300 HP engine. The apparatus has a 1500 GPM pump, 500 gallon poly tank, Hosebed for 3,000 feet of 4" hose and Insta Chains. Yes, 3,000 feet of 4" hose! Photo Credit and Information: Fort Garry Industries www.fgiltd.com

ScottyK107, It is my understanding that Pelham Fire Department both Volunteer and Career have a very good relationship. With all due respect I would not be so quick to make remarks such as that's what happened in Mt. Vernon. That opens up the door to bashing and we don't want that. I think Chris192 was just asking how the new LT's will work in the chain of command. I am not a Pelham Chief or Firefighter I can't answer. I am a Volunteer in a combo Fire Department. We have our differences from time to time, who doesn't? But... We ALWAYS respect each other. I have Career Firefighters and Volunteers as close friends not only in my Fire Department but others as well. Volunteer or Career the key is BE PROFESSIONAL!

Hudson144, I will have to try that! Does the Chili help? LOL! OK, down to business here.... I think this is one of the most positive threads from a training and experience standpoint I have seen in a while. We need more like this! Seasoned Firefighters, Officers, and Instructors giving input and experiences. Something ALL of us on here can learn from. Smooth Bore Vs. Automatic / Fog / Etc. TRAINING, TRAINING, TRAINING!!! I have used the "Combo Nozzle" and I have had incidents where you have a need for the Straight Stream and a need for a Fog. I think it's very important to know your equipment and various situations where you might need either one. Options are nice! I know of some departments in Westchester where if you mention a Smooth Bore Nozzle they will look at you like huh, what's that? Reason... ALL they were ever trained on was Combo Nozzles again back to TRAINING not good. I would have to say I think Capt Benz said it best worry about "PUTTING THE FIRE OUT FIRST" Why is it better? ALSFirefighter made some great points. Overall I would have to agree with using a Smooth Bore! On the topic of Nozzles... How about what line to pull? 1" 3/4 or 2" 1/2????? How many FF's here have seen a wrong line pulled? Just my two cents. BE SAFE BROTHERS! Everyone Goes Home...

I know at one time SP Somers had a Camaro. Used on I-684 a lot. I have not seen it on the road in a long time. I did see one in July of 2004 on Long Island. (Troop L) I'd love to see the Chargers used by STATE POLICE but my question is this. Are they too much power????? I would hate to see a State Trooper or ANY Police Officer get hurt just to catch a speeder. I think the Charger is a ROCKET for a routine patrol car. I know at one time in NYSP you had to have special training to drive the Camaro. Will this be done for the Chargers too?
