  2. Any actions good or bad by a member of a Police, Fire, or EMS agency will bring attention to that agency when something happens. Firefighter - Rescue a trapped victim GREAT! XXX Firefighter is the BEST! Gets award. Police Officer - Arrest a major criminal XXX Police Officer is the BEST! Gets award. EMT/Paramedic - Save a little boy drowning victim XXX EMT/Paramedic is the BEST! Gets award. This is ALL great that brings Positive Press to that agency and ALL Firefighters, Police Officers, EMT's/Paramedics HOWEVER........ You get ONE bad apple such as above mentioned incident on Long Island you bring a BLACK EYE to all members of Emergency Services. It's happened in Westchester too. Not so long ago a Firefighter was arrested and on News12 he was led out in handcuffs with his FD T-Shirt on. NICE! It's just the same when you are responding to a Fire or EMS call with your Blue or Green Light on and you ride someone's rear or almost run them off the road passing them over a double yellow line. Yes, it happens. Any action taken? USE YOUR HEAD! You represent your agency all the time. YOU are in the Public Eye ALWAYS! The fact that they didn't just bust John Doe makes it a much better story when it's John Doe who is a Firefighter, Police Officer, EMT, Paramedic SAD! HOW MANY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS OR VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORPS DO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK ON NEW APPLICANTS?????

  4. Every Fire Apparatus has a Key (IRONS) haha Seriously, this is a good topic. What do you do at 2 AM and you need lumber? I do know of one Fire Department here in Westchester that does have keys to a local store and it's a very good idea. As for Big stores like Home Depot, Etc... Maybe the local Police can call the alarm company and get a key holder to come open up in an Emergency?
  5. This is a VERY nice piece of Ossining FD history!

  18. I also miss Mike a lot, that is why I started this topic. I know several of his Brother Firefighters, Family, and Friends are members of EMTBravo. Back in the 90's I was an Auxiliary Police Officer here in Peekskill. As an Auxiliary I often did a ride-a-long with Mike. He drove Peekskill PD Car 255 and often smoked a BIG fat cigar. He would joke with me and say "Do you mind if I smoke" I was always say "Yes, I do" he would reply "I am the one with the Gun so too bad" lol Mike had a great sense of humor. We would talk about Law Enforcement and he would tell me about his days with Putnam County Sheriff. Some crazy stories too! I remember the night he was killed I got a call from a friend who at the time worked at 60-Control. He asked me who is a Peekskill Police Officer and a Brewster Firefighter? I knew right away he was talking about Mike because I had a convo with Mike two weeks before about him being a Volunteer Firefighter. Chills ran thru my spine as they do now typing this. Mike was not a good Cop, He was a GREAT Cop! He was not a good Firefighter, He was a GREAT Firefighter. He was a Husband, Father, and a GREAT MAN! I am honored to have known him. RIP - GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER!
  19. This sounds like fun.
  20. I hope they had HDTV and Large Screen TV to go with the $615.00 in Porn. LOL That is crazy and so EMBARRASSING. Now the whole Fire Department will suffer cause of a few @$$holes! This does not just hurt them, It hurts ALL Firefighters!
  21. LOL.... That was a good one!
  22. Sorry but RADIO COMMUNICATIONS is a major concern of mine..... When a COUNTY of Westchester Police, Fire, EMS vehicle operator cannot speak on the radio to another COUNTY of Westchester Police, Fire, EMS vehicle operator as they pass you or you have an EMERGENCY that is NOT a good sign. WAKE UP WESTCHESTER! This is 2007! RIGHT!!!! No disrespect to DES, I know some hands on tired on this but..... It's "being put in place" since when?
  23. Wet Vac can handle that... No problem! lol WOW... That is crazy! VERY DANGEROUS!
