No doubt. I do have to agree with Remember585 about misuse of the chopper at times. It happens and it should not.

Pursuant to VTL § 1104 ©, all authorized emergency vehicles, except police vehicles, must be operating a siren and at least one lighted red light for the exemption of the statute to apply. Vehicle and Traffic Law Sec 1144 Upon the approach of an authorized emergency vehicle ( police, fire, ambulance, etc. ) displaying at least one emergency light and when sounding an audible signal ( siren, air horns ) the driver of every other motor vehicle shall yield the right of way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to and as close as possible to the right hand edge or curb of the roadway, or to either edge of a one way three or more lanes in width, clear of any intersection and shall stop and remain in such position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed. I am not saying you should be transporting anyone lights & siren or just lights, or no lights at all. I honestly don't care. The days of getting a woodie hitting the sirens for me are long gone. I have read thru numerous case law in the State of New York where motorists have WON lawsuits because the Fire Truck or Ambulance was not in "Emergency Operation" with it's Lights and Siren activated. Yes, we all use judgement and don't lay on the Federal Q and Air Horns at 4 in the morning but.... Hit someone or someone hits you and you don't have a siren on OH BOY! You better pray EVERY witness says "I heard the siren" The law is pretty clear "when sounding an audible signal" So... unless you are a police vehicle and you have the Lights on you better be making some noise. Just my TWO cents

66Alpha1, 1, 10, or 100 Volunteers the LEGAL name is: Port Chester Rye Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. If they want to drop the VAC and add EMS that fine but LEGALLY you must obtain a DBA thru the County Clerks Office then amend the NYS DOH license to add EMS. (as seen below) Mamaroneck Village Ambulance Squad, Inc. d.b.a. Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Services Starnet Emergency Services, Inc. d.b.a. Westchester EMS TC Hudson Valley Ambulance Corp. d.b.a. Mid-Hudson Valley Ambulance Service That is the point I am trying to drive home to the VAC's that change the name to EMS. You need to obtain a D.B.A. It cost $35.00 Sorry to be a lil off topic here. I love the shot of Empress Dodge Ram Unit 06. Memories! haha [attachmentid=2734] I remember I was in that thing doing a ride-a-long with Paramedic Supervisor Paul Hansen. Remember him? We were going to a Cardiac Arrest to back up the Mount Vernon crew and as we got on the Highway we hit a bump and lost all the Emergency Lights, Siren, and Two Way Radios. As we got into Mount Vernon we hit another bump and everything came back on. LOL! Anyone remember the other 2 Dodge's 03 and 04. 06 had the Red Whelen Mini Lightbar w/ White Strobe in the middle as seen in the pic. 03 or 04 was the same but had 2 Hot Shot Style Mini Rotators on the back. 1 was Red and 1 was Blue. Back then they were Empress Burgundy over White. Looked Sharp! Late 90's they were painted ALL White. I also remember when Empress had dedicated City of Yonkers Ambulances and Paramedic Fly Cars. They carried a Yonkers PD portable (old Motorola Brick) with the Modat ID. Buses: Ambulance 1 Ambulance 2 Ambulance 3 Fly Cars: Medic 1 - Dodge Ram Unit 03 - I think? Medic 2 - Dodge Ram Unit 04 - I think? Medic Supervisor - Dodge Ram Unit 06 I got to ride Ambulance 3 with Anna Rodriguez ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh How about the EMS Station in the Parking Garage across from Yonkers General? Next time you pass by that old metal garage door remember it. Old EMS Station. One of the Ambulance Crew's use to sleep at Engine 311 at night. Had a small room. Size of a closet. 2 Beds, Couch, PD Phone. I think it was Ambulance 2?

I think that Mahopac ladder was made custom and low so that it would fit in the Firehouse on Route 6.

I feel old now. 10 years ago this summer I worked at Empress EMS. I remember when Unit 20 and 21 were repainted with the new Empress logo. Units 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26 were all brand new. I think at the time 22 went to MV. 52 and 53 were boxes and said "Paramedics" on them. Unit 39 still around? You could not kill that thing! Track = ZZZZZZ'sss! I remember when Trauma74 and I pulled over an Ice Cream Truck with Lights and Siren because it was like 100 outside on HOT July night and we wanted some ICE CREAM! EMPRESS IS A GOOD CREW!!!!
