  1. RESCUE ME Season 4 Wednesday June 13, 2007 10 PM on FX
  2. Oswegowind, This photo is even older, I am guessing early 1900's. [attachmentid=2938] As far as the status of the old Firehouse it will be moved sometime soon as PFD165 mentioned. The status of the building once it's moved will be up to the "CITY" I would sure love to see it as a nice fire museum.

  4. IN MEMORY OF LT. PETER B. LUND [attachmentid=2876] April 20, 1951 June 14, 2005 LT Pete Lund of FDNY Rescue was tragically lost in the line of duty on June 14, 2005 while operating at a House Fire with the Woodmere Volunteer Fire Department on Long Island, NY. Pete began his Firefighting career in the late 1960's as a Volunteer with his hometown Volunteer Fire Department in Woodmere, NY. Pete served in many offices in Woodmere, including that of Chief for several years. In 1973, Pete began his career with the Fire Department of New York. He earned his way to the elite rescue companies, spending much of his time with Rescue Company 2 in Brooklyn. After being promoted to lieutenant, Lt. Lund spent ten years with Rescue Company 3 in the Bronx before returning to his home at Rescue 2, where he remained until his retirement in 2003. After 30 years of service in the FDNY, Pete remained an active Volunteer with Woodmere. He also was a member of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George's County, Maryland where he enjoyed fighting fire along side his son, Matt, and riding Tower 33 - which Pete always said reminded him of his "young years" at TL-120. Lt. Lund was highly regarded by all who knew him. His endless wealth of firefighting knowledge was exceeded only by his desire to share his experiences with others. Pete was always upbeat, the first to help a brother in need, and just plain down to earth. He had phenomenal teaching and mentoring skills and no doubt inspired the careers of thousands of firefighters. Lt. Lund was no less than a modern firefighting legend and he will not be forgotten Those of you who know me know that Pete Lund was a good friend of mine and very close to my heart. He was my inspiration in joining the Fire Department. I have a lot of great memories riding with Pete and the Firefighters of FDNY Rescue 2 (Brooklyn) and FDNY Rescue 3 (Bronx) You can see Pete in action in some of the episodes of "The Bravest" RIP VULCAN! 5. Today, June 14, 2007.... REST IN PEACE BROTHER!
  6. I was very pleased with Rescue Me. I also think we are in for a good Season 4. They interviewed the cast and aired parts of it following the show. Did anyone catch it? Remark was made "this will be a great Season, don't get attached to any one character" Hmmm could that mean LODD?
  7. "The Last Men Out" Life on the edge at FDNY Rescue 2 By Tom Downey http://www.amazon.com/Last-Men-Out-Rescue-...e/dp/0805071695 EMTBravo Book Club is a GREAT idea! How about Training Videos too?
  8. "Rampart, this is Squad 51 we have a problem" Good topic, Here is MY two cents.... If you are transporting a PT, any PT and you are flagged down for a job you should make notification via radio or phone reporting the emergency and continue transporting your PT. If you have an extra CFR, EMT, or Paramedic on board and you can drop one at the scene with a Bag, O2, Collars great. Make sure you write up an Incident Report to document the situation VERY WELL indicating you were flagged down and had a PT already onboard enroute to the ER in your DIRECT patient care. Upon being flagged down you made notification to XYZ Dispatch and PD, FD, EMS were dispatched. Contact a Supervisor. CYA!!! As far as the flag down if you don't have DIRECT patient contact OR started care and left it's not "Abandonment" However... If you do jump out of the Ambulance to check on the second incident leaving the PT that would be 100% Abandonment. It does not matter if your PT has bad diarrhea and the flag down is a gunshot. The PT in your DIRECT care in the back of the Ambulance is your priority.
  9. RIP Officer Robert F. Dickey, CHP
  10. I don't worry about the pump panel, alsfirefighter takes care of that for me. LOL!
  11. 69-31? For a minute I thought it was an old Mohegan Ambulance. LOL! BIG TANKER!
  12. Ohhhh, Is that how to get your Gear "Dirty" ? What a total @$$!!!! He should never be allowed to gear up for the rest of his life. He could have been killed or more of a concern injured or killed Firefighters trying to save his @$$! A-HOLE OF THE YEAR AWARD!
  13. I DON'T smoke, Never have! I DO respect people who do wish to smoke, I have family members that smoke. I DO however have a problem with seeing EMS personnel and ER staff outside the doors to the ER puffing away. Usually more than one person at a time. Cough, Cough, Cough! Visiting Fire, Police, EMS Stations, Hospitals and seeing Cigarette butts all over the place is not cool and the CIGARETTE STENCH IS HORRIBLE! Just MY two cents on this topic!
  14. Do you have Bunk Beds, TV, and Shower in that cab? lol It's HUGE! I really like that rig a lot. GOOD LUCK E-106!!!
  15. A lot of the NYPD Traffic and NYPD School Safety cars have the Federal Signal Vista lightbars on the Chevy Impalas. I have not seen any of the Federal Signal Vista lightbars on NYPD Police cars. The Vector LED lightbars do look pretty cool.
  16. How about CITY HALL staff gear up and fight fires?
  17. I have a good friend who is a Police Officer for Suffolk County PD, He works in the 6TH PCT. He works midnights. He absolutely loves his job. He has made well over $100,000+ every year for the past 5 years. It's not uncommon for PO's to make 120's, 130's, or 150's. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE TAKING THE TEST!
  18. It they are PEACE OFFICERS and while ON DUTY have POLICE OFFICER powers and they decide to go Lights and Sirens everywhere WHO CARES! I've also seen the Dodge Charger SPCA car blowing thru Route 9 in Peekskill. If they are permitted too OK. If not, the first nice Crash and no more Code 3 runs. I just hope they hit ME! Cha-Ching... $$$$ If they are driving RECKLESS then someone should pick up the phone. As far as the NYC ASPCA you see on Animal Planet they are ALL NYS Peace Officers and carry Firearms, most are retired Police Officers and it's run VERY PROFESSIONAL. I don't know it ASPCA in NYC and SPCA in Briarcliff are the same agency. PS........... Truck 4, It was a barricaded EDP. Dog under the influence was holding 3 Cats, 1 Bird, and Snake hostage. SPCA ESU handled. lol
  19. NYPD Police Officer vs New York Lawyer A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a NYC Police Officer. He thinks that he is smarter than the Police Officer because he is a lawyer and is certain that he has a better education than any Police Officer . He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Police Officers expense. The Police Officer says," License and registration, please." "What for?" says the lawyer. The Police Officer says, "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign." Then the lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming." "You still didn't come to a complete stop, Says the Police Officer . License and registration, please." The lawyer says, "What's the difference?" "The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!" the says Police Officer . Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket." "That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir," the Police Officer says. At this point, the Police Officer takes out his nightstick and starts beating the ever-loving $@%#! out of the lawyer and says, "Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?" C'mon guys... We needed a good laugh! lol
  20. Seth, I must say, I REALLY like the new look and "Share Your Knowledge" I just hope "Work Together, Win Together" does not die because I also like that too. EXCELLECT JOB!
  21. OoO, That is a Highway Bar, it can be raised just like the NYPD Highway racks. Good for Accidents. It's Red and Amber Strobes. (New ones might be LED)
  22. [attachmentid=2885] I don't like Remember585 anyway or his smelly Ambulance!
  23. NYS DOH EMS Protocol Update - Administration of Aspirin http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/ems/p...ion_2007-01.pdf HVREMSCO Protocol Update -Administration of Aspirin http://www.hvremsco.org/Aspirin/Aspirin%20...AQs%20feb07.pdf Yes, 81 mg
  24. Remember585, I think he kind of looks like you when you were a kid. LOL
  25. Kentland FD Tool History "The Lund Bar" The Lund Bar has an interesting history. Due to union agreements in the FDNY, the officers are permitted to carry a small tool for personal use only. I felt that I wanted a tool with a little heft to it so I approached the charter members of “JAF” and asked them to shrink a Halligan tool down for me so as not to cause union problems on the fire floor. We simply took the middle 6" or 8" out of the center of the tool, prepared it for welding by bringing the two pieces to a point (to insure better welds) and then rejoined the two pieces with welds. After having one made for me, and seeing the success of the tool, other officers asked the men of “JAF” to make one for them. After the welds had been ground down and made smooth, we put the finishing touches on the tool by first putting a line of wrapped medical tape under a layer of thick, rubber electrical tape to make the tool easier to grip. In the past couple of years, the tools have been made by Jimmy Jaget, Sam Melisi and Vinnie Tavella for me – I have tried not to burden any one of our expert welders too much!!! Interestingly enough, I have noticed that Firemark Tools is now marketing a 20" Halligan Bar in their catalog but it was Jackass Fabrications that was in the forefront several years ago with this tool!!! Story by Pete Lund http://www.kentland33.com/lund.php [attachmentid=2884] Pete Lund grinding the "Lund Bar" at FDNY Rescue 2 "JAF - Jack Ass Fabrications" is a joke with the Firefighters at Rescue 2 who custom made and often modified tools for better use such as "The Lund Bar" sadly the Charter member Pete mentioned is R2 Firefighter Lincoln Quappe who lost his life on September 11, 2001
