  1. New York State does not have an "Official" EMT patch. http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/ems/policy/03-08.htm The newer style patches are the ones with the State Seal similar to that of a State Trooper patch which are commonly available in light blue and dark blue. (other colors too) also used by Empress is the white and blue patch that says "New York State Department of Health" which IMO looks the best!
  2. R1SmokeEater, GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!
  3. From the past Communications Forum Leader Congrats and Good Luck!
  4. I don't see any problem with a set of Irons on an Ambulance. I know of a couple VAC's that do and have been put to good use. I would suggest Training how to use them a MUST. They can be very useful and also very dangerous!
  5. Maybe this hiring was NOT "approved" by the VULCANS just like the last promotions.

  18. Clarkstown Police Officer Running for Wounded Soldiers
  19. This is why UNMARKED VEHICLES is the way to go! lol OK, in all seriousness here... Someone made a very good point. Having the vehicle is a perk of being a Fire Chief, a VOLUNTEER Fire Chief. Totally understandable and respectfully well deserved!!! Is it possible this Fire Chief was on OFFICIAL BUSINESS? Absolutely!!! It's not the first time this has happened or the last. Any given day if you drive by a FDNY Firehouse chances are good you will see a Fire Chief vehicle parked outside the Firehouse from Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Etc. Should ANY Fire Department or Fire District vehicle be allowed to leave that "Response Area" In my opinion... NO, they should NOT! But that is just my TWO cents and it does not mean anything. If a Fire Chief wants to take his Riverhead Long Island Fire Chief vehicle up to Lake Placid to Ski for the weekend and that Department or District does NOT care then why should WE? It's "My Taxpayer Money" Yes it is! If you only knew where some of this "Taxpayer" money was spent on you would have a STROKE so relax! Is this any different then taking an Engine, Ladder, Rescue, or ALL of the above and half the Manpower in 10 mile radius out of town to a Parade or Convention? I think a lot of the FUN (enjoyment) is taken out of Emergency Services.... and we wonder why we have problems getting NEW members? If it does not concern YOU then WHO CARES!!! Life is too short, ENJOY IT!

  24. I know of some Ambulances in the area that do carry the Mark I Kits, who has them and how many I am sure is a "Homeland Security" issue so I won't comment. If you want them for your VAC I would assume you can call the DOH and speak to them directly. NOTE: Smiley, I will leave my Mark I Kit for you as I will be RUNNING the other way! lol
