I think the painted roll-up doors look much better. IMO, I can't stand unpainted doors! (Sorry, just me!) If you keep the rig clean and proper lube of roll-up doors you should not have a problem. Painted or Unpainted all kinds of dirt and grit are going to get into it. Keep the rig clean and good PM! We have one rig with painted doors and one with unpainted doors. As with any Fire Apparatus HEAVY USE vs. LIGHT USE things are gonna chip, scratch, etc. JUST MAKE SURE YOU PAINT THE FIRE ENGINE RED! lol

PRE-PLAN! Establish SOP's or SOG's between the 911 Dispatchers and the Fire Department. What does the FD want for XYZ type of Calls? X = Gets an Engine. Y = Gets an Engine and Truck. Z = Gets a Full Assignment (i.e. 2 and 2, 3 and 2,) Rescue, Squad, Special Units? The more information you can obtain the better, Updates to responding units are always helpful. And one last thing with all due respect to Police Dispatchers, when someone calls for the Fire Department SEND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT! Don't send a Police Patrol to "Check and Advise" and DELAY the Fire Department. I would also agree with JBE about the Structure Fire response. WHEN IN DOUBT SEND THEM OUT!

With all of the Fire Departments that need equipment so bad you would think the City of New York would offer it to another Fire Department before they junk it (sink it) VERY SAD! Anyone have SCUBA gear? Once they sink it lets get it up, refurb it, and put into service EMTBravo River Rescue! lol

I noticed at the end of the Rescue911 episodes on YouTube it has the following: Vote for Rescue 911 to be released on DVD at http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/showinfo.cfm?showID=3531 And sign the online petition to bring it back to TV at http://www.petitiononline.com/res911/petition.html

I'd rather spend an extra 10 seconds to buckle my seatbelt going on a call then be Seriously Injured or KILLED. The same goes for unbuckling my seatbelt, What does it take 10 seconds? What's an extra 10 seconds before I can grab a SCBA, Irons, Fire Hose, Medical Bag, or AED? Unsecured Equipment in the Fire Apparatus or Ambulance is also a BIG concern. It would suck to be seat belted all safe and snug then take a a piece of Equipment to the head! Next time you jump in the Fire Truck or Ambulance BUCKLE UP and CHECK FOR HAZARDS that can hurt you.

Rescue911 was a GREAT show! I watch it on YouTube all the time. Did it come out on DVD yet? I heard a while back it might come back on the air but nothing yet. New version of Rescue911 would be cool

GOOD TOPIC! Yes, Smoke Detectors DO Save Lives. Working Ones! I was told several years ago that some Fire Departments stopped doing this because of a "Liability Issue" ??? Should the Smoke Detector fail. I think local FD's selling at a discount or giving away Fire Extinguishers, Smoke Alarms, and CO Alarms is a GREAT thing and awesome PR!

That $15,000 or $20,000 maybe even more $$$ could have been used to purchase some of that much needed equipment for the Brothers at FDMV. OR The Rescue could have been donated to a Fire Department that really needed it. IMO, I highly doubt that MV Rescue was given away for NOTHING! Maybe NOTHING to the City of Mount Vernon? I am sure the Captain got the "OK" from someone. The question is WHO authorized this "Gift" to the Scrap Yard? Remember that famous quote in Backdraft? "You see that flash of light in the corner of your eye, That's your career dissipation light. It just went into high gear" MOUNT VERNON FIREFIGHTERS YOU DESERVE BETTER!

INIT915, Do you mean that Navy Blue Ford Crown Vic or Chevy Tahoe with the Gold Lettering that says "STATE POLICE" ? As Medic442 said: I guess INIT915 needs to be "proactive" at roll call first thing in the morning and let the nice guys and gals wearing the Stetsons know about this.

I gave away a City of Mount Vernon Rescue Truck and all I got was a lousy T-Shirt!

Photounit, Chief, the reason I am concerned about posting or giving out the tones is because not that long ago someone was going around with a two-way radio setting off the tones of various fire departments, not only pager tones but firehouse alerting sirens. It seemed to be a prank but firehouse sirens sounding at 3 AM is just NOT funny. Yes, you can find just about anything on the internet or scanner books but I do not like to give out MY information like that to someone I don't know. That's just me. At one time to obtain information like this you had to know someone or someone had to know you. I do however respect your opinion. I hope you understand where I am coming from. Stephen, If your friend wants that information for his scanner or pager you can PM me. We'll talk. I didn't want to post a whole Westchester County tone list on here. If he is a member of Mohegan FD I am sure if he contacts one of the Fire Chiefs or fellow members who are Radio Buffs they will give him that information. BE SAFE!
-
I have the Tone List for Westchester County Fire & EMS but I honestly have to question WHY you would need it? Are you a member of a particular Westchester FD or EMS agency? Stuff like that should NOT be floating around to anyone.
