Shore Plaza Motel & Sam's Pizza On The Boardwalk - Wildwood, NJ December 9, 2005 250 firefighters from Wildwood, North Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Rio Grande, Green Creek, Wildwood Crest, West Wildwood, Ocean City, Upper Township, Belleplain and Petersburg responded. This fire hits close to home with me, I've been going to the Shore Plaza for over 30 years. It was one of, if not the best Motel in Wildwood and right on the Boardwalk. I am looking for some input on the Firefighting Tactics from some experienced Firefighters, Fire Officers, and PD/FD Aviation. Maybe we can ALL learn something. Take a look at the Video! CBS 3 News Chopper Video: http://cbs3.com/video/?id=19659@kyw.dayport.com 32 Minutes I realize a Fire in a Building of this size is very difficult to fight but do you think if the News Chopper was a Police or Fire Chopper and had radio contact with Fire Crews it would have made a difference at directing the streams and help extinguish the fire quicker?

If I remember correctly WCPD and NYPD Aviation have been used locally at Large Brush Fires. Was that just for the Water Bucket or also Observation Assistance to the Incident Command? Any large Structure Fires?

I am not a member of Banksville FD but will do my best for you. Banksville FD is located in Westchester County they cover parts of the Town of North Castle. They are on Bedford-Banksville Road in Bedford, NY close to the border of Greenwich, CT and they have a lot of dual responses and M/A with Greenwich FD. I am guessing in some areas it make take several minutes for Greenwich FD to arrive coming from a distance so the Banksville FD is also dispatched to alarms close to the border. Banksville Independent Fire Department is all volunteer. As per the information I have: Engines 157, 158, 159 Tanker 7 Mini-Attack 11 Rescue 7 Chiefs 2581, 2582, 2583

I was down in NYC tonight at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Milstein Building where I saw what looked liked a Regional EMS Ambulance but as I got closer I noticed it now says "Rockland Mobile Care"

After reading through this article and several others about Consolidation of Fire Departments how much money do you think WESTCHESTER COUNTY Cities, Towns, and Villages could save if we also consolidated? We have 6 Cities, 19 Towns, and 20 Villages in Westchester County with the following Fire Apparatus. Please note; the numbers of Fire Apparatus is approximate. - Engines 225+ - Ladders 70+ - Tower Ladders 45+ - Rescues 40+ - Tankers 15+ - Mini-Attacks 20+ WOW...... That's a lot of Fire Apparatus and a lot of money! Just one less Engine or Ladder and put that money towards Firefighter PPE, Firefighter Training, and other much needed Equipment. Did I mention Firefighter Training? 57 Fire Departments and Approx. 140 or so Firehouses What are your thoughts? Does Westchester County have too much?
