AMEN BROTHER! Hearing "Budget Cuts" it amazes me when you hear essential services such as Police and Fire on the chopping block. Criminals don't cut back, Fires don't go out. Crime gets worse and Fires burn. Street Crime officers? Oh that's great! Yonkers is crime free? I don't see any mention of cuts to the Mayor's Security Detail? Yonkers has been in the RED with money for a long time. Mayor just realized this? Make some cuts to non-essential services!

That will be interesting to see how it is enforced? Can it be enforced? I think EVERYONE warms up cars on a cold morning. Can you be ticketed in your driveway?

November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. Today, we call it Veterans Day. To all the Veterans who served our country THANK YOU! God Bless America!

I have to mention one very sad thing that I see all too often is a Homeless Veteran. As a country we need to do more for those who served and those who will serve our country.

Good Topic! Person Down at 3 AM If I can speak with the patient, i.e. fall out of bed, lift assist, or non-serious injury I might wait a couple minutes for the Police so they can witness my entry and later secure the location. I would also check for another way in such as a unlocked or open Window. Perhaps ask them if a neighbor has a key or if they have a key hidden someplace. If I cannot speak with the patient, I will have to assume they might be unconscious, unresponsive, or in cardiac arrest. I would not waste any time and force entry immediately. Door or Window using whatever Tools I have available. Obviously, If we can do the least amount of damage I am all for it and will take time to attempt such but if no answer at the door with no verbal contact..... BUSTIN' IN! Worry about it later. Did you ever watch the episode of COPS where the Police Officer thought the House was on Fire and started busting out all the windows? He was trying to alert the occupants inside the house it was on fire. Unfortunately, he was at the wrong house. lol The house behind him was on fire but all the smoke was pushing his way. As funny as it is to watch I feel that the Police Officer acted in a "Reasonable Manner" given the circumstances. You don't always have to be RIGHT, You have to be REASONABLE! Now, with that being said. You bust in a door at 3 AM only to find that no one is home and Fluffy the cat sitting on the HELP button of the "I've fallen and I can't get up box" Whoops! Having forced entry a few times that's my TWO cents! PS Fluffy RMA'd!

I've been hearing on the street numerous people who plan on coming to the EMTBravo Holiday Party. That's Great! Everyone is welcome but PLEASE if you plan on attending send an e-mail EMTBravoEvents@aol.com We need an approximate head count for the Food, etc. Obviously I don't want Food for 20 when 100 show up or Food for 100 when 20 show up. Thanks!

I believe under Civil Service laws / requirements a Career Firefighter or Police Officer has One Year to complete an Academy. They can do OTJ Training until such time. If they are going to keep him on the FDMV then he will need to be in the next Academy. Hudson144 I knew those really good Chili Dogs were stolen! LOL

I forgot to mention.... They have a DJ on Friday nights so it should be a lot of fun!

With all due respect, I find it pretty funny that my fellow Volunteer Firefighters and EMT's want to use BLUE LIGHTS on Emergency Vehicles such as Fire Apparatus and Ambulances. Why didn't YOU support this bill when it was proposed by the New York State Police? Had YOU supported it maybe today ALL Emergency Vehicles would have Rear Facing Blue Lights not just Law Enforcement. As of today, In New York State, Rear Facing Blue Lights are for Law Enforcement ONLY Back on December 19, 2002 Trooper Robert W. Ambrose was struck and killed on I-87 in Yonkers while writing an accident report on the side of the road. After this incident the New York State Troopers PBA fought for several safety improvements, one of them being BLUE LIGHTS. I know this first hand because I am happy to say I was part of that fight. Shortly after Trooper Ambrose was killed I sent letters to the Governor, State Senators, House Speaker, and State Police Superintendent pushing for this revised Blue Light law. Any members of the State Police who know me can vouch for me including the President of the New York State Police PBA. Moving on.... Where were all the Volunteer Firefighters? FASNY did nothing but try to FIGHT this along with numerous Volunteer Firefighters across New York State and now YOU want to use Blue Lights on Fire Apparatus and Ambulances? I am all for SAFETY, without a doubt BLUE really gets attention on the roadways and I agree that ALL Emergency Vehicles should have Rear Facing Blue Lights. Police, Fire, and EMS. Just remember next time we fight something such as allowing Law Enforcement to use Blue Lights lets educate ourselves on SAFETY. We can ALL benefit from it. I hope this new bill is passed. BE SAFE!
