Peekskill Police Honor Guard Needs Assistance The Peekskill Police Honor Guard was formed in May of 2014 when several officers participated in ceremonies in Albany, New York and Washington D.C. to recognize Detective Charlie Wassil, Detective Wassil had passed away due to health complications sustained during his work at the world trade center site immediately following the 9/11 attacks. These officers have continued this detail and have attended several other events over the last year. The unit would like to raise money to buy new equipment and help offset the costs of attending events. Thank you for your support. GoFundMe Page: http://www.gofundme.com/PeekskillPolice

Back in the late 90's and early 2000's numerous police agencies had LoJack receivers in police vehicles. Very noticeable with the 4 antennas and receiver in vehicle that would beep and give out a code. I don't see them anymore. Any PD agencies still use them?

IMO, If it was not in service yet that is understandable. If it was in service and needed for an emergency to assist another agency it should have been sent no question. We need to maintain positive relationships between agencies. If nothing less send it as a professional courtesy.

2 Men Accused of Interfering With NYPD Police Choppers With Laser Pointer Wednesday, Oct 1, 2014 • Updated at 5:14 AM EDT Police say they’ve arrested two men on felony charges after they allegedly interfered with NYPD helicopters in separate incidents last month, with one allegedly deliberately shining a laser pointer at a pilot and another allegedly flying a drone too closely to a department chopper. Police say that 26-year-old Daniel Parris was cuffed on suspicion that he shined a laser pointer at a chopper that was hovering over Jamaica Hills, Queens, during a search for an assault suspect on Sept. 24. The chopper pilot said that he was hovering about 750 feet over the neighborhood when he saw a green flash that illuminated the entire cockpit, according to the NYPD. The flash forced him to take off the night-vision goggles he was using to conduct the search. STORY: http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/NYPD-Chopper-Helicopter-NYC-Obstruction-Laser-Pointer-Drone-Brooklyn-Queens-277705321.html?_osource=SocialFlowFB_NYBrand I remember this happening to the WCPD Chopper a while back. VERY DANGEROUS!

Did WCPD write the Town Supervisor's friend a ticket or arrest a close friend? WCPD is an outstanding police agency.

SWEET! Thanks for sharing Pagers.

I think Low Band is on it's way out. (being pushed out by the big M) Everyone seems to be making the switch over to UHF frequencies which leaves VHF wide open. Something to consider.

Rodolfo (Vito) Beheran is one of the strongest, hardworking men there are. An iron worker, a firefighter, a family man. He has never backed down when the cards were stacked against him and he has always done what he has had to do to support his family, even if that meant working two full-time jobs. Sadly just three months ago, Vito was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer and he is facing his biggest battle yet. He worked for as long as he could but the treatments have taken their toll and he is no longer able to provide for himself and his family the way he would like to. In order to give the Beheran family, and most importantly Vito, some peace of mind, we are asking you to donate what you can to help them out. With one child in college, two young children and mounting medical bills, a little bit would go a long way. Please help this family so that they can focus on Vito's health and spending time together as a family instead of worrying about the financial burden that this illness has caused. Thank you so much! Just my TWO cents on this..... 35 years as a resident in the City of Peekskill. Fire runs are down. EMS runs are up. The system is not perfect. Is any FD or EMS agency? Before we bash an agency such as a Career, Vollie or Combo FD why don't we give a little credit? Peekskill FD Career Firefighters are some of the best Paramedics/EMT's in Westchester County. They have received numerous lifesaving awards, It was not uncommon several years ago to wait for an Ambulance 10, 15, 20+ minutes. No ALS. No BLS Engine/Rescue. Maybe a PPD Officer would respond with an EMS bag. PPD had a few EMT's. Can "the system" be better? Perhaps. Is it a ticking time bomb? No The Chiefs, Officers & Members of the PFD (Career and Volunteer) do the best they can with the resources they have.
