The new ladder 25 is now in the Locust Ave firehouse. It will be trained on for a few weeks then it will go into service, then the current ladder will go to excelsior to have some work done. I just saw it today and it looks nice.

In the 1960's the FDNY placed a 144 foot (yes 144 feet) rear mount in service as High Ladder 1. It was first used as a second piece for Ladder 24 then it went to Ladder 119. The ladder was 138 feet with a thin six foot ladder that extended from the tip of the aerial. It responded only to special calls to incidents requiring its use.
