  1. Yankees !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. With snowbird season approaching and JetBlue flying non-stop to South Florida it is only going to get busier. I say the hell with the trees and expand the airport and the runway. People who bought houses near an airport in a county close to NYC should of realized there could be growth potential.
  3. What depts..paid or volunteer have a position of training officer which is not a line or chief officer? Do you feel it is better having someone who's only responsiblity is training and not other officer duties? Do you feel a line or chief officer should also be the training officer? Also what qualifies those in your dept to be the training person? What are your educational requirements? Sorry for all the questions...
  4. Happy 1st Bday....start socking away for college...my son turns 15 in 4 weeks..time goes fast.
  5. That's the problem today...the real issue isn't being addressed and this is no way any reflection on SHVAC as I know some people there and they are a good organization but the issue is a perp broke the law, got caught, resisted arrest and pushed a cop. Maybe the police should of allowed him to be treated but again let SHVAC and SHPD work this out.
  6. He may be not much of a threat but he is still a threat in general. I deem any prisoner in my custody a threat.
  7. "Mota had been stopped by Detective Jose Quinoy and Officer Paul Nelson for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. When the officers said they would have to take the bike to police headquarters to check if it had been stolen, Mota began cursing and yelling at them. Mota then shoved Quinoy and ran off, police said. He was caught and struggled again with Quinoy, who directed Nelson to shoot the teenager with the stun gun". I am not defending the police but based on what I have read could it be the person in custody was deemed a threat to both the crew and the police? Wasn't he accused by the police of pushing a detective? Unless you were part of the EMS crew I feel you cannot pass judgement based on what is put in the media especially lately there seems to be a magnifying glass on law enforcement. I fully understand the EMS crews frustration but I think untill all facts are put out we should refrain from passing judgement.
  8. Proud to say I have never lost any pager or radios....lost alot of other things..
  9. When I used to teach EVOC I always hammered into people that your actions as a driver can impact lives in a split second. You have to be careful and think about what you are doing. The wife of the person killed, the other responders and the driver himself now will have to live with this as well as face possible legal issues. All will fell the brunt of this in one way or another. For the sake of your fellow responders, the public, and yourself.....slow down!!!
  10. First..there are allegations at this time. Second...I don't see anything funny about the article.
  11. Many more Hap...
  12. I think just out of fear anyone would of.
  13. I feel untill the facts are presented no judgement on either one is appropiate. I do agree with the other posters that safety of all those working is #1
  14. You can start any thread you wish. I don't think it is right to blame one certain group of people as you did. Missing backboards have always been a problem...simpy handle it and move on.
  15. What does this response have to do with you accusing career ems people of stealing boards??? Please enlighten me and the rest of the posters especially those you are accusing...
  16. Do you have proof of that??? I can only imagine who is feeding you this information. Pitiful !!!
  17. My sincerest coldolences go to the family of Robert Beddia and also to the FDNY.
  18. My sincerest coldolences go to the family of Joe Graffagnino and also to the FDNY.
  19. Resr in peace.
  20. I have to agree. The whole idea of these forums is for people to express what is on thier mind. I don't always agree with what I read here and I am sure others have not agreed with what I have posted. I know the paid/volunteer issue is always a hot topic which I usually prefer not to get involved with but it is my right not to do so as it is I feel the right of those on both sides of the issue to express thier feelings regardless of who is going to get pissed off. If we can't disagree than what is the purpose of being heard??
  21. Unfortunately he will be protected in jail...put on protective custody.
  22. I noticed on this website there was a picture of Valhalla Vac's suppost unit. I am wondering what it will be used for ( extra supplies, personell rehab, etc) and is it available for mutual aid. Good luck to Valhalla on thier new rig.
  23. If people join just to drink than who wants them?? And if the powers to be think losing a bar will hamper recruiting efforts than those powers to be need to go..
  24. I have a question....when a dept marches in a Memorial Day Parade which I beileve is to honor and show support to our veterans...is that considered being political? Or when each we we attend a 9/11 service to honor the responders who died...is that being political??? Please go to the web site for the Daily News and read the report from the NYPD commissioner about operatives here in the US and what can happen in the future...not only did I support what Nyack did before but all the more I do now. We are facing bigger issues than wether a fire dept stood by and supported the very same people that give us the freedoms we enjoy.
