I dont know what a better way would be. Perhaps that would be a good question for a dispatcher who would have the expertise to answer that question. Parades are social functions, not emergencies.
-
I disagree, respectfully. Alot can happen in 30 seconds. Parade announcements are not emergencies.

Never forgotten.

May they rest in peace.

Why tie up an emergency frequency with a parade announcement?

Played a great part in Cool Hand Luke and also Fort Apache.

If they are resigning because of that than hell with them...who needs them. They should not be allowed to join anywhere else.

I have been a Yankee fan for years but I have to say all this hype about them moving into thier new home has been played out especially when millions of Americans are losing thier homes and most of us can't afford to go to a game because the tickets and food are through the roof to help pay thier million dollar salaries.

C'mon...polishing and waxing is hard work...besides we don't need no stinkin training
-
That would be nice only our liberal system would want the officer in jail.

I have used RescueStuff when I was a chief and they were very reliable and quick to get my orders done. I highly recommend them.

My bigger problem is with the "sponges" who are young and do nothing but whine and cry and spend more time watching what everyone else does.
-
I think it is a good idea. It doesn't put any burden on the taxpayers.

Congrats...

Anyone notice when you signed on to AOL in the news section the picture of a guy hanging on to a sign during the hurricane?

Typical politician. On the fence. With the regards to this statement: “This veto directly impacts the recruitment and retention efforts of local fire and EMS agencies, and has happened at a time when the record prices for gasoline are a major cost factor for volunteers, who are already giving of their own time and resources,” said Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) President Thomas J. Cuff, Jr." I fail to see how the veto impacts the recruitment and retention effort anymore than it is impacted. I think times were better when we got nothing but a picnic and t-shirt along with a thank you. Mccain and Obama were on talking on TV the other night about national service and I believe Mccain said allthough he favors incentives you can't take away the reason for volunteering which is to serve.

I was on our engine backing in to the firehouse. One of our members ran into the bay and told us one of the towers was hit by a plane. Within a short time we were heading south on I-87 towards the Bronx and stayed there untll early next morning than werere-located to Yonkers Raceway. Hours later we found out one of our members who was with FDNY was missing. He never came home. It still hurts.

Lets also keep in our prayers our troops who are fighting for us. God Bless America !!!

In order to have the consistency in training and standards you need to have someone who would have the credentials to do the training. Perhaps in a career setting it would work because most likely the dept would use a MTO or line officer who has the certs to do it. In a volunteer setting unless someone has the certs it may not work.

I call them sponges because they join and soak up everything they can than if they last 5 years they become exepmt benevolent members for life and are entitled to whatever benefits the benevolent offers.
-
I believe it should be amended for all emergency vehicles.

I found this in Wickepedia: Constables serve at the pleasure of the local towns and villages, usually in a civil aspect for the courts. However, constables are considered law enforcement officers under New York State law. Their powers can be limited by each jurisdiction. Constables are considered peace officers (NY Criminal Procedure Section 2.10) and have arrest powers within their jurisdiction while on duty (section 2.20) and must complete peace officer training as approved by the NY Division of Criminal Justice Services. There are restrictions on whether appointed constables can have peace officer powers based on the whether the municipality is a town or village and the number of residents. If a constable is not appointed as a constable with peace officer powers, they can only serve civil process.
