Prayers for a speedy recovery for the officers. I also hope they get reckgonized for thier actions. They put the child's life instead of thier own and because of that the child was not hurt. With all the negative publicity YPD gets especially by media incidents like this should be should be on the headlines.

I was at Haldane ( Cold Spring) High School today to watch my son play football and noticed two ambulances there standing by for the game. I know that it is required to have ems at the games but do the VAC's that stand by at games get reimbursed for the time spent there? Are these rigs OOS throughout the duration of the game?

Donalt Trump stated: "Anytime we pay more than $50.00 a barrel we are in a depression."

I thought the checks had to be complete before offering a position...at least that was the case with my job.

May they return safely and may God protect them and thier families.

Excellent point and good topic. Maybe FASNY should lobby the state to incorporate more building construction type classes into FF1.

Seems to be the norm lately...not just in the fire service...

I second that.

This is the most rational post so far on this subject and my condolences go to them as well. It was a tradegy but before jugdement is passed on the cop why not wait untill all the FACTS are presented and not judge based on what you read in the paper.

The price of bands is off the hook, about 1,000 a pop and I am sure I am low-balling. . Add to that the price of trophies, fuel used, etc a parade can be very expensive but yet we cry there is not enough money for training or equipment. I could find better uses for that money.

While that sounds good lets not forget Mr. Buffet could afford to play with money like that. How many of us civil servants are willing to gamble with money in our defered comp? Not me. I was in all agressive funds untill this past February and will stay there for now. Call me chicken but I am too close to retirement to gamble.

I guess radio discipline is not important. I will ask this question which is not related to radio frequencies. Why is it so important that my engine is better than yours or my ladder is older than yours or I have more in the line of march. Dont get me wrong I know parades are a show of pride and by no means am I saying to do away with them but to be honest it sucks that we are not supposed to wave at kids or other people because some judge is watching you. (I wave anyway) What fun is that? And people spend counltess hours cleaning, waxing, etc ( bit I have no time for training) to win a trophy that will no longer fit in a trophy case for a specific category. To me these categories mean nothing which is why I enjoy the Memorial Day parade where we march to honor our vets, show our pride to the public and not worry if my firetruck is cleaner than yours. Ok....fire away

In a way I am glad this bill was defeated. It seemed the greedy executives with thier million dollar salaries and bonuses would have been bailed out only to falter some time down to road leaving more debt to our kids and grandkids.

Put your money under your pillow...

Wow..I guess parade results are really that important.

Just wondering what the thoughts were on tonight's debate. I feel McCain dominated the debate with his clear and decisive answers. Obama seemed a bit nervous and was not clear as to his agenda. I would, however liked to have seen the topic of immigration debated which is adding to our draining economy but hopefully it will be in a future debate.

Yes but on a positive note the Giants are 3-0

I don't have an issue with a LODD announcement over the air. To me that is far more important then wether a parade is being cancelled.
-
Why ask such a question. He has his opinions and I believe he is entitled to it without being asked if he is out of his mind even if I or anyone else disagrees with him.
-
My knowledge of radios and frequencies are limited. And those who know me know my position on parades. In light of this I ask is it possible that a frequency can be established for announcements such as parade info or other non-emergency functions? Or with just about everyone being issued cell phones why not call the department hosting the parade if you feel it may be cancelled or is all this just a waste of time and resources.

Allthough I am not a Met fan I did enjoy watching Tom Seaver pitch. And who can forget the famous fight between Buddy Harrelson and Pete Rose.
