  1. It is sad. I feel some parents simply give in or are afraid to tell thier children " NO". " You can't" etc and this reflects on how a kids grow up. There is too much junk out there on tv, interet, video games etc that preach violence like Grand Theft Auto. Imagine a game that glorifies killing cops and people in general.
  2. Yes once again the big bad USA is the first sending money, military, and rescue personnell.
  3. Very tragic. Such a young life. May she rest in peace. Makes you want to hug your kids harder.
  4. "The mayor noted that during negotiations, members of the fire department's negotiating team said firefighters would do anything to maintain their jobs." As much as I think this is absurd I have to ask if members of the negotiation team say they would do anything to keep thier jobs what leg do they have to stand on? Did they kind of dig thier own graves? Did they actually say they would cross kids or did the mayor take thier statement out of context. As a member of a negotiation team I feel you have to be careful what you say to management. They will construe what you say to thier advantage. I wish these guys luck and hope for a favorable solution. What next...plows on fire trucks? Fixing potholes? Meter reading?
  5. I miss the days when new members came in and knew thier place. I miss the days when officers were leaders...not puppets who cater to the politically correct. I miss the days when a simple thank you was all that was needed. I miss the days when me and you could argue about something and it was forgotten about. I miss the days when you could break someone's ba**s and not worry about hazing charges. I miss the days when fire commissioners were fire commissioners...not commissioners who want to be everything else. What I miss most is the brotherhood which is dwindling away...I hope to see it return.
  6. Isn't this the truth.
  7. Does not surprise me. Seems to day people should get what they want simply because they want and government at all levels are caving in. I just read where students in Iraq who were displaced by the war can now come to our country and go to college for free. Here I am worrying how I am going to pay to send my son to college this Fall. The land of opportunity !!!
  8. I am not a "light person" but I have a question. This morning on my way to work I saw a person responding to call in his POV (SUV) that had red lights flashing in the rear window. Despite it looking ridiculous is this illegal?
  9. So nothing that JJB531 posted allows for a privately owned vehicle to have red flashing ( not hazard) lights in the rear window.
  10. This is not targeted to anyone but I am a firm believer in "if you can't take the heat"...you know the rest. We all have opinions and should be able to express them without being accused of bashing. I have read many comments about volunteer departments such as training (or lack of) manning, response time, too much equipment, blue lights. consolidation..etc and you know what....most of them are true so I suggest either get thick skinned about and fix the problem or do something else. The politically correct tone is ruining the fire service. I am seeing it first hand and it disgusts me.
  11. May he rest in peace.
  12. I had the pleasure of knowing John. May he rest in peace.
  13. Pathetic !!!!
  14. I wish the best for those being laid off and NRFD. It is ashame how the bean counters have a blind eye when it comes to public safety.
  15. From what I have seen that is part of the priblem.
  16. Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I am seeking information on vehicle exhaust in firehouses. What exactly are the laws and to what laws do they fall under? Are there specific types of exhuast systemt that must be used? Thanks.
  18. This is why elections should be a thing of the past. We need to start appointing qualified, competent people, not politically correct puppets who are afraid to rock the boat.
  19. From what I read the perp went for the gun he had taken from one of the murdered officers and at that point the officer fired and killed him. As far as I am concerned he was justified. Perhaps some criminal loving liberal group who hates cops will find fault but at the end of the day this no good POS will never hurt or kill anyone again and there will be no concerns as to wether his "right" are being attented to while he was in jail. May these officer rest in peace and may God watch over those left behind.
  20. May they rest in peace.
  21. May he rest in peace.
  22. I have read countless NIOSH reports and believe they are usually on the money with thier findings but I have to say I am scratching my head on this one. Chief Spinelli presented an excllent response on thisone.
  23. I have a big problem with the concept because the very same people who got us into this economic crisis now want to take more from the allready overtaxed people. Vote them all out!!!!
  24. We are in a diferent era. We have an administration which will not consider what happened in Fort Hood a terorist act. According to our president there is no war on terror. My concern is their so called civil rights will play a factor during thier trial.
