The answer should be yes to all three. And to add....how about training members?

First I would like to see Jet Blue go to Vegas non-stop

Jim there is a 1998 comptrollers opinion that supports this.

Good point and I also wish the same but what bothers me is that we have organizations such as FASNY, WCVFA, Westchester Chiefs, etc. All supposed to be representing our best interests. Untill we demand that these organizations demand that such a course be developed as well as total reform in the selection of officers nothing will change. I think most people on this forum know my position on this issue and that I have pushed for change. You go to other parts of the country there is one standard for firefighter, one for officer, regardless if volunteer or career. Period!

What is the standard(if any) for gear or other protective clothing for EMS? Does OSHA/PESH have requirements? Is there an NFPA standard? Thanks.
-
I second that!!!

I have to agree. I have seen some embarassing things go on after parades. Grown men acting like idiots in uniform.

Someone you could look up to. Someone you would trust with your life. Someone who never stops learning. Someone who is not afraid to make decisions and stands by them. Someone who puts others first. Someone who tells you like it is and not what you want to hear.

Congrats Chris

Why does this surprise anyone? Remember the two border patrol agents who were sent to prison for shooting and injuring a convicted drug dealer who was attempting to cross the border? I believe they both recieved 10 year sentences when they should of recieved medals. Sad state of affairs is an understatement.

Do fire stations require building permits when work is being done in the station like residential houses or other properties?

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I have had the opportunity to drive with gear and no gear at all and I prefer no gear hands down. To me the gear is very restrictive and hinders driving and could create a hazard but I agree it should be personal preference and not a hard fast SOP.

I believe PVAC should be commended for taking a pro-active stance on firefighter rehab. They have proven to be a valuable resource and I am glad they are available when needed.

As a "victim" and " culprit" of many pranks over the years I would never dream that a prank could actually end up where complaints were filed, lawyers, etc. There was always a time to be serious and a time to have some fun and in my day the one who would be the brunt of a joke usually took it on the chin, laughed and proved that he could take it. I was the brunt of many pranks and jokes and believe me they were some of the best times as I felt a sense of belonging and felt I could be trusted. Now the climate is much different ( and I am speaking for the volunteers). I was taught you have to be thick skinned in this business which is something I firmly believe today.

Bruce was a great guy. May he rest in peace.

I can not believe, especially that in this day and age that the Chief of this department would allow this to happen.

Unfortunately the only "judge" some seem to worry about is the parade judge.
