I am all for peaceful protest and freedom of speech. I am not for blanant disregard for the law and for those who are trying to uphold it. Many of these protestors are simply criminals with an agenda. Besides....they should be protesting Congress along with Fannie May and Freddie Mac who continie to soak the taxpayers...

First your parents are 100% correct. You need an education and I feel today it needs to go beyond the bachelor's level. I am a parent of an aspiring police officer or firefighter ( or perhaps baseball player) who is presently in college whom I am on top of day and night to continue his studies while he takes civil service tests. It may never happen for him so he needs a back up plan. I believe you can see it is a tough economy right now so you need to be more marketable and I believe an education is key. On another note I myself am a soon to be retired civil servant and dropped out of college after 3 semesters despite my parents plea for me to stay in. I wish had listened to my parents.

As long as they are represented by CSEA I don't see them getting what they deserve.

With the understanding that I am not a lawyer and perhaps there are other parts of the law or opinions that would contradict but here is what I found which was referenced from an attorney general's opinion regarding the compatability of a fire commissioner and a paid mechanic employed by the fire district... Town law Section 175: . Every fire district commissioner, treasurer and secretary must at the time of his election or appointment and throughout his term of office be a resident of such fire district. Membership in a volunteer fire company shall not disqualify any such fire district commissioner, treasurer or secretary. A person who has been convicted of arson in any degree shall not be eligible for election or appointment to the office of fire district commissioner, treasurer or secretary. Any fire district commissioner, treasurer or secretary who is convicted of arson in any degree during his term of office shall be disqualified from completing such term of office.

Thank you. So far all I have seen in law was you can not be a chief or asst chief and be a commissioner.

Not only is this totally crazy and unsafe, I see a major union issue with this. You are adding duties to firefighters that I do not believe to be in thier job descriptions and you are taking away duties from correction officers...I hope the unions that represent both ( assuming that they are union) fight this hard not only for job protections but for public safety. And just because thier present crimes they are doing time for are minor doesn't mean they could of have more severe convictions in the past.

Will that be red or white with your IV...

I am curious to know what law this comes from. Thank you.

I have never been a dispatcher but know a few and can say it is a very stressful, demanding job and I feel they are grossly underpaid.
