She leaves tonight at midnight, and Jimboy and I will miss her immensly. It was a blast acting like I was 20 again. Big Jim will be flying out tomorrow night, and we will be finishing up here and coming home. It will be an emotional goodbye. I have heard that there will be coming home festivities. . . I will let you all know when I know the details, in case you want to join in. I love you all and can't wait to touch ground in NY. That ride from the airport will be the longest journey of my entire trip. God Bless you each and every one. My life is filled with joy because you are all in it. I love you, Gina & Jimboy

----------------- Forwarded Message: Subj: Update 01/10/05 Date: 1/10/2005 7:03:51 P.M. Eastern Standard Time From: GinaArena To: GinaArena BCC: JA3KFD Hello Everyone, Just thought I would write to let you know that we are okay. There is a lot of flooding here, and the pool outside our new condo will be overflowing soon. I would not expect anything less. Kim Brown flew out on Friday night to stay a week with me. So far we have not left the condo because it has been pouring for about four days. Just so you know, the normal rainfall here is 15.7" from July to July. Since Christmas Day we have had 20.5" of rain. The mudslides have been horrible - a lot of people trapped, although we are not near them, just watching on the news is devastating. Thank goodness we are towards the center of the valley, and we just go to the hospital in the morning for treatment. It should get nice out again tomorrow afternoon. So far, flooding, earthquake, mudslides and ten feet of snow in the mountains above us, since I have been here, but you know us, we just keep on a truckin. So, we are down to 9 more treatments!!!!! I can't believe it. I will be sad to say goodbye to all our nurses and doctors here. It is one thing when you know you can go visit anytime. This road has brought me this way, and I have learned a lot about a lot of different things since I have been here. We will be flying home on Sunday, Jan. 23rd to JFK at 8:20 am. I can't say enough, I can't believe it. Please continue your prayers and love. We are so thankful to all of you. I love you all, and please, please, please tell those you love how much you love them - life can change in an instant. Love you all, Gina & Jimboy

Seth isnt is amazing to see the way the people dress out there when it gets below 60???? I definately know what you are talking about with the dress up. Heck just about the whole time I have been out there has been short and t shirt weather to me. I hope you feel better. Avoid the empty drainage pits its amazing to see them and the people who still think they can get across them. Have seen some of the moronic moves the people do after it rains.Take up JetBlue on the Cheap Airfares sure has gone down after New Years.

I agree with Hooks057,anything is possible, but I was on the group that helped get this done,a lot of thought went into this ,Hooks did a Major part of all this,we got ordinances from Neighboring towns as well as some from across the country took all the best parts out and had the ordinance drafted.Hooks did one heck of a job and I feel and still feel it is a great 3 dept. effort that got it drafted and done. Thanks For the great work and it really was a great start to all 3 Town of Bedford FDs getting things done together. And yes that was a topic of discussion in the onset of PD not having one. (keys)

Seth good luck out there, hopefully it will not rain too much . Hope the flight was good as well, Gina posted the number to apt. on the e mail she sent out. Enjoy all your favorite food as well.

----------------- Forwarded Message: Subj: Updated Information Date: 1/1/2005 5:39:06 P.M. Eastern Standard Time From: GinaArena To: GinaArena BCC: JA3KFD Well, as most of you know, I came home with Jimboy for Christmas. Jimboy's reactions disappeared while we were home. Definitely the condo in CA. We were unable to get a flight back on Monday night so returned on Tuesday night. Daddy Jim came with us because we had a lay over in Phoenix, and it was a good thing he did because the flights were delayed because of weather. What an extremely bumpy ride from Phoenix to Ontario, CA. Anyway, we then realized we were at the wrong terminal compared to where the car was, and we walked about a mile in extremely heavy rain. There were tornado warnings we found out later. I put my coat over the stroller, Jimboy never got wet, but Jim and I were a different story. We really had a good laugh. It is nice to enjoy the things in a different light. These things really don't bother us anymore. So, back to the condo we went, to ants that had taken over the place, and Jimboy starting to have another reaction. We figured out that they probably also bombed the place to get rid of the ants. Wonder why he was having such bad reactions. The next day for treatment, packed up the condo, signed new paperwork for new place, moved in that night and Jimboy has been great ever since. All three of us spent quality time together until Jim's departure on New Year's Eve and landed at 8:20 am on New Year's Day. I am sure the girls were thrilled to see him. He will bring Jessica back to school on Sunday, January 2nd. Jimboy and I miss him very much, along with the family. Before Jim left Jimboy ate 7 ham sandwiches throughout the day. Making up for lost time - yes SEVEN. So, here we sit again, with 15 more treatments to go, which puts us at about January 21st, the day before the one year diagnosis anniversary - how strange. We do not receive mail here, only packages from UPS or Fed Ex. If you want to send mail you can send it to the old address until January 10. Our new delivery address is Rosewood Apts., 26238 Redlands Blvd., #111, Loma Linda, CA 92354. Our new phone number (CALL ANYTIME) is (909)796-1842. Much love to you and your Family and God Bless you all always, Gina & Jimboy PS. shaved his head yesterday - looks adorable - i will send a picture soon

Well its New Years eve, I am getting ready to fly back to NY tonight,I will be leaving Calif for approx. 2 weeks, JImmy seems to be doing much better,he is eating like crazy today he has eaten 5 ham sandwiches,he is talking much clearer. He has lost a lot of hair so today we shaved it all off, I was going to do the same thing but my drivers liscence shows me with long hair so I do not want any problems at airport. We moved to a diffrent apt. yesterday and he seems to be having no reactions to anything anymore which has made Gina and I very happy. We should be done and leaving Calif.on the 21st. of January. We wish you all a safe and Happy New Year

Doc you are probably right but I would have to assume with all the political knee jerk over reaction to not offending any one that is why it ends on 00:01 on 12/26. Sure I would like to listen to it till then but in the same token since all the stores start there Christmas season before Halloween its time to start Valentines Day or whatever. So Merry Christams enjoy it while it lasts .

Dear Family and Friends, California is beautiful, but this has been the hardest month we have had yet. I guess I have kinda sugar coated what has really been going on. Jimboy had a severe reaction. We are still trying to figure it out. I did not want to worry anyone, so I kept it to myself. This was probably the most scared I have been throughout. I guess being alone in CA made it more difficult. He was having serious seizures, and we could not get them under control. He was given Topamax (anti-seizure) which has several severe side effects, which I found out later. He lost his ability to speak, swallow and some motor issues. It has been very scary to get through. The question was whether he had a stroke - no. When he had a severe reaction as it got into his system (takes 2 weeks to fully be at a therapeutic level) we quickly stopped. Now two weeks to get it out, but the side effects already had taken place and no one could tell me if they would be permanent. Every day was harder and harder. So Friday we came home and he still could not speak or swallow water so basically I was force feeding him water. My parents arrived on Saturday with Emma, and I could tell by there faces that his condition really worried and scared them. He was in really rough shape. Then the rash on his face started to reappear, and again, he was having a reaction - to the couches. They are rentals, so God knows what they treat them with. We had them change them the last time we thought he reacted to them. So needless to say, this poor child has been run through the mill. I just want to cry for him. He could understand everything I was telling him, but could not speak back. He has a very long road ahead with therapy. He continues to smile through it all, which amazes me - but then again when hasn't he amazed me. He is a true bright light. Even the nurses at the hospital (as usual) could not get over how much strength and love he has in his eyes. He doesn't even need to speak to them and they see it. So I apologize that I have not explained this all, but I have been a little overwhelmed and scared. I am happy to report that tonight there is much more speech and he is able to swallow better. I am just taking it one step at a time (at least trying to) and helping get back on track. As of today, we have had eight treatments with about 27 more to go. Casey, Victoria, Amanda, Jaime and big Jim are all flying out on Friday and me, my parents, jimboy and emma will be meeting them in Anaheim at Disney. I can't wait to see my kids and Jim. They will fly home on the 22nd in time to go get Jessica for Christmas break. I am so sad not to see her, but I will in time. Words cannot even say a big enough thank you to Theresa Reda, The Somers Schools Staff, The Somers Italian American Club, Friends of Karen and the countless numbers of people and donations that has made this trip for my children possible. We live in a very special town and area, and I am so proud and honored to be a part of it. I say all the time how thankful I am to have so many loving, caring and special people in my life. You are all the best. We could not do this without you. Jimboy is very special to have you all praying for him. He is a special young boy, and we love you all for your support. The pain that we are all feeling is unspeakable. I know you all wish you could take it away, I know you cannot but just having you there has made it all bearable. Thank you, thank God for you. I cannot even express my thanks enough. I am trying desperately to keep up with the thanks. Please, tell someone you love them today, smile at a stranger and thank God for your every moment with friends, family, health and the greatest of all Love. Know that I am praying for each and every one of you, as I know you continue to pray for Jimmyboy. My little angel is going to get through this. I took this picture in the hospital when he was feeling better on Friday. Isn't he beautiful. What a little angel. I love him so very much, I miss my girls and look forward to a day when calmness is my routine. Until then, please keep praying, loving and enjoying your wonderful life with family and friends. I love you and kiss your kids for me. God Bless You and Your Family Today and Always, Love Gina & Jimboy
