aaaaaa... Josh,??? we never actually lifted the train before the vic. was removed.... the cribbing and bags were in place and if the paramedic wanted it raised, we were going to try... after he was removed and everyone was out from under the train, we did raise the front about 2 inches.... just to see if we could... The cow catcher was never bent for us to remove him, that is the way they are designed... After this incident, we have asked Metro North Officials to do some training there and for them to get some specialized bottle jacks, ( and other tools ) which can be stored with the fire bargade, so in the future if they are needed by us, it can be on hand... but that is just a dream by us...

I do not know the area, but couldn't of help come from the other shore ??? it appears to be 10 feet from the girls.... and the water looks allot calmer... or does the picture not show the vertical cliffs just on the other side ?

according to the infor we got from the article, it seems that the FD discontinued the water rescues, training and maintenance of equipment... so from this I believe they had members that were training and operating at " Tech " levels..... you would assume.... so, because the FD can not get money ( over time for on going training ) those members that were trained to " Tech " level, are not allowed to perform rescues they were trained for ??? this is what I have the problem with.... IF... they were, in deed, " Tech " level trained, then the agreement for sending untrained FD members is out the door.... we can only assume what is what... and if this is the case, knowning that the FD would not be doing water rescues, was a plan and policy in place to call in another agency who could handle the job... in Croton, we do not have " trained " members, so with any Water type rescue, Yorktown's team is call in right away.... it just seems like someone is taking their ball and going home...

ok, so here is a stupid question.... when was the last time the FD members trained in this rescue ???? years ? months or weeks ago ? and what was wrong with the equipment ???? was it outdated or not inspected this year? it seems lame to me if budget cuts were from this year and everything stops as of NOW.... so I guess the training they had only stays with them for a limited time... Don't get me wrong, you need to training every day, to keep up the skills you have learned, but this was a guys life.... come on... But then again,it might have been a policy for years and no one has a clue on this type of rescue, and I would understand... kinda...

Maybe I missed it, but how much water does it carry ?

I agree with you 100%, from the pictures here, Scarsdale's addition is NOT Architectually pleasing to the eyes...They really took away from the old building. I hope it is at least functional inside for all..

2 questions... 1.) why does R 1 have a license plate and none of the other do ? 2.) what brain surgeon installed it below the bumper ?

Maybe so, but bottom line, they were brought in to assist in specing out the truck, they were paid to do a task, and it failed.... did they mention in their " report " that there might be an issue with fitting in the firehouse... if your a professional, then act like one, stand behind your work, give back the fee.... my opinion.
-
sounds like the ALF from our town...lol
-
I hope the apparatus consultants are going to give back their fee to help cover the repairs needed to the firehouse .... Its time someone be held accountable for their actions...

aaaaaaa that's why they are called American LaJunk ...

question... on half of the rigs, behind the drivers door and in front of the crew door, there is a window, and in some cases the windows are half metal... why ?? what are they ?
-
will anyone be taking pictures ? and when may we see then ?

This would make allot of sense, as half the time I think I am hearing " TWO TREE TREE TWO "

I agree with you 100% Johnny... when operating a pump, if you can not be touching the lines, seeing them allows you to keep a "eye" on things.... maybe its just old school, I just find it better... and once things are set up, and everyone has drifted away from the engine, an operator can just sit back a watch...

according to the news, she ran away and hid in a near by barn.... she went with food and blankets.... so sad she had to do that, I hope she gets over what ever pushed her in that direction...

Jack, After a couple of fires we were at in Peekskill, that dealt with water main issues, we approached the chiefs ( then water dept. ) to get some information on our water main sizes and pressures, and were told that they did not have anything down firm yet.... The water dept. has been working on improving our main system and trying to loop the lines as much as possible, but to date we can not get anything... The last I heard, Car 2082 was working on getting this established for us... but we are still behind Ossining's colored system ( and other towns and cities that have it ) but hopefully one day we will know... Thanks for you advise.

hmmm, in Croton we have " reflective white " only... its always a guessing game.
