  1. Yes... there are controls inside the cab for the driver and on rear wall.
  2. figure us being there until the 6th, then 2 weeks for any corrections... 2 weeks in Excelsiors.... so maybe mid july...
  3. Nope.... only to fill.
  4. thanks for the laugh... nicely done...
  5. Tanker 10eng, on 07 May 2012 - 11:10 PM, said: " The county's Rescue Team has a division of water rescue tech's and are willing to go anywhere... .." A swift water team, not a dive team as FDNY41 was looking for. actually Barry, I have reread this whole thread and no where does FDNY41 say a dive team.... correct me if I am wrong... He does mention a Scuba water rescue team.... that opens the door for many different aspects of water rescue... ( Dive, swift and basic water rescue )
  6. The county's Rescue Team has a division of water rescue tech's and are willing to go anywhere... One of the nice features of the County team is that it is made up of many different members from departments around Westchester ( fire and EMS ). So like last year in Ossining, 4 minutes after the team was dispatched 2 members of the team were on the scene and assisted Ossining in starting the rescue... Yes it would be great to have certain departments organized special teams, but the cost, manpower needs and time requirements adds on members... In my eyes the County's Team is a step in the right direction.
  7. Coming soon to DPW workers everywhere, helmets and safety belts... I hope he pulls out of this, my wishes to him and his family...
  8. Yes, EPDM is strong, but it looks like the structure dropped, and did not collapse 100%... they were really lucky...
  9. how much money do you have ? ...
  10. What equipment is in the elements ?
  11. I would agree with this whole approach.... The sub divison / builder would be resonsible to install these, not the taxpayers... I for one do not want to be paying more taxes for the super homes in the outer districts. They elected to build there, they should handle those costs. That is my main problem with the whole idea..
  12. Barry, I was not referring to the $ 400 - 600 K homes, but more so those massive house that have burned to the ground in the northern ends... They are the ones that could truly benefit from it.. As for installing them in the tanker districts ??? ok, who owns the land they are installed on ? What is the yearly costs for maintenance ? There are many lakes, ponds, streams and rivers in our area would be better choices... yes these underground tanks are great, but not for everyone.. We just need to pre plan and figure out tanker fill sites. In our Tanker districts, we have many locations to refill tankers, and at no cost to taxpayers.
  13. I think it would be more of a home owner then a town or FD to install. I have wondered many times why these million dollar homes in the NO HYDRANT districts, do not have them near the main house... or even a development with poor water supply using them... but if I was the chief, I would not be going to my town with the request to install some...
  14. dude a 14" Diameter dump chute ??? wow, is that on the rear, sides or both ?
  15. love the round dump chutes, anyone know the sizes...
  16. it looks like the attack RV from Stripes...
  17. What I would like to know and maybe a senior member from South Salem might know.. Back when the house burned down in 1981, did you have issues with water then ? and over the years, was anything done to improve the water issues here ? and I am NOT pointing a finger, just to the Town or FD, but more so the home owner... When they rebuilt the house, did they do anything to allow for an engine to get to the pond/lake ? To many time people think, well that will never happen again... maybe its me, but if I were rebuilding there, I would add means to assist the fire dept. To many times owners and builders do not think of these issues...
  18. I do not see a problem here if we are all on the same page... example of this was a call at the Monrose VA, Croton was dispatched for FAST... I was at work, less then a minute from the VA, our FAST engine was 9 minutes away in the opposite direction, so I responded to the scene... I did call a team member heading to the FH and told them I was responding to the scene... I geared up, went to the IC and started learning what was going on, who was inside, did a quick 360 and started setting up the FAST team with the VA's RIT pack, along with a second CFD member who showed up.. So in some cases going to the scene in a POV can work, as long as the Team and rig, ( and the hosting IC ) know your going to meet them there. Being that my office is in another fire district, I have responded to some of their " true " calls and have assisted. BUT, this only happens after I have asked the Chiefs if it is ok to show up before hand, and I report to the officer on the scene and I do as told... I am there to assist them, to work for them and not as a freelancer. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, THERE ARE MANY WHO DO FREE LANCE WHO NEED TO BE CONTROLLED
  19. the really sad thing is, these idiots will probably sue the FDNY and get thousands...
  20. Question ??.... the Chevons match the Croton PD's colors... I thought they had to be a certain color scheme, and that was NOT a choice... is that just for NFPA guidelines ??? and if that is the case, why are they NOT the same ??
  21. thats great, but give us some infor.... does it run ? where will it be kept ? will it be owned by Montrose or a local private owner ??? bottom line, good luck with it...
  22. Personally I like my knife strapped to my left boot on the inside of the leg... this way when on the floor crawling around, in smokey conditions, its a matter of inches from my right hand... It has a handle of about 4 inches and the blade is close to 6 inches long, with a blunt tip... I have used mine for breaking into homes ( on calls ), cutting seat belt straps, cutting ropes atached to me during drills, and other duties I never thought of... It save my a** a number of time when diving, and it has helped in the firefighting service...
