Nice looking rig and good luck to those who will use it, BUT I hope it never gets used..

Nice looking rig... From the pictures I saw, I would recommend you keep an eye on the defroster... Croton's T 10 appears to have the same set up ( 1 center diffuser vent ) and during last winter while handling several runs, we had big issues with the windshield fogging up... Right now Seagrave is still looking into it, and they have a few months to figure it out, but I would keep it in mind and check yours...

question, if I remember right this was Millwood's old tanker right ?? how did the off load the water ? was it with a plastic pipe ???
-
that is a sweet looking rig..... would love to see more pictures....

yes 4093, thats it... boy it looked allot nice yesterday... never mind, I was wrong, same car... I must be loosing it...
-
what model is that ??? I thought I saw one in White Plains today, and the White Plains unit looked really nice, a bit different then this one...

If wires come down in my town, and they are still energized, yes I will sit there and wait for Con Edison to show up and handle the problem.. why, ??? because I am doing what I can to protect my friends and neighbors... as soon as Con Ed is on the scene, it's theirs and we go... We do not stay there and direct traffic for them while they fix the problem... so why should it be any differnt down there ??? Yes, if called on I will gladly go down there or anywhere else to cover their fire dept. in a time of need, but I will not go there to direct traffic... Is NYSEG offering them the wages that would be paid to the normal flaggers ? I don't think so... Question then, would you see the Peekskill Police ( just picked them out of a hat, nothing personal ) send guys down there to do that and NOT get paid ??? I don't think so.. Anyone who thinks that volunteer fire/police should go do there and do it, please step to the front of the line and go there ( for free ) and do the job they are asking volunteers to do. There are plenty of PD and paid FD guys here, please lead the way and set an example...

question to those who went down, what is the process for fueling up the rigs ??? do the local depts have a means up and running ?

Hey all, we have a few older pieces of equipment laying around the fire house and I believe I can put together somthing for Tanker 10 to assist in bring water from a lake to the fill site engine. But I need a 5 inch storz to 6 inch male thread adapter. I do not want the Village to purchase this item if it does not work, so I am reaching out the the members here. If you have one and its not being used everyday, I would like to borrow it for a few days to test out the idea... I will gladly travel to pick it up and return it to you... anyone ??? ( willing to leave my son Ryan as collateral )

as stated by my senior, I'm a " dumb a**.. " ( 1750 -1500 )...what ever it takes.. lol... its a tanker.
-
always wanted to put out a car fire with a side chute .... came close, but not yet..
-
Great looking ship, good luck to all thoses who crew it.. a question ? the Storz connection off the back deck ? is that a suction or discharge ?
-
naaaa... our new tanker is a Tanker... not a pumper / tanker. It does have a 1750 gpm pump on it, but that is because we have been doing allot more with nurse operations at structure fires ( depending on the site conditions, and the volume of fire ). Aside from that, the only hose we carry is for filling operations...All the equipment it carries is to do tanker operations - or - a car fire...

Maybe our Chief ( 2081 ) will tell us more later today, but when I talked to him about it last night, he was not apart of the planning, or had the Village informed him of just what is going to happen if something did come up... Truthfully, it does not suprise me, the CFD is always the last to know...we are all told we need to be NIMS trained so that all agencies can work together, but I can personally list 4 - 6 calls in the last 4 years were all that training was not put to good use...

Good god who was the brain trust that agreed to this.. So at 9 am, Croton FD gets dispatched to a working structure fire on Teatown Road, in our outer district which we have to go on route 9 into Ossining to get to... Or A Mutual aid call with the Tanker to Millwood's or Yorktowns outer area... how do we get there ??? Quaker Bridge is not rated for all but one Croton rig, and the Croton Dam is still closed to all traffic... Oh sorry Mrs. Jones, it took use 45 minutes to get there because the roads were shut down for a road race... I hope the PD agencies or who every is planning this out have a plan to get emergency equipment through there if needed, because as of tonight, CFD knows nothing, great inter agency work here...

why not a wetdown / Christmas party ???
-
wait, you mean paint it green/yellow ??

When we were out at Seagrave doing the final inspection on our Tanker, they were working on the P'ville Ladder and according to the guys doing the work, the thing was working like a champ, and drove perfectly. I have to admit it was wierd being so far from home and seeing local rigs...

Our engine 119 has a Detriot in it, but our new T 10 has a Cummins.... just from the test drive of the tanker at the plant, I like the Cummins better... But once we have it in house I will be able to comment more... I think in the end, it will be like some like Fords, some like Chevy.

good reasoning ffd60, from your answer and the picture that makes sense. I was really afraid some guys are out there looking to hose a car and this was a case of it. I know guys from my own dept. that would love to do something like that to be able to take a picture of it.. Some times there is no way around it, but if we just look at things before charging a line, a few extta seconds will make it better for everyone. Thanks for the reply.

was there really a need to over the Crown Vic ? or were we try to say something ?

The diamond plate boxes on the sides are for the drafting ponds, they are the carriers or holders. Once we lower them, the ponds can be removed and then put back up into the storage position. We carry 2 - 3500 ponds on our tanker.

hey 4093, that was a great MA call... we got to bunk with some good guys, had our choice of maybe 75 couches and got to run out on a call in over night hours... One tanker is enough.... although I LOVED that old girl, the new one will be used well...
-
actually Croton is keeping the old tanker, but the FD will not be using her... The cab and frame will be cleared of the FD body and the DPW will be installing a swap lift system to it so that it can be used as a dump truck, dumpster truck or what ever they need. Originally the DPW wa putting in for a new truck, so when the issue of the Village getting a new tanker came up, the DPW pulled the new truck for our old cab and chassis. Personally I think it was a great idea, as what we would get $ 5,000 like we got for the old E119...
