This is asinine! This could have happened with the same people in a school, or a business or anywhere else, use your head! Think out of the box, SEXUAL ASSAULT and RAPE (same thing in my book) happens everywhere. A comment like this is just as immature as the way you view what happened, no matter what age. Besides its not your duty to think what happened and comment on it. To NUTTY: Defiantly do not comment on the situation, don't get involved in any further discussion OK. Let the officers, PD and lawyers handle the situation, which I know you already know. EDIT: 2/15 @ 20:26 Just remember everyone, this person has been accused of this crime, he may or may not have committed this nor is it our duty here to serve as the jury, we do not know the whole story. We must be careful of our posts and comments remember the victim and the accused may be looking at this site. Let the authorities handle the matter.

Time and time again we have to ask why don't we make bail out kits standard. I think we as firefighters and officers should DO IT OURSELVES and make them standards. If NFPA, OSHA and all the rest of the government hoopla are going to drag their feet, time for use to make them do it. I'm getting tired of hearing these close calls and seen guys and galls getting seriously hurt.

I do believe in live fire training and no fire training at a house or building as long as it can be controlled properly for trained personnel. Even that can be dangerous of course, but I don't think that this should be done during probie class or even FF-I. These classes in my opinion should be done at a burn building either with controlled fires (propane) and also old furniture and other class A products to get the heat. I trained at New Haven, Fairfield and the old Derby fire schools and got used to refining my tactics there. My department has gotten old buildings but we never burned them, we always burned at one of the schools.

BRING BACK THE OLD BUBBLEGUM MACHINES!!!!! LOL I still haven't heard anything on the Smeal's yet, I think more towards the spring they should be in North Haven.

LOL 50, 23 or 44 tonight?
-
Oh GREAT!!! Guess I'm gonna have to work hard in the AM during rush-hour. Though I could sleep tonight! lol

Damn, I've been using old 35mm canisters for stuff for ever, both at home and for fire / ems. A great little thing for camping too, keeps you matches dry.

x152, I was using the big five as a the closest example to bes describe the situation thats all, not comparing them.

The MTA Police only has jurisdiction over their property through the northeast corridor / CT region. Yes they can stop someone but only if the perp is doing something to their property or trespassing. They do not have any authority over the state highways in CT or local jurisdictions. They do however have the duty to act in any town / city / state they are traveling in and must contact the agency that covers that particular area. The same with Amtrack PD. Usually if something is going on the local PD and / or CSP is contacted first and then MTA is contacted through their offices in New Haven and Stamford.

The body heals in mysterious ways. Glad he has a second chance at life.

Do you all think its time that an agency like the NFPA be transformed from a "guidelines" type of agency to something that sets a national standard for all fire department equipment and such? I'm getting tired of these shortcuts by the feds and not adopting standards.

Our town had to go to a paid day crew about 10 years ago with volunteers over night. Its getting to the point were it might have to go 6a to 12a now, too many calls. I agree also. This is what happens when people call 911 for every type of "emergency" (simple boo-boos to the massive heart) The EMS system in the nation is getting too overloaded.

OK so there is no confusion, Prince George's County Fire Department in Maryland is technically a combination department. All the stations in the county are local volunteer fire companies and career personnel are supplemented by the county. There are only four or five stations that are all volunteer and the career personnel located at volunteer stations are sometimes considered "career members". If anyone here is familiar with Stamford's Big Five departments, it is technically the same idea on career staffing volunteer fire departments.

I'm going up for the B's / NYR game in March so I'll make sure I'll swing by Purchase Street. It really cool that you can see the station for the opposite side of the street without I-93 there anymore! lol

AP is reporting that Anna Nicole Smith has died after collapsing at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel near Hollywood, Florida. No word on how she has died.

Boston Rescue 1 is a walk in / through to the cab. Firefighters up front, mostly equipment in the rear. Also Boston's rescues all have white roofs, this is the first one to have white top-sides on the box.

The Med Examiner just released some preliminary findings, no foul play or any indication of an OD, nothing unusual found in the stomach. They are going to the next phase for toxicology reports.

Technically it is really not that big of a city, yes it is the largest New England city but far smaller than the metropolitan areas like NYC, Chicago, Philly, Atlanta, Phoenix, LA, San Diego and such. They rotate their apparatus out too to slower companies as well and only make few purchases a year, no massive orders, usually two to five pumpers and two to three ladders a cycle. But they do have a much older fleet with a lot of mid 90's E-Ones in the fleet running first line.
-
Two things... One - Anna Thanks for the mammories!!! (to be taken light-hearted of course!) Two - The front page of the NY Post states and I quote: WAS IT MURDER? Seems Old Howard K cannot be found right now. Hmmmmmmmm.
-
Sounds like an OD for sure. FOXNEWS was saying something about here possibly on methadone but she was definitely on something for a long time as we all know.

According to some posts from the NewEnglandEMTBravo.com site, Boston's new rescue is a walk in, I don't know if it has walk-trough access from box to cab though. It will replace the current Rescue 1 (the E-One) at Fire Headquarters *125 Purchase Street) along with E-10 and Tower 3 (old designation was Tower Unit). The current Rescue 1 (the E-one rig) will become the spare for the department. Boston runs two heavy rescues. Rescue 2 is at Engine 42 which is at 1870 Columbus Avenue in Roxbury. It should have all the same rescue equipment as the old truck. As for added equipment, I asked a question and waiting a reply. Boston does have separate rigs for Hazmat and the Dive team as well. A Rescue company in Boston along with the tower ladder and marine companies run with one officer and four firefighters per shift, never running at minimum. Engines and ladder can run with a minimum staffing of one officer and three firefighters.
