MTACOP, you know that makes sense and because it does, they wont do it. All joking aside though, that would be the best thing for the TZ especially for the traffic that goes over it and when there is something, major or minor, you have the "bridge brigade" first in and have Central Nyack and Tarrytown backing them up with additional resources. They definitely need to replace the bridge sooner than later.

Seth and Kris, Best of luck and health to you both as you start your journey together into the future! Joe

I was on Firehouse.com today and their new poll question was about seatbelts on the officer and driver positions getting caught up in the door and getting damaged. My company's new pumper has the new 911 Seats with the integrated seatbelts. A few times after taking them off (while driving the rig) I have experienced the seatbelt not retracting back, just like my personal vehicle. Also too, with the location of the buckle when retracted, the position of the pin on the seat has chipped the paint of the driver's side door along the inside window frame. I really think that NFPA and the industry has to rethink apparatus seatbelts again and come up with a better solution, not just for keeping it out of the way from being damaged but also for safety reasons. I really don't like the design of the integrated seatbelt with the seat (thinking worse case scenario the seat lets got and now your being thrown around with you strapped into the seat along with a SCBA in the backrest.) What do you all think?

They had an ALF pumper at 34's in Hells Kitchen for a while and now its on Governors Island (I believe). It did ok but I don;t think it lasted the rigors of the city. We'll have to ask the FDNY members here about them. I would be surprised if the new rescues were Ferraras or even a Seagrave chassis with either a Marion or Rescue 1 body. But I'm only speculating.

Stamford's system you need to program the channels in the exact number slot in the program. If you split the system into two separate you need to make sure that th channel number is in the same numbered slot otherwise it wont work. Do you have ARC's program for the scanner, if so I can send you the file so you can see what I mean.

Though we do not have any poles in my station, I have slid down a couple for fun. But I understand the fear, I am not afraid of heights but I had an accident when I was working for the phone company when I was climbing a pole and cut out after I was strapped in, kissing it all the way down and I got cut up pretty good. After that I had some fears about even going up a step ladder but it took time for me to get over it. We did a stand by in another ton where their house had a pole and I couldn't go down it. I eventually got over the fear cause by my accident. Some people never get over it and that is ok. Take the stairs if you don't feel comfortable going down the pole of even like it was said before use a step ladder and go up small increments and when you get comfortable, go up a little higher.

Who else watched the Soprano's tonight and saw the ending? I thought the show was good but the ending really leaves you in suspense with what happened to Tony. The only thing I can think of is how this episode began with Tony and Baccala talking with Baccala saying "I wonder what its like. You must not see it comming." With this said I can make sense of the ending, but did it really end that way. What do you all think?

"THANK YOU, COME AGAIN!"

I used to go over that bridge a lot when my ex lived in Valley Cottage and also visit family in Delaware County. They need something on BOTH sides of the bridge in my opinion and have them cover from the "split" in Westchester to The Nyack / West Nyack line. This is my opinion. Get two foam pumpers and have one on each side of the bridge equipped like the GWB's unit. I just seems when it rains it pours on the TZB. Hopefully they will fix the problem.

The must be replacing the old 1986 Hahns and making 4's Pierce a spare. I'm only speculating.

Go to CFA's website and they should have a list of CPAT dates listed for 2007. Also you should have received with your CPAT information directions to the Meriden location and they are also posted on CFA's website and also the CT fire prevention website. They usually run one or two a month during the warm weather but they cancel them also and reassign the date depending on weather conditions also. Use this link http://www.ct.gov/cfpc/cwp/view.asp?a=826&Q=246722 it has the links for signing up and information. To every one who takes the CT CPAT - Make sure you read all the instructions when you download or get the the application from any department you test with. They may or may not include the CPAT info and rely on you to make your appointment if it is not included with their packets. Xfirefighter484x I feel you on this one, if you get into a jam or need any info, let me know.

Hopefully you went to the CPAT site in Meriden off the Berlin Turnpike and didn't head up to Windsor Locks. Sometimes people get confused with the CPAT center which is run by the CTFA. Hopefully you passed the test and good luck!!

Didn't Seagrave also have a transport cab for a rescue a few year back? I thouhg it was in hunter green. ------------------------------------------------- Disregard, the link above answered my question.

And to add, since I work up at C-MED New Haven (South Central) We get the diversion and also a confirmation from the receiving hospital they area accepting the diversion. Upon this, all first responder and EMS dispatch centers along with commercial ambulance services in our area are notified of the diversion. Any service we do direct dispatch to is announced over the air and if the have alpha pagers, the message is sent over them as well. We also announce the diversion on MED 10 to all units working in the field and also give them a friendly reminder as well when responding in the area of the hospital that is on diversion.

I have the 5th edition and it does mention in that op guide about the Squad's responses ans and Engine or a Squad.

If you take pictured of an accident scene for such purposes you need to make sure that the patient's face in either masked out or is not shown. As first responders we must remember the patient's right to privacy, which we area all taught in our CPR / MRT / EMT / Medic classes. Also too taking pictures while you area responding as a first responder and care giver is a no no in my opinion. If I go and snap some shots as a "lay person" or even as a news photographer is one thing. So is taking a couple of shot of the accident scene for the purpose of showing the hospital personnel how bad the accident was, showing damage to the car to help determine injuries as well. But when you take photos and publish them in any media sort then you have to watch out for violations and also to if there are rules outlined against this by you corps, fire department or employer, you need to follow them. Its sad that he may lose his license because of this but he has to live with his choice.
