  1. May be it was thirsty, Florida does get hot during the afternoon.
  2. By the article it said that the electrical system had a short and the lights then turned on. I don't known if this meant the truck was one or the batteries were on. I bet you the truck was in neutral and the parking break was not set and looking at the picture, the ramp does have a slight incline back into the station. I'm just guessing.
  3. I was just going to ask the same thing about R-3's '79 Mack.
  4. Hate to say it, but with the way it is painted white with a red stripe, it looks like a Suburban Propane truck at a quick glance.
  5. Are you in college yet??? Five beers did me good!! Seriouslt, what do you need help with? I'm not really following your question.
  6. Ummmm believe it or not there was an incident in the town next to me where the former chief, well call him "Pa", said that same quote "Have you ever seen a dead cat in a tree?" and within a day or two there it was, the same stuck cat dead in the tree. Ecky, have you heard this story about "Pa"????? You should know who I'm talking about. At least this is how it was told to me.
  7. I posted in a previous topic that the BFD did a turnout gear study back in the later 1990's, I wanna say back in 1997 to be exact. As the Globe's articles said, the BFD was looking into "lighter" gear, gear that would reduce the amount of stress on a firefighters' physical condition, to cut down on the number of hypertensive heart and heart attack issues. They had it set up to the best of my knowledge that they could wear full turnouts for structural attack or 3/4 boots and long coats for outside truck work (just to be brief, there were more specific outlines for this). I couldn't believe the article when I saw it when the BFD upper ranks were charged with buying inferior PPE. The Bristol gear the BFD used was great gear, some of the departments around me actually followed similar specs and that gear provided NFPA compliant protection. Sad to see this charge but you have to protect the troops. Seems to be time for a new study since its been more than 10 years they conducted the last one.
  8. WHAT A GAME!!!!! 4 1/2 NOW!
  9. I check it most of the time but I believe that you should still post a message on all the forum boards for updates and new pictures. Also wasn't there a question in one topic about the user galleries? Maybe the galleries should be connected there as well. I got a couple of ideas if you would like me to PM you Seth.
  10. My volunteer department had five Class A engines. Our ladder company operates a 95 ft tower ladder with out a pump and also a class A engine. (each company has an engine) The career department that I work for now has a quint tower ladder. We do mutual aid with the neighboring towns and many areas do not have hydrants and drafting is necessary. I'm new there so I'm on a big learning curve right now with the truck.
  11. I thought there might have been another fire company called Mohegan Lake somewhere.
  12. AHHHHHH Another!!!
  13. Most radio shows in this area are syndications and broadcasted through out the country and run click tapes, no real DJs. I know WPLR, WCCC and a couple others in the New Haven / Hartford area mentioned it.
  14. I was at home sleeping when the first plane hit and my grandmother called my house waking up my sister to let us know what happened. My sister woke me up and I headed into the living room to watch what had happened. I was originally planing to head down to NYC that day and take off from work to hang with a friend of mine who worked on Wall St. at the time. As I watch the second plane hit, I immediately knew we were under attack. My C-MED pager went off about the crashes and I called in to see if they wanted me to come in. The first tower collapsed before I left home and I rushed into New Haven to work. I was told there was a rumor that some casualties were going to come up as far as New Haven aboard trains to the local hospitals which was not confirmed and did not happen. While at work, the second tower collapsed. I worked until 11:30 pm at C-MED that night.
  15. As one of my shirts says, "I guess there never was a curse....They only sucked for 83 years."
  16. Wow! New 22-99 looks like a tight fit in their house when it was backing into the barn or does it have ample space. I really couldn't tell by the video. Awesome looking truck too! Love that deep dark red paint job.
  17. Holy frosting Jonsey!!!!! Happy 1st B-Day!!!
  18. Again, I don't know why but I went over to thewatchdesk.com forums again to day to see what mudslinging is going on there now. Talk about a free-for-all in the majority of the threads and the bashing to say the leasts. Its amazing how a bunch of pos(t)ers that can't show their faces and duke it out face to face like real people or even just try to give another an ounce of respect besides that!. Unreal, talk about a site with the greatest intentions go bad and has no moderation at all. Just an rant from me nothing else but my opinion is a site like that has to go because it only makes all of us look bad and childish. Izzy
  19. This is just another reminder to not become or create a statistic, Slow Down no matter what you area driving to a run.
  20. Its controlling people just like we would do at a fire scene with our own personnel. Trouble is that too many people want to help and just end up "free-lancing" and there is no accountability. I agree with it and yes people should be certified to do so.
  21. I may or may not be there. Our LT decided to get married on the same day. Thank God elections are in February! If I'm there, I may be there early with our 1981 ALF which we just purchased as our muster piece.
  22. You blasphemous wretched ALS!!! YOU GOT ME!!!!!! LOL Next thing your going to tell me you don't like water with malt barley and hops also! LOL

  24. For those who are not familiar with this case Adrian Peeler was convicted for killing an 8 year old boy who saw him kill another person. Earl King sold drugs and did other things for this gang and went to jail. There is a long going argument how he got hired with his felony record and Bridgeport's hiring process. There is a whole archive of article on the Connecticut Post website if anyone wants to read up on it.
