That would make sense then.

I understand that Mike but the ad states the truck has "booster equipment" which would make me believe there was a tank on it. I'm just wondering why Fairview called it a quad.

But you can't compare armature radio where you are trying to DX another station and "closed systems" where you are trying to stay local. The problem is everyone thinks that going to a trunking system where you have a set of frequencies (repeater ins and repeater outs) a computer controller and a XXX number of "groups" and users and making a great huge system. Of course its bound to fail because your already overloading the trunk system. Trunking basically cuts down the number of frequency pairs instead of using a number of "channels" (simplex or repeated). It just seems by what I have read it already overloaded and bound to give users the "bonk" tone when they try to transmit. Radio system planners have to realize that re-inventing the wheel doesn;t have to happen. That's the end of my rant.

A friend of mine is on Engine 5 (i think he's still there), I'll find out during the next few days. I don;t think they took delivery of it yet. It should be designated Ladder 2 and the current Saulsbury / LTI should become Ladder 1 (spare)

Why did they call it a quad when it looks like a quint?

It good to see that a dispatcher is being praised for their work and quick mind in an emergency situation! Kudos to Tracy!
-
If they get in, Pete Rose should be in!!!!!
-
I though the report said both drivers were ok, and he didn't leave the scene.
-
Nothing is wrong with it.

That doesn't sound right, not saying that it didn't happen. But funeral processions still have yield the right of way to emergency apparatus with warning devices on.
-
In CT, funeral processions have the right of way through intersection and should have a police escort if available. A lot of funeral homes in CT have the purple flashing lights installed and or use the purple flags to denote which POVs are in the procession, along with hazard flashers and headlights / hi-beam lights on.

Monty, we used to carry more three inch dead lays and five inch supply with our old truck due to some long lays in on section of our first due district and the highway. I'm just very used to having a lot of hose on a truck.

Looks like Nichols Station One and Long Hill Station 3 area battling again this year! LOL Seriously though, they guys down in Trumbull do a great job decorating their houses every Christmas.

Since we have a rescue engine, our stock is a little lower but pretty much kept to the standards. Front bumper - - 1/2" discharge gated with a wye. 100 ft of 1-3/4 preconnected hose to the wye, 50 feet dead lay of 1-3/4" under the preconnect. Crosslays Two 1-3/4" crosslays with 250 feet of hose One 2-1/2" cross lay with 250 feet of hose Rear bed 1500 feet of 5" supply line 600 feet of of 3" in supply hose (hydrant to truck dead-lay) 500 feet of 3" feeder / attack hose One high-rise pack with 100 feet of 1-3/4 and a separate pack with 100 feet of 2-1/2.

Hey all, I had posted this orignally as a joke in the Commercial vs. Custom apparatus topics as a joke. and Snotty replied: Why is this the case? We as firefighters operated under NFPA and OSHA standards / recommendations but what to garbage haulers fall under and can still ride the rear step. Any clue?

My department used to be two engines, the ladder and our rescue-squad but have recently changed "box" assignments to 3, 1 & 1. Our second alarm brings the two other engine sin my city (we have 5) to the scene and a mutual aid truck. As for higher its usually 1 & 1 unless there is a need for special requests of other apparatus.

Yah in the photo I'll agree but in person the white is sharp!

Old L-13 after it was removed from service was acting Ladder 7 in Ansonia, CT while our old ladder truck was OOS. This was about 4 or 5 years ago.

My vollie deptarment issued us new Cairnes gear, similar in style to a Morning Pride specification. I like it, its confortable, you can still "feel" heat so you know if your too far in, its not bulky and its lightweight. I have tried Morning Pride, Janesville / Lion and also Bristol which I think are very good as well. (Plus it has to be black!!! )

ONEEYEDMIC, I give you guys all the credit in the world for dealing with an incident like this or smaller. When I worked for CSP as a dispatcher is when I learned about how to handle situations like this from the troopers and brass I worked with. Just like in the fire serivice or EMS, always in twos.

Maybe they meant Captain???

Crimson was formed by Spartan Motors when they purchased Quality Fire Apparatus (ala Ranger) in Florida and Luverne (former maker of Chicago's pumpers) back in the late 90s / early 2000. As far as I know their aerial ladders and towers are made by RK Aerials but they may have a RK rep at their shop like Smeal used to have when they made all of Pierce's aerials before they terminated the co-op effort and Pierce began making aerial devices on their own. I'm absolutely not sure about this so if anyone knows a Crimson rep, try and find out if you can please. By what I have heard, Crimson does make a solid truck and many departments have been happy with them after the "custom kinks" were worked out.

This is the United States of America, people should remember where they came from and grow some sack! Heck there is a group out in Cali that I heard is trying to get "Ho! Ho! Ho!" band becaue of its "new" literal sense (Thanks Imus) COME ON, GET REAL! People in this country have really turned out to be a bunch of woosies. We were once feared by every nation that either kicked out, forced out, took out our ancestors and now we are the laughing stock of the world. Political correctness = a lame excuse for not giving someone respect.
