That is a cool picture of their old ladder. Looks like this one is a hand drawn unit, not horse drawn or did it double as a horse drawn? Any more info on the rig? Tower, I sent you a PM.

IT"S ALIVE!!!!!!! And working good too!

Nothing on the Smeal or NEFEA websites yet. I know is a rear mount on either a Spartan Gladiator a Smeal Sirus cab, black over red. I haven;t been down that way in a while, maybe I'll take a buff ride down tonight.

Each CSP car is unmarked and assigned to a trooper. When the trooper is "off duty" and are using the cruiser as his / her personal vehicle, the lightbar must be removed. Some troopers use their cruisers off duty others leave them parked at home. I don't believe that an officer's name should be on the side of the cruiser / patrol car, its just a problem maker.

Hey a question, E-45 (i think, short term memory failed me) has a pickture of Kermit the Frong on the front right side. Did at anytime with the Lime Mack, were they using the "It's not easy being green" quote? Just curious cause that is what crossed my mind when I saw it. I know, its late, I'm at work stuck in fire alarm overnight!!! LOL

Good looking rig! Hope all of you at QEC / NWFD have the best of luck with the new rig!

Very sad. My condolences to Sgt. Hein's family.

How about trying to get it to go up to the firemen's museum in Hudson or a local one? I never got to see this rig up close yet but I would sure like to ride on it once.

Nope that is not Bristol, CT. It is either Bristol New Hampshire or Maine. I forget who's numbering system it is. The 4 = deptartmetn number, L = Ladder and 1= unit number. It is an American LaFrance 1000 series and it has to be a late 60's / early 70's model. In 1973 the Century Series was introduced but they still produce the 1000 series until about 1976 - 1978 I beleive. Remember Century Series rigs had the rounded out edges behind the front doors for more room in the jumps. Mike, Ansonia's old Ladder 7 was a 1982 Century Series mid-mount and it was a true truck (no pump). Seth, too bad I'm at work protecting the largest casino in the world and just got to the computer!!!! LOL

You are only to post working fires, major mva's with extrication, Large Scale Hazmats, ect. This one got by, possible or reported structure fires are not to be posted until it is confirmed to be a worker. Just check out the rules in the IA forums what can and cannot be posted. Every once in a while we get one like this that slips by.

Man does the crap ever stop down there?????????? I know this is a media pipe dream coveing this turmoil and I wonder how the residents are viewing and feeling about tis terrible situation. Springdale's chief was totally wrong especially when the district made an agreement so long ago to have Engine 7 staffed with SFRD guys and located in thier house. Not for nothing, all the departments / companies / districts should all be operating on the same radio system, using a common dispatch and each with thier own operations channel, thus if you going to the cuty, you switch to their channel, TOR then to thiers and so forth. There should be MDTs in all of the rigs since they area dispatch by the same center also! Not to mention the need for fire personnel to grow up, take the blinders off and start working together. Stamford as of late seems to have a lot of problems and obviously thier are three sides to this story (theirs, theirs and the truth). Maybe Stamford should either create a town / city wide fire commission with all the districts having a represenative on it, chaired by an alderman and also have "at large" civilian representation. I'm looking from the outside in and have no clue about Stamford's politics and other dealings, my only knowledge is information read in the media and from people that I know who are from the area. It only seems the situation is going to get worse before there is a solution unfortunately.

No, they area not on the CSP trunk system. The operate on the CT DOT frequencies and are dispatched out of Bridgeport DOT HQ at Troop G for the 1-95 area. That is how they were dispatched when I left the state PD dispatch in May.

Happy B-Day Grumpy!

JB, you did the right thing. You were there for the sick kids in the hospital who were going to be stuck there on Christmas! They need the cheer an uplifting. That nurse should have known better, I mean if her nephew was a patient there then that's a totally different case. Don't feel like a scrooge and I know after the Autism comment you felt that guilt but comeon, you were there for those sick kids in the hospital to make them happier. She should not have asked for a free handout like that. That just puts people in a weird place.

I have an old 45's (a small speed record for all you youngins) which has Wink Martindale reciting the "Deck of Cards" from the early 1960's. As far as I know this story for lack of a better term that escapes me know, dates back to either the Vietnam Era or World War II, I'm not such which. Its a great rendition for those of faith.

"Chief 1 to Engine 1" "Engine 1" "Bring in an ax, a halligan, two dozen cookies and your own water bongs!" "10- puff puff pass"

NYCEMT I do agree but it should be public knowledge of the problems since the manufactures are publicly held companies and are funded by our tax dollars. Furthermore, the military has started placing into service the F-15's replacements as far as I know, I'll have to look at the Jane's manual again. For me being a full military supporter, I personally want to know that out boys and girls have the best equipment made and that if there are flaws I want to know about it. I understand full about this getting out to the enemy but I really don't believe they would announce this in public if they didn't have a plan or replacements in place in my opinion.

This was a hot topic on another site I belong to over here in CT. It is unbelievable that in this day and age when there is so much liability that "instructors" were not using their heads. I wounder even if anyone who was running the burn drill were even certified fire instructors in the State of CT. If they are, they are in a whole lot o' trouble. For those who are not familiar, Goshen is located in central Litchfield County near the towns of Torrington and Cornwall. For apparatus buffs they have the big blue Pierce Quantum.
