It should be a outside attorney. The city's corporation council should not be a mediator in these talks. The mediator should be a neutral party not affiliated whit either the city nor and of the other entities. The corporation council is there to represent the city's interest just as a union would retain separate council for their representation.

Hey if I'm not mistaken, people who lived in Red Hook way back when all called themselves "Hookers" or "Red Hookers" since they were talking about the neighborhood they lived in and grew up. I'll have to find the article about this I was reading a while back about NYC / Brooklyn neighborhoods and nicknames.

You know over here in CT our former governor Rowland was arrested for fraud and embezzlement. He was a republican and so was Mayor Giordano, the one having sex with kids. Both are arrogant and defiant. Hell look at Mayor Joe Ganim of Bridgeport, corruption charges and he was a democrat. Hey we are all entitled to our opinion but slamming a political party just because of one person's wrong doing is disrespectful weather you agree or disagree with their ideologies. Unfortunately some politicians are easy to corrupt and also like to hide things. That's why we vote for who we think is the best person for the job. If you don;t voite, then you have no right to complain. As for Spitzer, the "law guru", I can't see him staying in Albany. Upper Makefield, PA has a really good looking forest green color to thier trucks with a white roof. A much better looking dark green.

I can't beleive someone has a picture of Shelton CT Engine 1, affectionatly named "Jumbo". For those who don't know, Shelton's Ahrens-Fox was a 1939 BT (1250 gpm) model and saw many years of service. The AF is still owned by the Echo Hose, H & L. Co. 1 and still is pumped at the Engine 260 Muster in Milford. Thanks TR54

Same here and I go one step further, I never wear my coat when I'm the apparatus driver also. Why you may ask? Simple, a bulky turnout coat restricts your up body motion, think about when you wear a winter coat and you have layers underneath (t-shirt, sweatshirt, ect.) to keep warm. When driving apparatus of any type you should have a full upper range of motion to steer and also turn and move your body when you need to look out a window. If your wearing your turnout coat and have to make an evasive maneuver, it becomes harder to move that if not restricted with less bulky clothing. There is nothing wrong in my opinion for a drive not to wear turnout or just wear turnout pants. It only takes a few second for a driver to put the rest of his gear on after setting up the truck. Usually when I drive I'll either be in my street clothes (this depending how fast I get to my vollie station) or I'll wear my turnout pants only (both vollie and at work). My helmet and coat are either stored in the Driver's compartment of my truck or in the passenger section of the cab (depending on how many riders there are).
