The Boston area's methods of laddering date back to the early days before Hayes style aerials (then the modern horse drawn service style two piece aerials) and also the fact that many "triples" aka cheaply built three floor platform housing units were built so close together usually it was hard to get an aerial up. When I have buffed Boston and the "Metro" area, the common practice is for the first arriving engine company to get their 24 footer up. How many times have we overlooked that on our rigs? With limited space, both on the street and in between buildings, sometimes ground ladders is the only way to go. Plus the face with the style of housing there, if the stuff hits the fan, there is an escape route. I have yet to see a building in Boston where any side of a building is not laddered. Besides if your making an interior attack you need every possible escape-way possible. Also to depending on the size of building should determine your laddering it. Sometime one per side is fine, sometimes its more than two. What is even more amazing is how they will try and put a ladder truck (aerial or tower platform) in any position possible to get it up to the roof.

Also I for got to add that if you go to Anheiser-Busch's website as of 2pm today, it listed all of their beers including those beers owned by InBev, such as Bass Ale, Hoegaarden, Grolsch, Boddingtons Pub Ale, Becks, Stella Artois and Bacardi Silver to name a few. http://www.anheuser-busch.com/BeerVerified.html - AND - http://www.inbev.com/go/brands/brands_ageControl.cfm

This has been posted so many time on so many different threads, IT IS STILL AMAZING AND INTERESTING!!!! I can't believe how long this light has be "alive". Talk about making something that lasts, we hardly ever see that today with all the cheap junk that is mass produces. Just think of that filament they used for that bulb, one strong piece of carbon. It great to see an old piece outlast the newer stuff today!

I have a question, do the companies in MT. Kisco also purchase and own their apparatus as well?

Congrats all and I look forward to working with you all.

I think it would be a good idea since many departments have their firefighters travel a great distance to the firehouse or to the scene. On the other side though, I see a problem with abuse of it if it is not properly regulated.

Nice pics Dave. Hopefully I'll get back "home" to one of these conventions upstate.

The moron was from Falmouth on Cape Cod. Not only does this make Red Sox fans look bad it makes all us baseball fans look bad. Come on, just because the guy had a NY plate with a Tarrytown dealership frame it automatically make him a Yankee fan?!?!?!?!?! More than likely this moron is one of theose "front runner" fans that jumped the band wagon and has no clue about routing for his home team. Hopefully his new home team will be based out of Sing Sing!

Because it was a paint and rogue shop, they were screened for blood gases do to exposure to the chemicals in the shop. One of the MFD officers first on scene said the smoke and flames were all different colors at time. One of the Milford firefighters also said that the company make coloring for fireworks and Disney was one of their biggest customers. This building was literally three buildings down to the rear of Milford Fire HQ.

The Ansonia Fire Department (western New Haven County, CT) as of today is now (once again) being dispatched by the Ansonia Police Department. All operations can be heard on 156.1875, no more simulcasting on 46.2000.

Yah, it seems its off line for now but they were operating on the back up repeater from PD today so I really don't know if its going to be hooked up again or if the old WSW691 is dead.

I have a Bearcat 996 and a 396, BCT-7 Uniden 560XLT 16 channel, a Relm (don't remember the model number) but it works great on UHF and 800 MHz and a Shack Pro-2046.

My old Globe gear, I had purchased the loop kit and had a local tailor / sewing establishment hook them in for me. The kit is like $30. When I got my new gear a couple of years back I had it ordered with the loops.
