  1. OH GOD, NOT THAT WORD AGAIN!!! (Inside Ansonia joke between me and Cogs) I just hope everything works out for the best and the standard of service is not compromised. Good luck in "135" town.
  2. Just a question, if those departments in Stamford the do not want to go with SRFD, why don't they petition the state to become a separate fire protection taxation district (again) instead of having to go through the city? I do not know much about the departments down there that is why I'm asking. This might solve the funding issues or it is something in the town / city charter and incorporation that prevents this?
  3. Oh well, that's what happens, sometimes they make the move, other times they don't.
  4. I think Commissioner Chong said to bring your own water pipe!!!! LOL <JK> PS, Tommy is Canadian. Sorry but still a great North American stoner!
  5. I don't have the particulars but I believe it was a decent crash. I travel I-95 from New Haven to I-395 and usually there are some bad crashes along the eastern corridor. I'll see if I can find out what happened.
  6. I like the fact its set up as a WORKING FIRE ENGINE!! Except for one thing, Where is the bell??? The bracket is there are they taking the bell off their old truck and putting it on the Seagrave? Best of luck with the new engine!! (now only if New Haven would start purchasing Seagrave engines I'll have a better "hite fix" out here lol!)
  7. It takes weeks?!!?!!??!!? You got to be kidding me?!?!?!?! That ain't right man. I agree any information found out should be updated immediately either from quarters or by contacting the senior supervisor at the Boro CO and they then should have the power to put the info in, date it and when its updated further or corrected, updated again.
  8. It sounds like if there are any water issues such as problems with a building's water supply, work on the mains in the area, ect, it should be given to the responding units on dispatch. For building problems they could put it into the SIDS information or let the Battalion / Division know what is going on when they give the response update. As a former dispatcher if I have any information, it should be given out immediately. Yes it is a lot of added work but you know what at the end of the day, the information got out and will only take a few seconds longer.
  9. Tommy, You and I have agreed and disagreed on a lot of topics but man, you have definately made me see the otherside many times. Congrats brother!
  10. Work withholding info from us, no it can't be!!!! LOL
  11. More than likely it a site owned either by a firefighter for LACo or a buff. Scroll to the bottom of the main page and read the disclaimer on the bottom, that will give you your answer.
  12. I rather it be beer!!!
  13. Oh and to make a comment about the original post to say on topic. When in doubt, send it out. When there is a fire with an exposure problem to a structure, a full or general response should go depending on the size and type of the building.
  14. That is the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard just because they are 8 separate companies with their own officers. Then why is their fire department called the NYACK JOINT FIRE DISTIRCT? They are all incorporated into the same department / fire protection district correct???? They have a set of chiefs that run the department and what engine / truck / rescue company doesn't have their own set of line officers????? My department had five individual fire companies that make up a department but we have running rules. If this is the case in Nyack were everyone rolls, then it the lack of a proper set of runnings rules in the department. I not sure how they roll but you know what I'm gonna do some research so we get a straight answer. Give me a few.
  15. Three words SIMULCAST, SIMULCAST SIMULCAST!
  16. Great shots!! looks like everyone had a blast!!
  17. Congrats and stay safe!
  18. That is just bad-@** looking!!! Sweet ride.
  19. I got a 27.
  20. I've always favored the mid-mount pump placement with a side panel. I like being down on the ground if I have to get equipment off the truck I don't have to keep climbing up and down the truck constantly. No matter where you walk you'll still have to watch for hose all around you. Also since we are first due to a limited access highway, having the pump in the midship of the truck is far better than the rear of the pumper especially in this age of other drivers not paying attention and crashing into the rear of fire trucks.
  21. Ahh its "Nothing but a can job!!!"
  22. This is a hot bed up in Mass, a lot of it based on the problems facing Boston FD.
  23. That is part of the Charter 11 filing process. ALF has to re-organize their assets, not to over order and build up more debt. So COD is protecting ALFs suppliers like Hale which produces the Twin-Flow pump still for ALF, ect. It would be a smart thing to go COD for parts and equipment if their trying to stay afloat. This is the third time that ALF has gone through bankruptcy. Unfortunately it all ties back to Frieghtliner and the way ALF was sold off by them. That's were the problems began and continues now. The first time they were under bankruptcy proceedings was in 1984 when Figgie sold them off and Kearsey bought them. Then again in 1991/92 (?) when Kearsey dropped them and shut down production before Frieghtliner "saved" ALF. Seems like a vicious cycle for the company.
  24. Remember all, this is exactly how Peter Pirsch and Sons went out of business in the early 1990s. A family sued them after a Brookline firefighter fell off / out of a truck made by them. This lawsuit was the straw the broke the camel's back for the financially fragile company and set a precedent in the courts.
  25. ALF has started to emerge out of Charter 11 bankruptcy protection. All of ALF fire truck construction will be taken place at the Hamburg, NY and the Elphrata, PA plants. The plant in South Carolina is set to be the chassis construction plan t for both fire and commercial ventures (as read in one report). There will be permanent and temporary layoff because of the exiting out of Chapter 11 protection and further re-structuring. As for the orders, I believe all orders are still intact unless the purchaser canceled out. However I am not sure.
