Just checked their website, it is a Freightliner cab over. Freightliner, Peterbuilt, Kenworth and a bunch of over the road truck manufacturers utilized this cab. Trivia question, who made built this style cab for these companies?

Remember guys and gals, when we are called into duty, a patient doesn't know whether or not you are certified a first responder or not. They see you and think "finally help is here". But what's happens when you can't render them any help because of this and you have to tell them you can't help because your not trained to do that???? The public do not see us that way, we are a looked at as a "jack of all trades" when it comes to public safety especially since we are portrayed that way in the media. Sorry with the sue happy people out there I rather be certified as a first responder and not having to face a court where I refused help just because I wasn't certified. Being certified at least CPR / AED / first aid or to the MRT level is a CYA action and I believe everyone should have some sort of training. What about if it was one of your own fellow firefighters who got hurt or is having a cardiac arrest while operating at the "big one" and you need to render assistance? Would you do nothing and just stand there???? I know I wouldn't and that should be the same towards the public. Every firefighter and police officer should be certified at least to the minimum first responder level of CPR / First aid.

Sweet looking pumper, not as good looking as the Mack though!! Did Brooksville do the silver leaf like Harry Howard, or is that gold leaf? Hard to tell from the picture.

I believe Greenville, NY's rig was purchased from Bryn Mawr Fire Company in PA. They have the same paint scheme. http://www.brynmawrfirecompany.org/

What units were working this fire? Must have been a fairly large response.

Really? Doesn't surprise me one bit. Thanks for the correction!

That was the one off Sutphen pumper with a Mack engine and transmission. It was originally red with a white cab. I don't know the whole truth to the story but Sutphen was working with Mack on using their engines and transmissions. Well Sutphen decided to put the Mack name plates and bulldog on the truck. Evidently, Mack was to thrilled about the idea. Needless to say the project was scrubbed. There were ads taken out in the major publications showing off the truck but nothing materialized (kinda like Sutphen's attempted at a tiller tower ladder). As for the truth to the matter, you know how rumors go down the "telephone line". That is what was relayed to me.

Though I have used wood for all my service in rescues, I think a combination of wood and plastic should be used because of different scenarios can happen. Stability is the same and maintenance is the same. You get body fluids on wood, you have to destroy it where as heavy plastic can be easily deconed. Slippage, I believe wood is better against it. Plastic doesn't rot compared to wood. There area pros and cons to everything but having a good variety makes the job and "what to uses" decision a little bit easier. better to have more tools in the bang that saying wish I had it.

Here is the way I learned it, the good old Catholic School way! LOL In the original settlement set up way back in pre-colonial and colonial times a hamlet was a small settlement which may or may not have had church, usually a hamlet didn't. A village had a church within its boarders since it was more populated to support one. A village only needed one church to be established as a village. Remember back in those days, church and state really were not separated. In the modern sense, as state above each state is different with their set ups. In CT hamlets and villages have no municipal government and fall under the control of the town. Some villages cross over town lines such as Georgetown, Mystic and Old Mystic. A borough has its own governing body and comprises a section of a town, in CT we have eight boroughs. A town is the largest municipal entity in CT. Now here is were it gets tricky, a city can be a section in the town like a borough (self governing) or the city can comprise the entire town such as I live. Most of the cities in CT are town / City combines with the exception of the City of Willimantic in the town of Windam and the City of Winsted in the town of Winchester. Another exception, going back to the boroughs, Naugatuck is a borough comprising of the entire town of Naugatuck. Confused yet??????

Correct. here is the information of teh city's website: http://www.ci.newark.nj.us/government/city...nt_stations.php

Too bad you didn't see a spare DC pumper with the old "phone booth" style rider's cabs. Now those were classic DC rigs!

I know for Greenwich they are contracted to cover the northern section of the town that borders their district since they are closer than the GFD stations. I believe(as I was told) Banksville is also sometimes requested by Stamford for mutual aid if there is something in the northern Long Ridge areas also.

Congratulations!!

New Haven runs 2 TDAs. Truck 2 (Howard Ave Station) in a 1988 Seagrave and Truck 4 (Dixwell / Goffe Station) has a 2006 Seagrave. Old Truck 4's 1987 Seagrave is a spare designated Truck 4A. The only other TDA in service in CT that I know of is New London's A-35, a 2007 Seagrave TDA just placed into service this past year. Hartford & Bridgeport got rid of theirs TDAs by the 1980s / 90s
