I'm not shocked at all, its Hartford. Unfortunately I am not being sarcastic either. It was a total disgrace that happened. ALso a woman was assualted in broad daylight in Lawrence, MA I beleive a few days ago in her car and no one did anything either. What is this world coming to?

Engine 6 looks like a new brighter twist on the Gary, Indiana color scheme. Hope both companies have good luck with their new rigs.

By my understanding with the sale of ALF before the whole financial crisis is that they were no longer part of the Daimler-Benz / Freightliner enterprise affiliation. They were sold to Patriarch Partnership (or something like that). It was because of this sale that all of the information / records held by Fireghtliner were all messed up and withheld after the sale. I don't remember the whole story with it but it was after the sale by D-B that ALF started to go into the red and went for Chapter 11 re-organization (again for the 3rd time in its history) because of this. However my information may be wrong. Back on topic: Hopefully Larchmont will get the rig they need to replace soon and have good luck with what ever they end up with.

If you hear the work "File" and then a number code, those are NCIC (National Crime Information Center) codes and are the same throughout the nation. I used to know them all when I worked as a dispatcher for CSP example File 1 = stolen car File 5 = wanted person File 6 = Missing / runaway File 13 = text type File 16 = stole license plates Not all the numbers are used. But there are like twenty of them total if I remember correctly that are widley used. Here's a link to it http://www.fas.org/irp/agency/doj/fbi/is/ncic.htm

Working in the New Haven area for many years, I know Grady and he is a really good guy. I was home when the call came in for the accident and was listening to it. I'm gonna try and make it since I have to work days on Saturday.

Yes, CT does have a "home rule" law of legislation. However each of the the volunteer companies' districts are not taxation districts say like West Haven's Center, Allingtown and West Shore fire districts. I had asked this question before. Stamford used to be split between the City of Stamford (the downtown area were SFRD covers) and the rest of the Town of Stamford. In the 1960's Stamford petitoned for a town and city consolidated charter. Now how the volunteer fire departments were set up before (tax district or not) I am not sure but it seems like there was some sort of consolidation per the city charter of all the fire departments in the town (all six) under a public saftey director (I am only assuming by what I have been reading). If the volunteers were to create their own separate taxation district (considered a municipality under home rule of CT). it would take a petition to do so but like the topics of conolidation of other fire taxation diostricts in CT, it would take a great deal of time and may not solve the problem. As I am not an expert nor know Stamford that well, hopefully others would correct me and update to what I have said.

And also it seems by the petition letter those residents in the Fairview district don't realize that they will increase Arlington's and Hyde Park's tax rate for protection if they become part of those districts. Do the taxpayers in Arlington and Hyde Park understand what is going on with Fairview? Without a plan then Fairview will be without any fire protection and technically the area fire districts do not have to provide fire protection if Fairview is disbanded and that area would suffer being unprotected. With only the 47% of taxable properties in the district and the other percentage exempt, who is going to get what? So we'll split it 50 / 50 and the other districts or even the town will be in the same boat as Fairview is facing now. We have seem similar problems in the City of West Haven with their three fire districts, two of which are going through financial problems also but they have worked it out for the most part. Fairview brothers and sisters, keep you head high and good luck with the fight!
